June 2, 200719 yr Hi all around!I'm using CPFlight's MP www.cpflight.com. When having RCV4 and AdvDisplay active I cannot command the HDG-bug via the MCP. The respective calls seems to be intercepted and going lost anywhere in between. With the mouse it

June 2, 200719 yr That is another problem: How to find the key?In the 737KBd.ini coming from CPFLight there are the linesMCP Increase Heading=6,72,41MCP Decrease Heading=2,119,42included. How this can be translated in key-combinations?The following lines as well from the 737Kbd.ini may be an explanation for specialists - not for me though :-(; Format is:; [string]=Modifier,KeyChar,Command; ; Where Modifier can be a binary combination of:; TAB : 0x01; CTRL : 0x02; SHIFT : 0x04;; Where Command is enumerated in SimLibCommandDefines.hWhen I know the combination I can change a similar one inside RCV4 from the menu...Thanks again!Bert

June 14, 200718 yr Hi allI have the same problem, I removed the entries that starts with CTRL+SHFT in the keyboard section in the start screen of RC but it has no effect at all. Hope you find a way around the problem.Greetings Ruud
June 15, 200718 yr Hi again!Sorry for the delay - we have been working heavily on a new book for FS X (with SP 1).I've done what Ruud did and tried to avoid any combinations with CRTL + W. But unfortunately no success at all. Maybe the failure is not that...Any idea? All the best so far...Bert
June 15, 200718 yr Bert,Search the forum of CPflight. Your problem is described there. The keycombination (I think it's CTRL+SHIFT+H) gives a problem when using the PMDG 737/747. Change, in CTRL+SHIFT+I and all should work fine.Luc BrusselmansBelgium
June 15, 200718 yr Hi LucI tried that one,but it did not work, the only key that is working is the CTRL+SHIFT+H combination for the heading knob on the MCP.And that one is not working anymore when I startup RC.I have made a lot of other combinations to make it work ( believe me I did) but nothing to solve the problem.Did a search on the CPFLIGHT forum, but could not find anything that could help, the problem is not the MCP,but the RC software.Greetings Ruud
June 16, 200718 yr Ruud,That's strange because that change made it work for me.But let's start at the beginning. What plane do you want to use? Is it the PMDG 737?If so, on the website of CPflight, you can find all the assignments that are used for the PMDG.The heading bug uses two different combinations:MCP Increase Heading = Ctrl + Shift + HMCP Decrease Heading = Ctrl + F8Those combinations should work IF a) radar contact is not running and :( the PMDG is configured to use those keyboardcommands. Is the heading selector working with those combinations if RC4 is not running? If so, try changing the first assignment into ctrl + shft + I. The heading selector should still be in working order if RC4 is not running...Problem I had was that, if RC4 was running, the headingselect only responded in one direction (keycombo was being highjacked by RC4). When I closed RC4, the MCP reacted normally. This 'bug' is described in the forum of CPflight. So I changed the MCP Increase heading to ctrl + shft + I and the problem was solved. If this doesn't work for you, I guess that means that RC4 doesn't use the default settings anymore. I am positive that I didn't change any keyboardsettings in RC4 (using default settings as installed straight out of the box) and everything works like a charm.I am using the MCP on every flight for the last couple of months with RC4 and I have had no more problems after the change in the keycombo..If you didn't change the hardware of your pc, you could try a reinstall of RadarContact. That way, you are sure you have the default settings back.I hope you find a solution to the problem. Luc Brusselmans BelgiumPS, It is easier to change the keyboard assignments from within the pulldown menu inside Fs9. There you can just change the keyboard by typing the correct combination without knowing the numbercode.
June 16, 200718 yr LucI use the PMDG 737-800 and the combo I use for heading are "increase heading CTRL+SHIFT+H" "decrease heading M", I also have the EFIS hardware connected to the MCP, can that give a problem to??Just made a flight and it's late now, thanks for the fast answer, I will try it later on and will come back to let you know how it went.Greetings Ruud
June 16, 200718 yr Hallo LucAs allways when there is a problem, can't go to bed until it is solved, so got it going this time.Your remark that there was a solution for the problem made me search the forum again and someone else had it fixt: this are his words>>>>"OK, the problem is solved, thanks to Graham Crossley on the CPflight forum. All you need to do if you encounter this problem is assign a diferrent (free) key combo to the function MCP heading increase, via the PMDG drop-down menu in FS 2004 (I used CTRL+SHIFT+U).Then go to the PMDG directory in your FS 2004 folder, and copy the file 737Kbd.ini to the clipboard. Then paste it in the CPflight main folder, thereby overwriting the old 737Kbd.ini (just make sure to back it up first, just in case...)After doing this the problem is gone, and the MCP works perfect in conjunction with RC4. The only question that remains is the HOW? How is it possible that the key combo CTRL+SHIFT+H is "hijacked" by RC4 when it is not in the assignment menu?...well never mind, it works now.Regards,Arjen Nederstigt "<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
June 16, 200718 yr JD,In this case it is not the question of which software causes the problem and which program is the victim...Both programs are working fine if used separatly as they are written as separate programs. There is the unfortunate limitation of usable keyboard combinations that can be extracted from a standard (be it AZERTY or QWERTY)keyboard. So in this case it happens that RC uses somewhere along the line a combination that interferes with the MCP module. There is of course also the fact that most people, including myself, are using the MCP for an application that it was NOT build for in the first place (but for project Magenta). By doing so, there had to be thought about a way to use it with the PMDG 737 and the keystrokes...What surprises me is the number of solutions possible. I have tried some of the answers here myself and only the CTRL+SHFT+I combo works on my rig. (But that doesn't seem to work for the others...).My guess is that there are quite a number of possible combinations that work but that they are keyboard/country/language dependent.Have a nice weekend...and thanks for a great addition to our flying with RC4Luc BrusselmansBelgium
