help - un controlled fields

Featured Replies

I set a flight plan from CYAZ to CYCD - both uncontrolled fields, and only unicom was shown in the controllers page.In Radar Contact 4 I had two options - wx on FSS and Clearance from FSS. Calling either of these led to a STANDBY message, then nothing, back to the menu - no call out and no reply.Weather was not VFR, so I didn't have any VFR options. What am I missing?Could somebody go to CYAZ and see if this happens to you too. Thanks

do you have autotune on contact set on the options page?jd

No - I have it turned off as I like to tune my radios manually - this works well out of controlled fields. The menu did not have a frequency listed next to the "wx on FSS" or "Clearance on FSS" - also there was no tuning options for unicom. Thanks

try tuning 123.60, or the unicom freq of 126.70

Hi there,To get FSS you usually have to tune to 118.80I have the frequency stuck on my monitor (along with inflight 125.0)!With problems like this you can always try to give the comms to Otto (ctrl-shift-K, if he'll accept them) and see what frequency he tunes.Alternatively enable 'tune on contact' temporarily and see what frequency RC tunes.Have a good Christmas,John

Thanks - turning on auto-tune did the trick. Actually, it's not a problem to leave it on anyway - I still can tune my own comms before transmitting.Like the cellphone call effects on contact FSS."Otto" - Surely that the autopilot from Airplane - right? (and I know, don't call you Shirley) :)Have a good Christmas and thanks for all of the help and prompt replies.
