Adding a NDB

Featured Replies

I have added the Abate (HI) NDB for the ILS approach to runway 12 at KHIO using the database editor within Fly!II. It is functional when 356.0 is tuned and the correct icon shows up in the map view but there is no information in the detail view of the map, nor can it be used in a flight plan (coordinates 0,0). I marked this entry for export when I added it and then ran the automated utility to create a navaid index. What did I miss? Any help would be appreciated.Zane

Zane,Most of us use Voledit by Didier to edit the Fly! databases - it is much easier to use than Fly!'s own editor and supplies a finished DEX file. This DEX can then be imported (and shared) with DexImport by Frank Racis. I have been using Voledit since the days of Fly!2K - it is so easy to use and so versatile, that I never even tried to use the new Fly!II DB editor when it came out, so I don't know all of its machinations. It could be that indexing was completed, but podding wasn't? You might want to post for Dan Martin, who has had some experience editing DBs with the built-in editor. However, I would highly recommend downloading the latest versions of Voledit and DexImport and making life a little easier.

Thanks Randall,I'll delete the NDB I added from within the editor and try re-introducing it with voledit and deximport (already had deximport), and let you all know if it worked.Zane
