November 13, 200421 yr I filed a flightplan from KIAH to KSAV using FSBuild. I imported the plan into RC. I notice the first waypoint on the flightplan is BDDRO intersection. RC shows this waypoint as 45 nm from KIAH. This is clearly outside of the 30 mile limit RC recognizes. On the Beaumont Four Departure SID chart BPT4.BPT indicates I should receive vectors to the BDDRO intersection. When I takeoff should I proceed to the first waypoint (BDDRO) or should I expect some vectors from RC? RC shows BDDRO from KIAH heading 95 and 45nm (at gate). I am trying to learn the SID and STAR procedures. When I chose this particular SID in FSBuild I did not know about the 30 mile restriction as well as trying to determine which SID to choose in my flight plan. I understand from reading that the SID or STAR is chosen when you leave depending on runway and weather. Thanks!
November 13, 200421 yr Hi There,With the first waypoint over 30 miles from the airport you can expect RC to issue you with vectors. Eventually you will receive the 'resume own navigation' message at which point you should head directly to BDDRO.All the best,John
November 14, 200421 yr RC did not issue vectors. I took off. I filed a NOTAM and replied back to them NOTAM on course. But they never told me to make any turns. I turned towards the waypoint and then notified them I was on course. Also, I had NOTAM's on on a approach in KIAH and they notified me of NOTAMs but I did not receive the option 3 - NOTAM on course after they told me to descend to 10000. I was almost on top of the airport. I contacted approach but I did not receive vectors to the ILS Rwy 9.Any ideas?
