December 21, 200223 yr Hi Scott!I followed your instruction above and it was OK until I came to <3. If I click OK after changing the "exe" to "bat", I get a message saying that it
December 21, 200223 yr Haraldh,DO NOT rename rcv3.exe to rcv3.bat!You need to make a NEW text file that you will name something like RunRC.bat. Follow the instructions above again with that in mind.Item 3 in Bruce's instructions is to change the Target in a shortcut icon if you have one on the desktop or in start/programs/radar contact. So if you did make a text batch file named rcv3.bat in RCV30, then find the Radar Contact in Start/Programs/Radar Contact. Right click on that and change the Target to rcv3.bat.However, like I said, it's a much better idea to name the batch file something like RunRC.bat. Then there's no confusion.
December 21, 200223 yr Thanks Scott!Even if the sound card together with the Win ME in my PC did produce the voice files nicely (but a bit slow), I noticed that the speed now has been increased! Before there could be some stop here and there (probably when the CPU had too much to process). Now it
December 21, 200223 yr Oops! You are right Scott, I should have used a different name so there would be no confusion. At the late hour I was writing, I wasn't thinking ahead. RCV3.BAT seemed like a natural, but perhaps it was a little TOO natural. (-: The thread is now locked so I can't edit it. Whoever has control of the message, could they edit it and change the name of the batch file so there is less confusion? Thanks,Bruce
December 21, 200223 yr Commercial Member what do you want me to do?do you want to repost, and i'll anchor it instead of what is up there? JD Read my blog
December 22, 200223 yr Hi Bruce!I apologize! I am so sorry! Shame on me!For some reason I thought it was Scott who posted that message above! But it was you who created such a good instruction for us ME-owners! It worked for me!Isn
December 22, 200223 yr JD,I'll do another version and include some graphics so the steps are a little less confusing. You can then delete the first post and replace with the new improved version.Bruce
December 22, 200223 yr Bruce, Confusing or not, I managed to do it right. lol I'm using Win98se and always thought the voices were ok. Now, after applying the .bat file the voices are zipping along with a very natural cadence and as a side benefit the menu's in AdvDisp are much more responsive. I didn't even know it was broken and you fixed it! he heThanks, Rob
December 22, 200223 yr JD,You locked up the new instructions before I could complete the text. All you have are the jpgs!I posted the file so I could see where the graphics were, then I was in the process of entering the text, when I got an error saying I couldn't edit the message, it was locked! Can you pull that message down and I'll try it again?Bruce
