March 25, 200323 yr Hi friends, today i took a short flight from Stockolm Arlanda to Joensuu Finland (wonderful addon scenery grabbed at FSNordic site).RC controller info only have tower and ATIS but not ground, departure or arrival; does it mean that EFJO is a non terminal airport? Is that possible with 2 ILS, one for each rwy (11 - 28)?Think i need help on managing this kind of approach, infact, when about 80 miles off EFJO controller told me something i did not understand and the available options were 1)affirmative 2)negative.I selected affirmative and went through a menu until ILS Rwy28; after that controller started giving instructions again but...Can anyone explain in simple words how do i manage those i think are NON TERMINAL approaches? RCv3 is something different from v.2 where TERMINAL and NON TERMINAL approaches were distinct!?!?! Forgive me but i'm not a real pilot and i'm a bit confused. Thanks in advance for helpingcheersLuigi ;-)
March 25, 200323 yr Commercial Member non terminal approaches are discussed in the tutorials section of the manual. it is too complex a topic for this post JD Read my blog
March 25, 200323 yr Hi JD,please tell me in which page of the manual i should read about NT arrivals; further, i really do not understand what controller tells me when i have to select 1)affirmative or 2)negative.Can you please tell me the exact sentence so i'll be able to answer correctly?Reading page 37 of RC manual i found insteresting readings about IAP approach and managed to land at NT apt's using FSNavigator as instant flightplan editor. Thanks in advance for helpingLuigi ;-)
March 26, 200323 yr Commercial Member you're kidding, right?if you go to the tutorials section of the manual, read the preview of each tutorial. i'm sure you will find one dealing with uncontrolled arrivalsit took me 30 seconds to find it. JD Read my blog

March 27, 200323 yr Hi Sidney, thanks a lot for posting.I was not kidding as JD supposed. I'm italian (and self english teacher) and often i'm in difficult in understanding what controller says (otto is very useful in that case!)So i went through controller scripts looking for the sentence it says just before i have to answer affirmative or negative.Anyway i'm reading all the manual, a very hard work for me! I'll give a look at pg.154.cheersLuigi ;-)
March 28, 200323 yr Hi Luigi,Center is asking you if you have the lastest ATIS information. If you answer "negative", he will give it to you. The second question is which approach you want, IAP or visual. You will only be asked these questions if your destination airport has tower/ground freqencies but no approach/departure. In this situation, center will clear you for the approach you requested and then hand you off to tower. If there is no tower/ground, center will simply ask you to report the field in site. The option to request an IAP will still be on the menu.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]MyTraffic/Radar Contact/FSMeteo/FSSE/FSassist/FDC
