Procedures

Featured Replies

Since I have not used RC in so long I want to make sure I am using the correct procedures. I have read the manual but there are a few things I need to tweak.1. Start FS2002, file flight plan, start FS2002.2. After it starts, minimize and then start RC.3. Choose the flight plan there and run and that will minimize RC.4. Max FS2002 and tune ATIS.At that point both FS ATC and RC operate. I am using COMM 1.I also have a problem with docking the message bar. When I dock it disappears. I have checked my panel.cfg and read only is not checked as per instructions on page 99.I do have a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 card but have yet to figure out how to increase the setting for more wave files to play at once.Any help would lower my blood preasure. Just mad at myself for letting a machine beat me.Denny ONashville, TNP.S. The twins are at the inlaws tonight and I have been cleared (the wife) for some flying.

Just read an answer to the SoundBlaster problem so please disregard that one.Denny O

Denny,I've found three things will make this window either blink, or disappear altogether. This is what's worked for me, hope it works for you. If it does, please be here when others have the same problem. 1). Keep the AdvDisplay window at "such-and-such" distance (I think it's 1/4"+, or 1/2"+) from any edge of your panel. It's not so far that it's offensive, but putting the window on the very edge, left/right-top/bottom (for me) has never worked.2). This one's inconsistent. Depending on the aircraft, it's panel etc..., if I put the window above the aircraft panel (not on top of, I mean above as in over sky), it'll disappear. Again, that's inconsistent.3). If I put the window on an area of the aircraft panel that "moves", the window will blink. The attitude/airspeed indicators, altitude/VAS instruments, even (like on the B737) the N1/EGT/N2 instruments... they all move. The window needs be on a "fixed" area.Placement means the world. I loaded every aircraft I had available one afternoon, took the time to find correct placement for each, and saved each situation so I wouldn't have to go through that every flight. It'll seem like an amazing pain at first, but it's really not that bad. As I remember, it was kind of relaxing If this doesn't work for you let us know. I'm sure many will jump in on this thread with more assistance.hope this helps!

Denny,>I also have a problem with docking the message bar. When I >dock it disappears. I have checked my panel.cfg and read >only is not checked as per instructions on page 99. Doug answered most of this.A couple other things.- After docking, Right-Click on AdvDisp and click "SAVE" to save it.- Make sure you don't have "Hide when empty" checked.- Try looking left or right (not panning) and back forward.- Do not try to dock to the 3D/VC panel. It'll only dock to the 2D one.

I looked but did not notice a SAVE on the right click dropdown.I had advdisp.dll (8/8/02) problems until I replaced it from Peter Downson's home page and it was dated 8/12/02 v. 1.97. I use FSUIPC 2.93 under W98 which might have made a difference. Dowson's comments did state there were some configs that did not work well with previous adv versions.

Ron,The Advdisp save function is on the Advdisp window, not the FS modules menu. After docking AdvDisp, right-click on it and you'll get a whole host of options, including background and text color, save, ATIS Messages (which you want to make sure is unchecked), font, etc.

I found a solution for one problem. I was trying to dock Advdisp to my view of the outside. Once I docked it to the flight panel itself everything was fine. I did not understand it had to be docked to the instrument panel. Works great now!Denny ONashville, TN

SBLive1.5 doesn't have simultaneous playback config option, but I'm sure you don't have any wav problems.I used onboard SBPCI128-CT5880 which didn't play wavs simultaneously, so I bought not expensive but quality SBLive1.5! ;)Cheers!!
