February 13, 200620 yr First let me say that the 4.01 upgrade is excellent, a significant improvement, and a welcome one. OK, so there's still a small problem of stress and cadence in the sentences, but it would probably take huge resources to sort that one out. There's been a stange effect, though; on my first 4.01 flight, the ATC would occasionally get a step or two ahead of himself: it went like this:ATC: Speedbird 320 contact Melbourne Control on 130.45Me: Melbourne Control on 130.45, Speedbird 320 I then press 1, expecting to call Melbourne control and receive acknowledgement; but instead I get:ATC: Speedbird 320 descend flight level 280No call from me, no acknowledgement, just the instruction. It happened three times, but only when ATC had an instruction for me.Any ideas?Brian
February 14, 200620 yr Same problem for me. No acknowledgement option at all. Even with the pilot auto-reply box not cheked. It doesn't matter what aircraft I use.I use the "silent pilot" (no pilot wav's) feature to allow me to read back clearances, and then use the acknowledgement after I'm done. But after this upgrade, the controller just acknowledges the clearance readback before I get a chance to respond.Same with all ATC instructions. RC4 is not allowing acknowledgements from the user.It is like the auto-respond feature is on all the time. Thanks,Scott
February 14, 200620 yr Commercial Member there are a couple of places, where the pilot acks, without you doing anything, and without pilot auto reply. we'll sort that out in the next few monthsjd JD Read my blog
February 14, 200620 yr Well, that's strange JD. Before applying the most recent update, I was able to "ack" to the clearances, and other ATC instructions. Now there is no option at all to "ack" anything??? It never shows up in the Advdisplay window. Where before it did.In my case, the auto-reply feature is on all the time, even though the check box for pilot auto reply is NOT selected. So, this means that I am unable to repond to any ATC instruction using the keyboard since upgrading to version 4.0.3737Thanks!Scott
February 14, 200620 yr Commercial Member if you check pilot auto reply off, and save changes, then quit rc. and open rc, go to general options, and pilot auto reply is on?that is too wierd. what other options do you have set?if there was a bug, everyone would be having this problem, and i don't think that is the caseis the rcv3.dat file read only?jd JD Read my blog
February 15, 200620 yr OK JD.It works if I have "Play Pilot WAVs" checked. But if I have "Play Pilot WAVs" unchecked, then there is no option to acknowledge the transmission and ATC responds immediately, even with the "Pilot Autoreply" unchecked. Is this normal?I want to hear ATC but not the pilot response so I can answer in my own voice. I was able to do this prior to this update. Here are my settings...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/141962.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/141963.jpgI also tried this using folder 62 with NO files in it other than the silent pilot text file, leaving the "Play Pilot WAVs" checked, but it still didn't work. Prior to the update, I was using the silent pilot(no WAVs) option and it was working. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/141964.jpgI hope I'm making sense. Thanks,Scott
February 16, 200620 yr Hello ScottI have had exactly the same problem since the upgrade. My settings are identical to yours. There is one other issue, using the Silent Pilot process, I also lose the facility to request a repeat of an instruction. As you observe, it is as though the auto-repeat option is checked. To be honest, I was under the impression that this had now been accepted by JD. Obviously this 'Silent Pilot' facility is an unofficial thing and I think it was a casualty of the re-coding of the voice process. I am rather hoping that it will be possible to reinstate it in the next upgrade.Bud
February 16, 200620 yr Hi Bud,The silent pilot was, indeed, an unofficial 'work around'. I've just tried it with v4.01 with the same results that you get. I suspect the only way to apply this work aroung in v4.01 is for us to generate an entire set of 'silent' pilot wavs. All the best,John
February 16, 200620 yr Hello John,That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that. Might give it a go when I have some time. Tho' unofficial, the Silent Pilot process was, if you like, for me the icing on a delicious cake Bud
February 16, 200620 yr Hi Bud,I'll run all this past jd and the group. Maybe 'silent pilot' should become an official part of the release ;-)All the best,John
February 16, 200620 yr I have the same problem...I have Otto controlling the com and plane. The only plave I noticed Otto jumping the gun and changing course prior to being instructed by approach is when going from base to final.
