Can't get green line to disappear

Featured Replies

Ok, this is getting a little wierd. I am trying to get that green line to leave. Right click, then hit close, yep gone, wait came right back. I check FS2002 menu tab across top, nope, adv tab not checked in module. Ok finally get it to go. Then I go to module tab check the adv funtion there it is in the left. Size it, and then dock darn where did it go. Oh, no the green thingy is back. Ok, this true scenerio is driving me crazy can't read half the stuff in the green line but don't want to have both the green line an black box up that I can't even dock. Second, flying ready to rest and save, can't get the rcv3 off of the bottom line to save, is there a special key I should hit to make it save, since I can't bring up the RCV3 menu screen?I am running XP 1.1 ghz cpu with all the latest drivers, 32 MB Video Card G, force and still can't get this to work. Thanks for any helpDave

DaveIf it helps any, I am having the same type of problems with ADV...I have the latest version of ADV.dll, latest FSUIPC, and I have confirmed my panel.cfg file does NOT show "read only". I tried ADV when it first came out for other add-ons and I had nothing but problems so I canned it. But had to bring it back for RCV3. I know it is frustrating cause many others seem to have it work fine for them. Maybe we can start an ADV anoymonous or an ADV support group. I am only hoping someone can answer your problem which will help me also.Vincent Carlo

Hi Guys,We spent a lot time a couple of months ago with Pete making sure that the ADV display was working as we all expected. The entire test team spent a lot of time, I know I sure put it through its paces. Now let me address what I think all should look for. First when your panel is loaded, make sure you go to the modules and tick ADV display on. At this point you may have both the ADV display and the FS "green" window open or in view. Right click on the "green" window and close it.At this point position the ADV diplsay, and size it in a loction on your panel. Make sure that the panel is not position where part of the display is off the screen. It will not save this position correctly. When you are pleased with the location of the ADV display, SAVE the flight. This will lock in the ADV diaply to your panel. If you use another panel to start FS and then change to another panel, the ADV display will "loose" its saved position. My experience is that I start my FS2002 with the PIC767 panel all the time. I have the ADV display position in the lower left section of the PIC767 and the ADV display always is postion in the same location when I start FS2002.If you are still having problems, please post with "DETAILS" of what you have done.Hope this Helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bob Johnson

Actually, save the AdvDisp window. Right click on the AdvDisp window after dockingon the MAIN 2D window, click SAVE. Then that gets saved into the panel.cfg file. You can save the flight as well and it will save the window in FS, but it's not necessary. One thing to do if you don't see the AdvDisp window is to look from the left or right and then back forward (From the MAIN 2D Panel) (DON'T PAN LEFT OR RIGHT). Then AdvDisp appears if it disappeared.

Hi Scott, You and Bob are both correct! :-) It can be done either way with good results. I settled on your method but only because I hadn't thought of saving the flight to do this. It's the sequence of steps to make it work right that is the most important. Once that's done for your favorite RC flying panels you can concentrate on keeping out of Bill Stephens office a bit more. he he Best, Rob

Thats my problem I can't get the green line to dissapear. My main comment said that I was doing exactly what you said to do and still no results. I close the green line but in a matter of 3 to 4 seconds it pops back on. I get the adv window to come up size it and then dock it, it disappears. Can't get it to stay lit.ThanksDave

Dave,See the thread "AdvDisplay Problems" dated (approx) Nov 21. From that thread I pulled my response, to what worked for me to fix this up.=====================================================================I've found three things will make this window either blink, or disappear altogether. This is what's worked for me, hope it works for you. If it does, please be here when others have the same problem. 1). Keep the AdvDisplay window at "such-and-such" distance (I think it's 1/4"+, or 1/2"+) from any edge of your panel. It's not so far that it's offensive, but putting the window on the very edge, left/right-top/bottom (for me) has never worked.2). This one's inconsistent. Depending on the aircraft, it's panel etc..., if I put the window above the aircraft panel (not on top of, I mean above as in over sky), it'll disappear. Again, that's inconsistent.3). If I put the window on an area of the aircraft panel that "moves", the window will blink. The attitude/airspeed indicators, altitude/VAS instruments, even (like on the B737) the N1/EGT/N2 instruments... they all move. The window needs be on a "fixed" area.Placement means the world. I loaded every aircraft I had available one afternoon, took the time to find correct placement for each, and saved each situation so I wouldn't have to go through that every flight. It'll seem like an amazing pain at first, but it's really not that bad. As I remember, it was kind of relaxing =====================================================================hope this helps!

Can someone post a screenshot with a working place for adv and PIC767 ?Best regards,Guillaume

My problem is with the PSS A320. I love this a/c and have done all the modifications to use it with RCV3. I think I may have been placing the box too close to the lower left corner of my panel and I am hoping Doug's response will cure my woes. Thanks Doug for the link back to earlier post. Will try this out as soon as I get home tonite. LONG LIVE RC!!Vincent Carlohttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

From what I've read, it's not possible to place it on the second eicas screen for example but on a fix part of the panel.I'm going to try that this evening ...Thanks a lot.Best regards,Guillaume

Guillaume,No, you cannot place the adv disp over an existing gauge (AFAIK)I haven't come across a panel yet that adv display can't be squeezed in somewhere, and I've tried an awful lot of AC ;)

Great, Thanks for all the help people. I just flew without a hitch. I will have to remember that that adv. display is very sensitive. Can't even overlay on window has to be on the panel. Once I sized it to fit empty spot on panel the green bar didn't even come back. Thanks,Dave
