Create your own real life chatter files

Featured Replies

Hi allI don't know if somebody already wrote about this. I know poeple are often looking for good ATC prerecorded chatter files. Now just create the of your own, even if you don't have a scanner. Its very easy! That's how I do it:go to www.liveatc.net, there you'll find I think over a 100 live-feeds of dep, app, twr, gnd frequencies from around the world. Now the cool thing is, you'll also find an archive for every feed. So you can choose a date up to 10 day back, select a time-range and download a mp3-file of 30 minutes of ATC-feed for the given frequency and time. Now you just have to convert the mp3 to wav with any converting tool, split the file (ok, you have to listen to the 30 minutes to cut the file in the right place :-) ) and put the files in the correspondent winwood-folder. I just created something like 100 files for LSZH (Switzerland) and PHNL (Honolulu) like this. It works great!I would post those files but I'm not really sure if I'm allowed to (copyright?)...Hope you'll find the information useful!happy simming Patrick

Hi,I'm very interested in your LSZH chatter files. Any chance to email me the files? email adress: (antispam writing ;-) )lazzarigmxnetMay you tell me the exact folder where to put the file? Thanks a lot!!!

HiYes I would, the thing is, it's quite big even zipped. But I'll upload the files anytime very soon to avsim.com with instructions where to extract them. I hope you'll like 'em!Patrick

Patrick,Looking forward to checking them out. Those two airports are some of my favorites. Appreciate both the effort and passing the info on how to do it.BradKELP/KBIF http://home.elp.rr.com/bmbanister/BannerSig_BMBanister.jpgAMD Athlon XP 2600, Asus A7V600, 1GB PC3200 DDR, NVidia 128MB GeForce 6800, SB Live

Awesome! I was wanting some PHNL files. it's kind of quiet when flying around there. Please let us know when you upload them!!

Ok, it's done. I've uploaded the files yesterday. Just search for "chatter zurich" and "chatter phnl".There are 3 sets, one for PHNL, one for LSZH and one for Zurich Radar. Stay tuned, I'll do more files as soon as I find some time!Hope you'll enjoy!Patrick

Thanks for the uploads. I have a question though. How does RC4 know that the PHNL or LSZH files are there? I've read the manual and think I understand, but I don't see a $PHNL or $LSZH pointer in the any of the existing sub-directories. For PHNL shouldn't there be something in the 288 sub-directory pointing to PHNL? I see your pointer in the 109 sub-directory for switzerland, but not LSZH. I'm trying to fully understand the procedure so I can make some of my own. Thanks again for everything.BradKELP/KBIF http://home.elp.rr.com/bmbanister/BannerSig_BMBanister.jpgAMD Athlon XP 2600, Asus A7V600, 1GB PC3200 DDR, NVidia 128MB GeForce 6800, SB Live

Hi BradActually I wasn't sure about this before eather. It seems that when you tune to the frequency of an airport, RC simply looks if there is a folder named with the ICAO code. If there is one (like PHNL) it uses the files in there. If you would like to hear chatter on Honolulu Centre too though, you would have to put wavs in folder 288 or put a pointer to another directory, i.e. $usa.txt and you would hear the USA chatter on centre frequencies then. That's what I did with the pointer in 109, for "Switzerland Control" not for a specific airport. That's at least how I understand it, but please correct me if anybody feels I'm wrong. Maybe JD has a better answer.I hope this was more or less understandable ;-)Patrick

Thanks for the info. I'm tracking now how to do it.Brad
