October 22, 200421 yr It is hinted that in the next (probably major) upgrade of AS2004 (now at 2004.5) AI will be refreshed at the end of the initial weather writes. This is a feature I requested (as well as some others) and queried about on the FSUIPC forum. The problem is when FS loads a flight, AI crank up using the original weather info. They are already enroute and also taxiing for TO to and landing on an active runway that may be inappropriate for the weather changes placed into effect at the conclusion of the initial weather update from an external weather program. This has caused conflict with ATIS info, runway selection, and the already established AI TO and landing patterns for several minutes after the weather writes complete. While FSUIPC's Pete Dowson did not comment directly on how to accomplish this (I have to read the newest SDK) this reply on the AS2004 forum alludes to the fact that they can now accomplish this. The work around has been for FS users to advance the time by more than fifteen minutes on the FS clock to force an AI refresh for the current weather conditions. With the upcoming AI pattern trend feature in the new version RC4 indicated, this combination of upgrades should really alleviate this problem at take-off time and enhance AI, weather, and RC synchronization.I'm not a gauge programmer, but if any are listening and can figure this out, it would be nice to make available an icon to activate the AI refresh or perhaps it can be a function of RC when activating the start RC task (done after conclusion of weather writes before contacting ground control).Just an FYI for those who care.
October 22, 200421 yr Moderator Ronzie,<>This is a problem with all 3rd party weather programs and FS2004. You're right in saying that when the flt loads the Ai aircraft react to whatever the winds were set within that flt. I have the same problem with FS Meteo. What I've done (courtesy of Pete Dowson and FSUIPC) is to load the flt and immediately toggle the Ai aircraft off. There's a command available to do this in the button tab in FSUIPC for registered users - Traffic Density Toggle. This will toggle the traffic betwen the value set in FS2004 and the value supplied in the Parameter option in FSUIPC. So if you have 100% set in FS2004 and 0 set in the Parameter value the traffic will disappear when you press the button once. Pressing it a second time (after the weather is loaded) will toggle it from 0 to 100%. Ai aircraft then use the runways appropriate to the current wind direction. This procedure works for me and if I've understood your problem correctly it should work for you and others. Let me know if it solves your problem.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). October 22, 200421 yr Author Thanks for pointing me to it. Since the commasnd is in the structure I imagine a developer can hook to it as well and maybe that is what Damien is referring to in his "hint".
October 23, 200421 yr Author Did the key assignment tonight and the AI refresh works OK as you stated. Thanks, Ray.
