January 6, 200323 yr I was just completing a flight from EGKK (London Gatwick) to EKCH (Copenhagen, Denmark) when I was given 'Cleared to land'. So I duly landed, had slowed down to about 30kts and was just turning off of r/w 4L when I was told to 'Go Around'. 'No way,' I thought and continued my turn off. So, when I asked for the appraisal, I got a right old rollicking. Yes, I know, it's something I can ignore, but that's not the point, is it? Had I tried to get off the ground again I would have run out of runway before I even got to 50kts (this was in a B757). Also, there was no apparent reason for me to have to go around. There was nothing on the runway, at the hold short, or even crossing the runway. I hope this was just a 'one-off' incident, because things like this annoy me, and if it happens too often without good reason, then I'm quite likely to never want to use the program again. Another incident happened yesterday. I was directed to r/w 8L at Gatwick, so I requested r/w 8R, which is the usual runway to use (8L/26R is only used when 8R/26L is undergoing maintenance). I was given clearance to 8R, so I went and held short as usual. At the end of the flight I got another rollicking for having crossed the threshold of 8L while a 737 was on short finals. I could accept this if 8L was actually in use, but it wasn't and the 737 was actually landing on 8R.[steps down from soapbox]Keith....Wherever you go, there you are...
January 6, 200323 yr No need for all the "go around" calls. I get one about every third flight. RegardsRichR
January 6, 200323 yr Moderator Rich,I've raised this issue with the development team. I agree that they come too often but other testers don't seem to have the problem so it's not an easy one to resolve.Watch this space! Ray (Cheshire, England). January 6, 200323 yr Commercial Member sounds like you might not have acknowledged the cleared to land.crossing the threshold when told to hold short, is an instruction you have to follow.when you don't, i make up the dangerous traffic situation when i yell at you. totally random that there was a plane landing on the other runway when you were yelled atthe go-arounds will be drastically reduced in the point release coming soon.the reason, for all the go-arounds, is all the people running in real-time. trouble with the number of times "through the code" makes the go-arounds more probable. Yes, but I was told to hold short of r/w 8R, not 8L.>the go-arounds will be drastically reduced in the point >release coming soon. Oh, good! Thanks for the replies. It's appreciated.Keith....Wherever you go, there you are...
