October 31, 200223 yr I havn't used RC for over a year, but waiting for version 3.I believe you have to have a navigational aid within 40 dme of your destination airport in order for the program to have you arrive at the airport.I have been using fsnav 4.5 and have seen some flight plans which I have generated that the VOR is greater then 40 dme from the airport. Can version 3 use intersections or NDB instead of VOR.Hope this is not to confusing.Kenny G.
October 31, 200223 yr Commercial Member version 2 was able to handle your last checkpoint wherever you wanted to put it. the problem was your crossing restriction was given at 70 miles from the last checkpoint, which would mean you would have to cross at 10000 at 80 miles from the airport. bad. we also stated, put your last checkpoint as close to your arrival airport as possiblefor holding to be possible, the last checkpoint had to be a VOR, so you could perform the hold correctly. you needed the DME of the VOR to give you your distances in the holdin v3 the last checkpoint can be anywhere. we will give the crossing restriction 70 miles from the arrival airport, and expect you to cross about 40 miles from the airport. i say about, because we now have two types of crossing restrictions. for lack of a better term, we call them old crossing restriction (OXR) and new crossing restriction (NXR). you get a OXR, if the last checkpoint is within 5 miles of the arrival airport. you get a NXR if the last checkpoit is outside the 5 mile radius. the NXR is given at 70 miles from the airport, and you are told to be level at 10000 in 30 miles or less (about 40 miles from the airport)hope THAT wasn't too confusing.
