June 20, 200322 yr This is an addendum to my post on setting up FSMeteo. I have auto connect and disconnect enabled, but when I click start I get a message like "unable to find server" or "server is out of service" then "use download world weather and stay offline option". What's wrong? Thanks.

June 20, 200322 yr If you're going to use that feature, you need to have FS_Meteo set up to do the dial-up and connect. It sounds as if that part isn't set up.What I did with dial-up was just to DL the world weather once. It was adequate for my uses. Sometimes if I know the weather I want to fly out of or into - like a big scary storm - I'll still DL the weather. However, you may wish to review the manual. You need to set up a few things, like a new dial-up connection, for FS_Meteo to dial out for you.I found that naming the dial-up connection FSMETEO, as is the default connection name in FS_Meteo, worked best. You use all your regular settings otherwise. You can try setting the connection name in FS_Meteo preferences to a dial-up connection name you have first.
June 21, 200322 yr Author Thanks Scott. I wanted to set up the FSMeteo connection as stated in the manual but then it said AOL users should disable the auto connect-disconnect option. My problem is I can't constantly be online while I am flying - the Mrs. and my daughter would have a fit on a 5 hr. trip from NY to LA. We only have one line. I was hoping to have FSMeteo auto dial as it says and then disconnect automatically after the download. Up till now I have been using the FS default jeppeson sight to download and then disconnect. Regards, Tom
