I'll bet that once the sdk is released, it will be only a short time before all kinds of little utility programs and fixes appear. Look at what folks like Lee Swordy (TTools) managed to do even without an sdk. Hopefully there may not be any reason for RC contain an internal fix for the "Articial Stupidity" traffic.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]

Hi JD,I hope you don't mind me asking; but how have you accomplished the development of v3 without any sdk? Is the new version based on the new ABL scripts or the old Adv language? (I guess it isn't the latter or there would be no AI traffic interaction...)I've played around with making a minimal adventure using ABL script, and I had quite a time discovering functionality using the Lesson scripts as examples. I am wondering what resources you had to go on.If it's a trade secret and you don't want to say, I understand.Regards, hoo
June 1, 200224 yr Hoo,V3 is not an adventure, it's a real-time external program. No compiling plans. Just export to/make an FS200x plan, or old RC apl file, and run. This means that RC can now also work with the FS200x planner.Using an external program, there's no FS interaction per se. RC gets all it's info from FSUIPC. This is what keeps all the FS "features" (read "bugs") from "enabling" when RC is run. As far as FS is concerned, there's nothing else running.
June 2, 200224 yr That sounds like a better way of doing things - get outside of MSFS constraints as much as possible. FSUIPC is really becoming quite ubiquitous. I'd like to delve into the area of developing programs to interact with/manipulate MSFS (I'm a software developer by trade) but I seem to be devoid of ideas. Oh well, I guess I'll just enjoy the fruits of others' labor in this hobby :)Thanks for the reply.-hoo
June 3, 200224 yr Hoo,If you really want to get into the software side of things with FS, the world is woefully short of freeware gauge programmers.
June 3, 200224 yr Thanks for the input. I think I'll check out the Panels SDK.I still have the same problem with lack of ideas...then again I might think of something while I'm messing around with SDK...Thanks again.Regards,Hoo
June 4, 200224 yr Hoo,I guarantee if you learn gauge programming and advertise freeware work, you won't have to think anything up...you'll get plenty of suggestions (like a boatload of e-mails from me complete with bitmaps ready to go)! :-lol
June 6, 200224 yr Hi Scott,I you would like to send me (via email) concise summaries on one or two of the gauges/ideas on your "most wanted" list, I'd like to have a look at them. I've been experimenting with an idea of my own, but I think it may be too limited to force me explore the possibilities very far.-hoo
