June 4, 200719 yr Hello,Thanx for the great product. I hope the next version of Radar Contact may be avaliable both for FS2004 and FSX.My question is, is there a possibility to change the speed of conversation and have it in two levels, one as it is and the second a bit faster. When it is a lot of traffic I sometimes get my instructions later , i.e. in approach and I sometimes miss the descent in time... then I am in a big hurry to descent and need to use breaks a lot or sometimes even miss my approach. How is it working when approach takes over. There is no problem when I approach from the south and land in a southern direction, thus I need to go around the aerodrome anyways but if I am coming from the south and landing in northern direction I get approach frequency too late for my smooth descent. That is of course also a weather issue. Sometimes winds are not in favor to descent in such a short time. Is there a way to get approach clearance earlier? Or maybe not earlier but when I am leveled at FL110 RC sometimes wait for a minute to get me down further. And that is sometimes not too good for a smooth descent for the runway. In next version - Is there a possibility of having a sound like "TREE" instead of what it is now "THREE".I thank the team for a great product. I surely can't fly without RC.Just no way!!! :)Best regards/Artur Artur Scholl
June 4, 200719 yr Commercial Member you want me to decide when to speed things up or slow things down?you can always ask for a repeat of the last instruction.we'll see what we can do with the number treejd JD Read my blog
June 4, 200719 yr Author Hmm ... I think that I would feel more comfortable while approaching if I could change to approach freq a bit earlier and to have maybe two settings, one normal talk, two a bit faster.I take an example.Approach to ESSA (Stockholm Arlanda) to Runway 01L.I am coming from the south. Now, at FL110 I am told to switch to approach. It takes some one minute to get instructions from RC to descend to FL80.That minute just cost me descent time.Another issue is when I approach Runway 19R (opposite side).I have more time to descent then for 01L.So, conclusion is if the approach can take over sooner when I am landing in the same direction as I am flying.:)I hope yopu understand my English. :)Thanx again/Artur Artur Scholl
June 4, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Artur,With a far-side approach you'll be cleared down to FL120 and for these situations I keep to 280kts until I descend below FL100.However, for near-side approaches you need to be at 250kts max. The easiest solution would be to reduce your speed to 230kts or even 210kts at FL110 as you have less distance (and time) to descend. Going slower will give you that extra time.Hope that helps. June 4, 200719 yr Author Yeah, it might give me but not always.Depends on winds when I am in Level Change.I'll try to go in Vertical Speed mode and hope I do not increase too much in speed.I will try experimenting. That what flying is about, is it? :)Thanx again for the great product.Cant wait for the update!!:) Artur Scholl
June 4, 200719 yr Moderator I also have problems getting down quickly enough with FL change. One such approach is from the south into LIMC. With careful planning it is possible but it's probably easier with v/s mode plus speed hold. Maybe use of the spoiler and even lowering gear which does happen in the real world. The correct altitude is more important than speed with a near-side approach.Glad you like RC. You'll love v5 even more but it's still a long way off.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
