One of those days...

Featured Replies

Ever have one of those days?...Flying along from KBDR to KACK...on course...Center comes on and tells me I'm off course and to turn to new heading (away from the correct course)...well, without dispute I follow the instructions only to be yelled at again for being off course (which I'm am now) and to fly new heading back to my original course (note: this was not a traffic deviation)...I get back on course only to be yelled at one more time for, you got it, being off course...This went on for awhile until I got handed off to Approach...hmmm, maybe someone was squawking the same code as me ;)When I got to KACK and parked, I ran as fast as I could from the airplane so Mr. Bill wouldn't yell at me. I'm still hiding in a snow bank until dark.Bradley "The Coward" Dykes

Bradley, You can run but you can't hide! ROFLMAO! I remember this happening to me once, but only getting yelled at twice for off course. When it happened I was a bit miffed. ;-) The indignity of it all......I'll be dinged by Bill Stephens at arrival after what was a perfectly sound flight! This time, Bill wasn't going to accept a cold bottle of "Moose Drool" from my private stash, either! I may have missed a waypoint but I doubt it. :-bigangel Glad you're finally up and enjoying the great ATC experiece that RC delivers. :-) Best regards, Rob

sounds like you might have missed your crossing restriction

>I'm still >hiding in a snow bank until dark. Guess Mr. Bill will have to get the Dobermans out of the kennel again.... :)If you're getting busted for being off course, check the wind conditions. I've found that once the winds get to around 50 knots and above, the autopilot has trouble maintaining course, and that may trigger RC's "watchdog" (not to be confused with the Dobermans). When that happens I'll switch to the heading hold and correct for wind manually. That seems to keep RC happy.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]Horizon Flights--flight plans and scenery for FS2002http://sidneyschwartz.homestead.com/index.html

I'm sure it was one of those fluke things...I think the controller just likes to pick on us GA guys ;)jd: I'm pretty sure it wasn't a missed crossing restriction... I've experienced that a few times already :( ... I mean I've read about it happening ;)Sidney: winds were strong but I was following an outbound radial right on the money...cross checked it with the gps... maybe a tenth of a nautical mile to the left of the planned courseOverall, absolutley no complaints, except that I seem to get yelled at a lot (must be the airplane...can't be pilot error :-hah). Maybe if I slip some cash into an envelope and send it off to Center...Awesome program!Bradley "it's not my fault" Dykes

I check all the waypoints listed on the RC3 info to ensure that they are the same that are programed into my FMS (I fly picposky 767)Sometimes they get lost between their creation in FSbuild, then the export process from FSNav.
