RCV3 & FSMeteo Problem Surface winds

Featured Replies

Greetings, I have noticed a problem when using FSMeteo and RCV3. When I am receiving ATIS at my departure airport it always reports the winds as "calm" even when they are not, also ATIS never reports a visibility value it just says "visibility"..... then goes on with the rest of the report. I have contacted Marc Philbert about this and he said he has never heard of this problem. Can someone help? I am using FS98, RCV3 , FSMeteo V5.2 and FSUIPC V2.95. Thank You RPM.

RPM,Make sure that in the wind setting of FSUIPC you don't have the taxi winds set on automatic, they should be turned off if you want the "real" winds. The auto setting will induce a calm wind for ease of steering for small planes.cheersBob Johnson

Bob, Thanks for the reply. How do you set this in FSUIPC ? Any time I click on FSUIPC in the modules menu in FS98 all I gat is a small window with the version number and the authors name! There is no such parameter listed in the FSUIPC.INI file either. All thats in the INI file is the following:[General] FixWindows=No MainMenu=&Modules SubMenu=FSUIPC ... If I go into the weather dialogue the winds are all set correctly by FSMeteo. I still haven't figured out why it doesn't report a visibility value. THANKS. RPM.

I'd suggest deleting your fsuipc.dll and getting a fresh download to install. After this you'll see all the tabs for different adjustments.Best, Rob

Rob, Already tried that... No dice. I'm not sure that FSUIPC has all of that extra functionality with FS98, I just think you get all of those setting tweaks with FS2000 or FS2002. Again, when I click on FSUIPC in the modules menu all is I get is a version information window. Maybe the incorrect surface winds are a bug peculiar to FS98. Thanks, Raul.

Forgive me if this doesn't work, it's something your post reminded of from long long ago :-) Try remaning "FSUIPC.dll" to "FS6IPC.dll". I'm sure thats what I had to do to get it to work in fs98. Let me know?

also delete the fsuipc.ini file, and let it be recreated.if the winds are less than 4 knots, they are reported as calmi'd also make sure there are the same number of files in the winwood2 - 10

JD & Hermit, Tried renaming FSUIPC to FS6IPC and deleting the FSUIPC.ini file and restarting FS98. Still can't get any options from FSUIPC...only a version info window. JD winwwod/2-10 all have 1,131 files. The winds are all over 4 KTS when this happens. Oddly enough RC will report gusts but if the winds are "steady" it reports them as calm...eg .. on my last flight the surface winds at my departure airport were 250*@16 KTS but RC ATIS reported them as calm and as a result reported the wrong runway in use. Thanks, Raul.

let me see if any of my beta testers are running fs98. i think they all upgraded after we released :-(

Greetings, Hey folks, AM I the only one having this problem? I can't believe I'm the only one running RCV3 with FS98! Did a flight last night departure surface winds were 240@22KTS with gusts to 31.... RC ATIS again reported them as calm!Interestingly enough FS98 ATIS reports the proper surface wind but gives the wrong runway in use ... don't know what that's all about. Thanks, Raul.

looks like a bug. working on it. anyone else with fs98?

JD, The updated RCV3.exe file you sent worked perfectly. ATIS reported the correct surface winds and departure runway. Thanks for the help! Raul.

  • 1 year later...

Hi JD,Would that exe-file perhaps help me too ???Since some time RC 3.01 does not report my departure ATIS correctly. It always gives me calm winds, clear skys and Temp:0 DP:0.My arrival ATIS comes in OK.I am using RC and FSMeteo running from a second PC via wideFS.It is not caused by the automatic taxiwind in FSUIPC.I'd wish I remember at what point this started happening, but I'm not sure anymore...

Hi JD,Thanks for the fast reply.I've been doing some testing and the problem only occurs when Flight Deck Companion is running (started after RC).Will first look into that...regards,Jaaky
