October 7, 200223 yr I'm getting in trouble with ATC (Center) again. My flight plan: AVP-LACIE-SFK-CIP (GRACE2 Arrival) MMJ (per Scott's post of a close VOR to PIT)-then PIT International. I'm perfectly on the airway to CIP at FL 180 when Cleveland Center tells me "traffic moving right to left, a 737 at 19000" then "traffic moving left to right, a DC-9 at 20000", or something like that. I was not told to deviate or change heading this time. A few minutes later I hear "cross ??? at 10000 and 250 knots." Since I never left the airway, I ignored this. Then I was read the riot act - "you failed to cross ??? at the correct altitude and speed, they're not going to buy it next time, you can continue on, but begin circling" or something similar. Now what's wrong ??? Also, is there anywhere to look to find out what to do for a specific instruction such as this that one might not be familiar with or understand? I couldn't find this in the manual. Thanks, Tom :-hmmm
October 7, 200223 yr Commercial Member the tutorials explain everythingyou ignored an instruction, and you were rightfully scolded.the instruction was cross 40 miles from xxx (probably MMJ) at 10000, 250 knots.that means, descend to 10000 in time to cross 40 miles from MMJ. JD Read my blog
October 8, 200223 yr Author Thanks JD. Are these tutorials separate from the manual I downloaded? Also, why did I get "scolded" when I did nothing wrong this time.? I was told traffic was passing below or above me which my "copilot" acknowledged, and that wasa it. I never was told to deviate from my airway, and I was well away from PIT or MMJ to descend to 10000. Thanks. :-wave
October 8, 200223 yr Commercial Member on the web page, under samplesyou were scolded because you missed your crossing restriction. has nothing to do with traffic, deviations for traffic. JD Read my blog
