Updating AIRAC

Featured Replies

I found that the AIRAC that comes with RC4 is pretty outdated (Aug/2004). While I always update the AIRAC of my planes and flight planning software to the newest version, I think it's also necessary to keep my RC4's updated so I'll not get busted because of database discrepancy. As www.navdata.at is still updating the AIRAC for RCv3, I found they're using the same format (except RCv3 uses txt file while RCv4 uses cvs file, but it's pretty easy to convert txt file to cvs file). So right now, I want to confirm, if it's ok for me to do the update, by converting RCv3 txt files to RCv4 csv files? Thanks!

Hi Dick,I'll leave that one for jd - just make sure you back up the originals first ;-)As far as I know RC is reading the wp positions directly from the flightplan so you would probably okay anyway. I'm not 100% sure though, others may chip in to confirm or deny this! All the best,John

Thanks John for your reply again =)>>As far as I know RC is reading the wp positions directly from the flightplan so you would probably okay anyway.Oh.. so it seems RC doesn't need its own AIRAC anymore, so why the AIRAC files are still there? for redundancy purpose? um.. just curious =)

Hi Dick,Hmm, good point.I'm sure jd has a good explanation :-lolAll the best,John
