October 15, 200223 yr For the developers of Radar Contact Version 3Inquiring if Version 3 will interact with the Program "My Traffic" which was just recently released.Thanking you for your replyKenny G.
October 15, 200223 yr Commercial Member define "interact"if i understand correctly, my traffic generate ai trafficai traffic will be active while you run rcv3 (unlike adventures shutting it down)we will see ai trafficwe will make traffic advistories for ai traffic that are within rangewe will not vector you for ai traffic, since we can't control the ai trafficdoes that help? October 15, 200223 yr Author Tks. JDYes that does answer my question, I should have said "will version 3 see ai traffic.Tks. for the replyKenny G.
October 17, 200223 yr I'm not sure I completely understand the treatment of AI traffic. If there are five aircraft ahead of you waiting for takeoff, will you hear each aircraft cleared for takeoff or will you hear chatter and see aircraft movement until your clearance comes up?
October 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member i only see AI traffic in the air

http://www.jdtllc.com/images/Radar_small.gif Co-Developer of http://www.jdtllc.com' target="_blank">Radar Contact V3] the premiere ATC adventure add-on for FS JD Read my blog
October 17, 200223 yr That's too bad. You have a great product, but for those of us who spend time on building our AI world it would be a shame not to be able to operate with the same. Does FS not provide any interface at all for control of AI? Actually, realism could be appraoched with merely simulating control of AI. That is, if you know the AI aircraft position, RCV3 could predict the intent of the AI and play the appropriate wav files to make it appear as if RC was controlling the AI.Out of curiosity, why would you only see AI in the air? What happens to AI on the ground when using RCV3?Thanks for your reply.
October 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member i cannot control ai planes. if i could, i would be vectoring for traffic. i just know where they are, how close they are to you, and whether i should make a traffic callnot sure if i could "simulate" the control of AI. i don't know where they are on the ground, how many are in front of the one in front of me, etc.way to late in the development cycle, peter dowson offered to make the ground traffic available for me to do something with. but since i don't know what they are doing out there, i can't really "simulate" the control of them.maybe future versions of RC !the reason i can see the ai planes in the air, is because fsuipc gives me access to that information.the ai planes are still on the ground, you can see them, and i guess FS ATC talks to them (you can listen to FS ATC on com2, while running RC on com1).hope this clarifies the issues.

http://www.jdtllc.com/images/Radar_small.gif Co-Developer of http://www.jdtllc.com' target="_blank">Radar Contact V3] the premiere ATC adventure add-on for FS JD Read my blog
October 18, 200223 yr That's OK JD. FS ATC can't control ground traffic either. :-). At a number of airports they suddenly taxi across the grass to parking or take off beside the runway. :-). Wild bunch. I use AFCAD to correct this problem at airports that I find this behavior at. Changing the holding point for the takeoff and moving the starting circle forward and the taxiline ending behind the starting circle corrects the take off problem. I have to play with the taxi across grass problem depending on what's causing the problem at any one airport. :-).
October 18, 200223 yr Commercial Member shouldn't be a problem, rc not seeing ground traffic.ground tells you to taxi to runway xx, and hold short. contact tower on xxx.xxall you have to do is taxi merrily behind the ai traffic until you are next in line, and then call tower.everyone is happy

http://www.jdtllc.com/images/Radar_small.gif Co-Developer of http://www.jdtllc.com' target="_blank">Radar Contact V3] the premiere ATC adventure add-on for FS JD Read my blog
October 25, 200223 yr If you listen in on the FS ATC/AI ground frequency on COM2, the atmosphere should be quite realistic. I only see three minor problems:1. You'll have your own private ground controller while all the other aircraft share another. As long as the sound characteristics of the two set of voices are comparable, i.e. they sound as if they come from the same place, no real problem.2. Occasionally, the FS ATC/AI chat will collide with the RC3 ATC instructions. In a busy airport, I anticipate that this could become intolerable. Luckily, you can just switch off COM2.3. When controlled by FS ATC, you frequently get "hold short" instructions because of other taxiway traffic. This I conclude that I won't be getting with RC3. At least there's a good chance that the AI traffic will be told to keep clear of you, but I rarely taxi around without FS ATC clearance, so I couldn't tell for sure. Anyone?
October 25, 200223 yr Commercial Member 1) i sort of like having my own controller, always listening just to me LOL2) switch off fsatc, or i believe, i'm not sure, i haven't tested it, rcv3 may stop fsatc. maybe one of my beta testers can verify3) you will be told to taxi to runway xx, and hold short, then contact tower on xxx.xx - so while staying on ground frequency, follow the traffic in front of you until you get to the runway, and then call tower.

http://www.jdtllc.com/images/Radar_small.gif Co-Developer of http://www.jdtllc.com' target="_blank">Radar Contact V3] the premiere ATC adventure add-on for FS JD Read my blog
October 25, 200223 yr RCv3 does not stop FSATC. I have the ATC sound setting set lower than the RCv3 sound so I always hear RCv3 over FSATC._________________Rick SupportJDT LLC
October 25, 200223 yr Hi Rick and all, Same setup for me, Rick. I've never used comm 2 for listening to fs act but even on comm1, with rc talking, i can hear the fs atc chattering away. :-) After being clr to taxi I just slip in behind an AI or go it alone if it's clear. You only have to listen to fs atc, but you better pay close attention to what RC controller is saying. ;-))Rob

http://avsim.com/flightdeck/images/Radar_small.gifBeta tester for http://www.jdtllc.com' target="_blank">Radar Contact] the premier ATC adventure add-on for FS
October 28, 200223 yr I find this fascinating. I've just spent a bunch of time figuring out how to install Project AI files and airlines, and had a great time just sitting at my computer and watching and listening to Tower traffic at Schiphol airport. It was fascinating to watch all those KLM, Transavia, Dutchbird, British Airways etc. aircraft running around--very close to reality. But when I tried to tune Ground frequency on Com 1, and Tower frequency on Com 2, it wouldn't let me. It would activate one or the other. Maybe it was just the plane I was in (Baron 58) but I suppose RC has overcome (or bypassed) this limitation, if you can listen to Com 1 and Com 2 at the same time.- Caphollandhttp://flightsimmers.net/va/caphollands
October 28, 200223 yr Cap, Not all planes support using both the Comm 1 and Comm 2 radios. Scott Campbell has done a write up on how to add the active Comm 2 radio to any plane you like and then you can do this in RC with that plane. It'll be part of the RC V3 docs. ;-)Rob
