January 2, 200620 yr Well first off i love the program. Did 2 flights so far and have noticed the same problem with the AI Traffic around me. When lining up before the runway i wait for traffic to land. 3 or 4 planes seem to be seperated by less than 1 mile and all execute missed approaches infront of me. When looking at the traffic on the TCAS they are way to close to each other. I even had to execute a missed approach in one of the flights. Also when in busy approach traffic areas i constantly hear the phrase "resume own navigation" rather then headings altitues and speeds for the AI traffic around me..I only have radar contact installed. Any clues as to what i am missing or doing wrong..Otherwise i seem to get okay instructions and directions..Also any news on if you will be including ground interaction soon??
January 2, 200620 yr Commercial Member i don't seperate ai planes, when you are on the ground. they are using their own intelligence.the ai have been handed off from departure to center, and center is telling them to resume own navigation, just like center tells you.rarely does center give you vectors.define ground interaction. what are you looking for?jd JD Read my blog
January 2, 200620 yr Hi there,You could try using a program like aismooth which will attempt to produce a more regular flow of arriving aircraft. All the best,John
January 3, 200620 yr It just seems odd that when you are waiting to takeoff 3 planes are landing together on your runway. But i guess thats out of your hands..With respect to the "resume own navigation" i am talking to the approach controller who is co-ordinating landing only when i hear this phrase, so i don't know why these AI aircraft aren't given vectors for landing..By ground interaction i was wondering if taxi instructions to the gate will be provided in the future. But overall i am very very impressed with the program. I have a lot of ideas about more dialog that could be added between atc and aircraft.. Will post that stuff later..
January 3, 200620 yr Thanks JohnI found it odd when arriving into Toronto on the TCAS all the aircraft were practically next to each other when i thought radar contact would control this. So just to get it right Radar Contact seperates traffic only in relation to my flight. So it 2 aircraft are 15 miles ahead of me Radar Contact will not provide any seperation. It just seems very unrealistic.
January 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member you don't have a powerful enough computer for me to seperate other planes from each other, and i don't have the code to do it.i've often read about having too many traffic.bgl files can result in multiple planes, in the same place at the same time, doing the same thing.i keep them away from you, and you away from them. they can collide all around the skies, if they want. i thought that was what the I in AI was supposed to prevent ;-)jd JD Read my blog
January 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member i've seen ai landing 2 miles out and continue landing onto the active runway. i'm not in control of them. there's more important stuff for me to do :-)it's possible that center and approach are on the same frequency, i doubt it, but it could happen. does it happen at all airports or just one. maybe i can look up the approach freq and see what the center freq is.progressive taxi instructions to the gate is a whole can of worms, i'm not sure i want to handle. not if there are ai on the ground too :-)jd JD Read my blog
January 3, 200620 yr As you she way AI behave is definitely unrealistic! We and guys like Michael, the author of AI smooth, are trying to solve some of the worst problems with the AI system. The two programs can complement each other and you may well want to try both together. As you correctly surmise RC is concentrating on keeping you safe. AI smooth will try to keep traffic arriving at an airport separated on final. All the best,John
