November 22, 200223 yr Hey guys, I was wondering how long it might take to get a registration number for my RC v2.2 since v3 is on its way out. I havent installed Radar Contact in quite a while, and I want to get familiar with it before I get v3. Thanks alot.CraigP.S. I have another piece of software which requires emailing the author each time you want to reinstall, and I hope you guys dont disappear like they did and never return my emails for a registration number to unlock a product I paid for!
November 22, 200223 yr Commercial Member email [email protected] with your v2.2 product id (after you install it)honestly, your time might be better spent reading the v3 manual, and becoming familiar with radar contact that way.i hate to think you getting all confused or frustrated with all those ctrl-shift menu keys etc. might be better off starting fresh with v3 JD Read my blog
November 22, 200223 yr Author Thanks JD, I just installed the program and sent the email. I honestly would just like to use something different from VATSIM because the controllers are kind of jerks sometimes, and also I havent used RC since before starting my instrument training and I think it will make alot more sense now that I can read approach plates, copy clearances correctly, etc. I am still going to read up on v3, and also I wanted to let you know that I sent an email to update my address and email info so that I could get a link to purchase v3 and never received a response. Thanks for your help JD.Craig

November 22, 200223 yr Author Ah, I see. That is definitely understandable. By the way, quicker than lightning (almost :)) response for my registration. I like that! If you are going to hold the type of registration the RC does, it is very important to monitor that frequently, and I thank you guys. I have one question though that I did not see answered on the v2.2 site. I just filed a flight from IKV to ALO, about 100 miles or so apart. IKV is a non controlled field, so I opened my flight plan in the air (RC wasnt showing an option to get clearance on the ground at IKV). Instead of contacting DSM approach for that clearance, RC only gave the option for contacting Chicago Center. CC did properly hand me off to ALO approach at the proper place, but I was wondering if I didnt do something right or if this is just a bug for getting clearance in the air or flying from non controlled fields. Thanks in advance for your time.Craig
November 22, 200223 yr Craig,V2.2 is an all-or-nothing frequencies situation. If you don't have Tower, you also won't get Dep or APC. V3 allows all combinations of structure. So you will get DEP in v3, where you will not in V2.2 from an uncontrolled airport. V3 will also give you the option to get Clearance on the ground or in the air. I don't remember the key to doing this in 2.2, but I think you can only get it in the air.
November 22, 200223 yr Commercial Member you did it right. clearance in the air is going to come from the center that you are in when you ask for the clearance. then you are on chicago center until you are 40 miles from ALO. then he switches you to ALO approach. JD Read my blog
November 22, 200223 yr Author Thanks guys, at least I know that I did it right and that the situation will be corrected in v3. Its not that big of a deal, but its always nice to have things realistic.Craig
