  1. >If you want good systems modeling, grab a copy of Fly! ( >FS2002 is comming up in that department ) Peter Can you explain please , what you mean by systems modelling?. I "think" I know but would like your further input.BTW -- I am awaiting the demo of X-Plane (my son downloaded and burned the 60 meg demo using cable). When I try it out , I will specifically use it in regard to flight modelling and see what you are talking about in regard to it.Does anybody know if any kind of demo is available for Fly!Barry

  2. Using firstly E1 followed by E2 then E3 , I have managed to start all three of the Junkers engines-- and I can control the engines individualy .. But how do I get back to being able to control all 3 simultaneously -- I have tried E123 -- but all I can get is control over engines 1 & 2 simultaneously. What am I missing? Thanks Barry

  3. I have been using FS2002 for about 6 months now -- I can download a new unfamiliar type aircraft , start it up , fly and land it easily within minutes. Now, I am pretty sure that, as a non-reallife flyer, I would find it impossible to get into some advanced aircraft cockpit and just simply take of and land in it. Probably couldn't even find where to put the key in the ignition!!!!!So , is this really just a game? Is there some aircraft/panel out there that really does simulate a complete aircraft and the experience of flying?Barry

  4. Well -- at least by me!! :)I am a bit surprised that we do not hear more of this aircraft in this forum . It has a certain something about it -- can't really describe it. I think the external model could look better , the VC is kind of OK, the 2d panel is very good and the sounds are great! But , overall, it is one of the few aircraft that makes me feel like I am really flying an aircraft --- not that I would know of course!! Never flown one in my life ! But -- it has that something , which if I fly it for long enough, I start to get images of "Raiders of the Lost Arc", "633 Squadron" , "Dambusters" . After a while, I start to feel like I am starring in my own B grade Hollywood movie. It's a ######y aircraft to fly -- needing a lot of playing with the mixture controls - even at sea level - to get it started and going. So what about it -- who else is flying this oldie? Maybe some of you wannabes flying high speed Falcons, etc should try this one out .Barry

  5. > This all comes at a premium price >though. For less money, and slightly less performance go >with an XP & DDR RAM. Be forewarned though, this platform is >at the end of it's desigh cycle. Good!! - I ALWAYS buy my computers when they are at the end of their design cycle. This way I get value for money, I get a design with all the bigs worked out and I still get a big incease in performance over what I already have.Barry

  6. Firstly , let me explain a little. I belong to the school of thought that believes that the "Upgrade path" in computer purchasing is a myth. The reason for this involves money and value for money. It has always seemed to me that most computer systems are upgradeable for about 12 months before a new socket system, etc is introduced . So this means that , after purchasing the latest and greatest , you only have 12 months to upgrade -- far too early for me with my limited funds. After, I spend a lot of money on a computer system, I am not looking to upgrade after such a short time -- by the time I believe that I have got my moneys' worth out of the machine, it is virtually impossible to upgrade so I buy/build a new system. So for somebody who now has (and has had for about 3 years)a P3-500 with 256 meg SDRAM and a TNT2 video card -- what system should I be looking at within the next 6 months.? And why? I suspect that the answer is going to be to wait until the AMD XP completely reaches the end of its' design life and the new AMD is produced, wait a little while longer for the old XP price to fall and then pounce . This would give a considerable performance increase over what I have now plus value for my money. The only problem I have is that I have only ever built Intel machines and found them very easy to build -- I have read about all sorts of problems building AMDs - usually associated with overheating probs, noise, power supplies and drivers.Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks Barry

  7. I have found some conflicting websites -- I am running Windows ME with 512 meg RAM. I now have my VcacheMax set to 61440 and VCacheMin set to 0 in accordance with one of these conflicting websites.I get reasonable framerates (except at addon airports) considering what others have quoted in this forum during the past few months -- but I am trying to cure the random lockups/screen freeze that happen every now and then .Barry
