February 17, 200719 yr I usually hand over comms to the co-pilot.Saves a lot of time, quite realistic and works well....to a point...Problem is at a change of frequency, he never re-tunes the nav radio to the new freq, so I have to do it (press 1) and if I don't the controllers start getting upset and repeating the request!Even if I give him control of the plane and comms he doesn't switch freq's so I can't leave him to fly a long oceanic as we'll lose contact in the middle of the ocean!?So, question 1) should he be able to do this?2) If he should what am I doing wrong?3)If he can't why did the Avsim reviewer tell me he did in a private email asking about it specifically????! (OK, you can't answer that one!) though the fact that I was led to believe he would do this was a big factor in my deciding to get it so that long oceanics could be left to run.I am using HJG DC-8 and POSKY 744F with 3rd party panels. One more thing, if I do leave it to run, and miss that mid ocean call to change freq, do I get my IFR cancelled (and the flight ruined) like the under M$ ATC or what happens?Phil
February 17, 200719 yr Commercial Member 1) do you have auto tune on contact checked or unchecked?2) try checking the autotune on contact3) maybe i can't change the radio stack on your third party panels and planes. try it with a stock ms plane, if you can stand it, and see what happensjd JD Read my blog
February 17, 200719 yr Author Tune on contact is checked...I don't think I can stand MS default! That said what would be preventing auto tune working? A non standard radio stack? If so I could call up the standard stack maybe instead on the sub panel?Phil
February 17, 200719 yr Commercial Member i don't see why rc's co-pilot can't change the freq's on your installation. he surely does every where elsejd JD Read my blog
February 19, 200719 yr Author I tried the POSKY 744F with the default MS 747 panel - and still the radios are not getting re-tuned by the co-pilot who seems happy enough handling the comms otherwise.Have not tried a completely MS planes as yet though...Phil
