100 percent CPU usage

Featured Replies

Hi,RC and Txt display are the only 2 programs running on a client PC (Windows XP - 1.9 Ghz) connected with FS through a registered Wideclient/Wideserver v6.75.Most of the time there is a big delay and upon checking it appears the CPU usage of the client PC is practically always 100 %.Take it this is not normal. Is there any remedy ?Kind regardsTony

Over 90 percent is taken by Wideclient.RC 4.1XP SP2I have five more PC's running with the same Wideclient/Wideserver v6,75 and not one has problems with high CPU use.

send me an email, and i'll send you a link to download 4.3let's see if that makes a difference.there never was a 4.1, only 4.0, 4.01, 4.2 and 4.3, so i wonder what you havejd

Actually it is 4.01 (v 4.0.3737 is shown)Will email you.Thx and regards

I'm seeing exactly the same! I purchased Radar Contact about a week ago, and I've been wondering about the very sluggish performance. RC 4.3 is running on a laptop with Wideclient, FSX and latest version of FSUIPC at the other end. Before launching radar contact CPU usage is 10-20% (Active Sky X is running), but a few seconds after connecting RC, CPU usage jumps to 100% and stays there. From the process list I can see Wideclient using between 80% and 95%.Disconnecting RC drops Wideclient CPU usage back to just 1%.Can you suggest a fix this? Otherwise I think I will have to reinstall RC on my FSX computer.Tom

OK Tom, we may assume that there basicly is something wrong irrespective of software version.May I make a few more observations abt my setup : Monitoring the Wideclient CPU-use during flight I noticed that :- just the connection between RC and FS shows a 100 % usage- when there is an action in RC (e.g. heading call) the usage drops ;- when FS is paused the usage drops considerably ;Adding extra memory to the PC does not change anything .RC works, but the high CPU load too often causes big delay in reponse time and leads to skipping / mixing up some calls.Hope JD can find the remedy.Tony

i don't use widefs, so i can't troubleshoot or speculate on the cause. half of the beta testers do use widefs, so i've shot them an email about this threadjd

Hi JD,Pete has made a special Wideclient version as you may have read in the meantime. It appears to work OK and does not devorate the whole CPU capacity. Thanks for your helpKind regardsTony
