September 6, 200421 yr I love RC but I have 2 problems: First, often while VFR atc tells me to maintain a certain heading after departure which is parallel to my on course heading. When I am finally told to contact center and resume own navigation, I'm scolded for not maintaining my heading! I quickly try to get on my FS Garmin GPS track but usually am scolded another 1 or two times. What can I do here? Secondly, I notice most of the controllers I get in the US have foreign and sometimes hard to understand accents. Can I do anything here to make them more realistically American? Thanks.
September 6, 200421 yr Commercial Member vfr atc? what's that?if rc tells you to fly a heading, fly the heading. resume own navigation does not crank the plane around to get back to the "magical line" on the fmc display. it means fly direct to the next checkpoint. the course is displayed on the first line of the advdisp.if you want to cheat +/- 5 degrees from the direct course, you can ease your way over to what the fmc says should be your route.hope that helpsjd JD Read my blog
September 9, 200421 yr Author Sorry JD, a typo. I meant IFR. Any idea on the foreign US controllers?? :-) Thanks. Tom
September 9, 200421 yr Commercial Member in v4, i'll make it easier to pick and choose what controllers you hear.how about recording a set of controller wavs, to replace the non american voices you won't hear? takes a couple of hours, and everyone would benefit. JD Read my blog
