December 27, 200718 yr How-dee!After having purchased a variety of add-ons for FS9, I realized the weak point of the whole program was the ATC. So I went shopping, which led me to RC4, which led me to downloading the manual three weeks ago, and here we are. My first flight with RC4 completed.I fly KPHX-KABQ via SJN.ABQ DP more than any other route. This was the first RC4 flight in the logbook. I had a few questions, but only one did not get answered from previous posts, at least as far as I can tell. I'm running RC4 concurrent with FS Commander on a WideFS client, and with AISmooth and Ultimate Traffic Spring/Summer 2007 at 99% on the server. Here's what happened:Arrivals were on 17, but I selected 8 ILS Visual and RC4 let me do it. The only problem was as the 737 was about to touch down, there was a Learjet on the runway and taxiing to his parking spot. I missed him by about six feet. He was definitely taxiing, courtesy of what I saw in the FSC moving map. Did I do something wrong, because it was my impression that RC4 would hold ground traffic to prevent these sorts of encounters? To those of you who are responsible for RC4, I say, very nice job! I am most impressed.

December 28, 200718 yr Good morning! Why did I do it? Because I could! That's one of the things I like about this program. I can do it my way, and to #### with procedures that don't match the real world. Yea, me!:(There's actually a better explanation, but I don't want to bore anybody with nostalgic memories of watching air traffic at KABQ. Especially since I don't have any good pictures to show.:)
December 28, 200718 yr A few options to consider:First, are you using a "cross runway" AFCAD for KABQ that allows simultaneous use by AI of non-parallel runways? If you install one a reminder to use the scenery rebuild after making any AFCAD changes. With these runways only fifty degrees apart think about using one (longer) for take-offs and the other for landings. You do this in AFCAD by opening each runway and FS requires you to these properties the same at each end of the same runway. You might set 17/35 (a very long runway with no navaids - the length being required for high density altitude take-offs) for TO only and use the other two as 3 and 8 for landings only - which ever you think is best for weather and your type of aircraft. Search this forum for the freeware AISmooth topic. You can reduce approach congestion. If you do not have a TCAS gauge on your panel install one. Aircraft on take-off roll will show as well but not taxiing aircraft. With a brief look at the KABQ airport layout and the 3 and 8 ILS plates, I guess the navaids on 3 and 8 only are due to high terrain on the east side. I doubt if 17/35 is used for arrivals but is dedicated for take-offs.
December 31, 200718 yr I modified the AFCAD file as follows, which the logic circuits have been willing to accept so far...Arrivals and departures on 8/26Arrivals on 3 and 35Departures on 21 and 17No runway intrusions so far. All traffic is behaving well. I don't honestly remember which direction winds were prevalent, and that's embarrassing, because I lived there 24 years and only moved away in 2001.So far, I've only been thrown under the bus once by the RC4 critique, but when it did happen...ouch. All in all, we're having fun.
January 2, 200818 yr 3 and 21 must match, and 17 and 35 must match. Both ends of a runway must be the same, at least in FS9.
