  1. Hi all reading this thread, First of all (given all the reactions in this thread, and many Emails I get) it's good to hear that there still is much interrest in keeping this freeware Groundhandling package (Pushback, Taxispeed and more, dating back to 2005) alive for P3Dv4/5. Since I don't use P3D (although I'm actively following P3D/64bit developments), I'm dependant on your feedback because I can't test it myself. Generally, the current public release (V6.0, uploaded as file rcbgh-60.zip) works fine in P3Dv4.* and P3Dv5.* I have enough confimation on that .... With two remarks: 1. Some highend addons (like some PMDG aircraft) don't like my speed commanding (for free-control Pushback and Taxispeed) via SimConnect. That's a matter of conflicting code / functionality between designs; sorry, I have no remedy for that. 2. It assumes that you install the package inside the P3Dv4/5 folder structure (in your main \gauges\ folder). Has to do with path-references in my install instructions and soundfile searchpath's Now, I have made a small update package GHV6.1. Which addresses the problem for some small aircraft tilting over at Pushback start (IMHO: a 'bug' in the flightmodels of those aircraft), adds a few other minor features, and makes it possible to install the package outside the P3Dv4/5 folder structure .... But I haven't uploaded V6.1 for public use (only available for people that contact me via Email), because I want to include a proper install description when you want to install GH outside the main P3Dv4/5, using the add-on.xml method. Which appears to be common practice (and very logical feature) in P3Dv4/5. My problem is this: I have studied the P3D4/5 SDK on how to use the add-on.xml method, and made an example add-on.xml file, but some obscure reason it works for some people, but not for others. As Juan (J.J.) said above, it works for him; and I have a few reports from other people that it works in P3Dv5 too (outside the P3Dv5 folder structure). But not for a few other people; so I'm lost as-to why-not. No doubt it will eventually be cleared.... Cheers, Rob Barendregt
  2. Hi Emile, See my Email reply to you 😉 Cheers, Rob
  3. Hi Sean, Please contact me via Email (not: PM on Avsim). See README for my Email address. What I need to know: - Where did you install the \RCB_Groundhandling6\ folder exactly ? - Please attach the panel.cfg in which you have added GHv6. Rob
  4. Hi, Juan (user jjgp101) confirmed that the GHV6.1 update works fine in P3Dv5.1 Means that (with this update) installing GHv6 outside the P3D folder structure (instead of in the main ...P3D\gauges\ folder) works Okay. Rob
  5. If anyone is interested: I have a small update (V6.1) available as beta. Besides some small fixes (like some aircraft tilting over at pushback start/stop), you can now install the GH package in any folder outside the P3D folder structure. That is: where P3D can find addon gauges. So it's easier to install new P3Dv5 versions without the need to re-install the GH6 package. (solves the problem reported by user Emile, posted above) If interested, send me an EMail (see the README of GHv6 for my Email address). Rob
  6. Just do a search for file rcbgh-60.zip in the Avsim library. The download description says it all; and for details: download it, and read the detailed README please. Rob
  7. Ok, thanks for the confimation. So that also includes proper soundplaying during Pushback ?? Rob
  8. Did anyone try to use my GroundhandlingV6 addon in P3Dv5 ?? And if so, does it work Ok or not ?? Thanks for any reply. Rob Barendregt
  9. Sorry for the late reply (missed the post). Since you see a black window opening, most probably one of two things is wrong: 1. Some error in the panel.cfg definition, like a missing Window**= under WindowTitles 2. The panel.cfg is Ok, but the gauges cannot be found by P3D. Are you sure you have a folder ….P3D\Gauges\rcb-gauges\ (note the minus sign in the name) with all files in it ?? If you Email me your panel.cfg as attachment, I'll have a look (see the README for my Email address) Rob
  10. Hi, You say that "some" of the sounds fail to load. Do you hear ANY sounds (like the enigine reving / down, Window wipers, etc ) ?? Rob
  11. Hi Stan, No, you're not mistaken. The car will drive only as good as the scenery definition allows it..... Particularly with bridges and "spikes" in the default mesh/scenery elevation….. If you would taxi an aircraft on such spots, you will see the same problem. As a sidenote: AI-generated road vehicles may not have a problem at such spots; but frankly, there's really nothing realistic about them anyway. Just a visual gimmick (IMHO) Rob
  12. Are you sure you are using V101 ?? Because this spontaneous "engine shutdown" (when driving at higher altitudes) was solved in that update. Rob
  13. Yep, drives a lot better that way then with just a joystick. I use rudder pedals, and a flightyoke for steering ... Best regards, Rob
  14. Not sure how you come to this conclusion, but its wrong. The setting of the ParkingBrake (on or off) has NO effect on the ability to shift the transmission lever out-of Park mode in this sim addon. Regards, Rob PS: I assumed your statement applies to this Chevy sim addon. In the real Suburban, or most cars with an auto-transmission, there is a problem named "torque lock" when parking on a hill. Meaning it might be difficult to put the lever into or out-of Park position, because the weight of the car puts too much force on the parking pawl in the transmission. To prevent this "torque lock" problem, it is suggested to apply ParkingBrakes before setting the transmission lever into Park position. And then, before driving away, move the lever out-of Park position before you release the Parking brake. But this detail isn't modelled; hence my comment.
  15. A Caution text from the real Suburban user manual: "" Do not try to shift to P (Park) if the vehicle is moving. If you do, you could damage the transmission. Shift to P (Park) only when the vehicle is stopped. "" So also in this Chevy Suburban (both real and in this sim addon), it IS possible; though advised not too .....LoL. Cheers, Rob
  16. Hi, did you fully understand what is ment by "applying the brakes" in the QuickStart guide ?? That's either pulling your stick backward from center (default setting), or applying left-toebrake on a rudder-pedal set (you need to change the panel.cfg then). My guess is, you are Braking by using a key/button assigned to the standard key/button operated "Brakes" function in P3D. In this model, that has no effect. Reason: This "flightmodel" models a fully contiguous and proportional Brakes system; like when using toebrakes, which is based on setting a true brake "axis" in the sim .. Keys/buttons that generate the standard FSX/P3D "Brakes" commands, do not give a proper proportional response: the generated Brake force depends on how fast / how long "Brakes" commands are generated. Which makes it almost impossible to command a steady brake force for a while, like 20% , 50% or 70%. To see if you are really operating the Chevy's 'brake pedal' , open the Speed/RPM 2D window (Shift-1) and observe the left (red) bar in the RPM gauge. Which visualises the "brake pedal" force. Regards, Rob
  17. First question being: which version of the F35 package did you install ?? Second question: have you installed (at least the free, unregistered version of) FSUIPC ?? Without that, the F35B will behave like you describe …. Rob
  18. Just Emailed the update; hope it helps….. Please post here if it helps, or (if not) if my suggestion to change the contact_points does the trick. Cheers, Rob
  19. Ok, I understand now. This is with the freestyle Pushback, right ? As I said, this shouldnt happen, and is a problem caused by wrong balance of those aircraft (resulting in pitching up when negative speed is commanded) But if you send me an Email (see my README for Email address), I will send you a version that does a much less acceleration at the start of the pushback (so when you release the brakes) That might solve the problem, (prevents it from extreme pitch-up). Rob
  20. Sorry, but I dont understand what you exactly mean. Is this tipping up problem with Pushback (and which version) or with Taxispeed .? And is it when the aircraft starts to move, or when you stop pushback or taxispeed ? A known problem with some light aircraft is, that if it moves backward and you apply brakes, it tips up (or even tips over completely) . That just means that the balance of the aircraft (contact points) arent correct. Rob
  21. Your conclusion is correct, I think. Especially proven by your finding that if you abort my Pushback function via a mouseclick on the gauge, the backward speed immediately goes from -3 to +3 knots, and then slowly stops. It means that PMDG uses the same speed-force SimConnect function as I do (there is no other way of doing it) , to prevent the aircraft to roll back when their code "concludes" the aircraft should not be moving. This also explains the shaking during Pushback: two independant pieces of code are now trying to force the speed, and that obviously conflicts. Meaning, I can't make it work for this aircraft addon. Thanks anyway for doing the test and describing it so clearly; at least it solves this mistery why my generic "free" pushback doesn't work properly here … Rob
  22. You're welcome; glad to hear you like it. Still puzzled why the freestyle Pushback doesn't work for some high-end aircraft addons. I can only assume that these aircraft have something built-in that prevents them from rolling backward under certain conditions, using the same SimConnect function (speedforcing) as I do in my gauge. And obviously, these implementation codes conflict then. But if someone can do the following tests, maybe that makes it more clear: 1. When trying this Freestyle Pusback in this 747, is there any visible indication of Brakesforce in my Brakes gauge in GHv6 ? 2. Does it make a difference if all engines are off or running ? 3. If you position the 747 (by e.g. using SLEW) on a slope in the scenery (like 10 degrees or so), does it start to roll backward when the Brakes are off ?? Rob
  23. That depends on the aircraft you use it in. Some aircraft (due to incorrect modelling IMHO) have the tendancy to flip over when brakes are applied when the aircraft is rolling backward. In such cases: Yes, use clicking PB Off to stop, instead of using brakes. Rob
