February 5, 200719 yr I've had RC for about a year now but I'm still having one problem: When to act on my own. When I first take off on runway heading sometimes RC tells me what course to fly and some times NOT. Sometime I head for the 1st waypoint and RC says nothing and sometimes it say, "What are you doing?" I never know when RC is finished vectoring me to the runway. Sometimes if I dont take actions for landing on my own RC never "instructs" me again and I donn't know if I should start taking landing actions on my own or wait, wait, wait..... It's not always the same. Have I missed something from the very start? Thanks for any help in this matter. I'm not happy to ue Fs2004 ATC after RC. jerry
February 5, 200719 yr Commercial Member if you are given a heading to fly (runway heading or a specific heading) that is what you should doif you don't, then you're flight plan has a checkpoint within 30 miles of the departure airport, and you are considered to be flying a departure procedure. you will never be given a heading for a departure procedure.also, the clue is in the clearance from clearance delivery, does he say "via departure procedures then as filed" or "then as filed"read the section in the manual on departure procedures, and i know there are several tutorials on flying departure proceduresjd JD Read my blog
February 6, 200719 yr Author Thanks for this info, that seemed to have helped me. I assume that the same mabe true upon arrival at you destination airport also. Thanks jerry
February 6, 200719 yr Commercial Member at your destination, arrival takes over, and gives you vectors to fly. unless you ask for an iap approach, and then again,m you're on your own to fly the approach plate on your own. no vectors from approach eitherjd JD Read my blog
