I just purchased a new BFG 9800gt 1G meme and its not as fast as my old 7900GT, the only thing I can note is that is does not require as much power as my older card and I am just running FS-9 about 98% of the time. I hgave tried a few driver sets and not much difference. Has anyone found similar issues or does anyone have this card that works well with FS and if so what drivers are you using.Thanks Shayne

Hi everyone, over the last year I have got an out of memeory error about 3 ti,es while using FS9. I use it alot so I thought it was strange. Any suggestions on tracking whta it may be?? I usually run active sky,Flight Environment or Real Environment and I can't seem to pin it doen to any one particular thng except maybe active sky. Strtange thing is I just replaced my old 7900 GT 128MB89 card with a new BFG 9800GT 1g card and its actually no improvment, it evne has lower power requirments then the older card, thats a whole nother story. Yes it happens when I am selecting a differnet aircraft other than the ultralight but it only happens wih some so its hard to pin down. I have not changed any video drivers so I don't think its that. I havea couple of aftermarket planes that work and a few that have never worked so I can't figure out what is goin on. The other thing that is strange is it just started happening and I didn't really change anything.Shayne

Hi everyone, has any one else had this problem, it happens with many of the microsoft aircraft as well but others still work. I get the same freeze then the error message at fsx.exe.Any help would be great as it used to work but I am not sure what could casue this. I am running Windows XP and service pack 1 and 2,any help or suggestions would be great as it used to work without this and I can't figure out what I may have installed that contributed to the problem.Thanks shayne

Thanks I will try that, one strange thing is I flew there putting in ANU in the default GPS sent me there and there was the scenery. Strange but what can we say.Thanks Again.Shayne

Hi everyone, I will be going to Antigua end of this month and wanted to fly my leg from San Juan to Vc Bird Intl so I downloaded the scenery here at Avsim and added it but I can't find it in the Scenery lookup area. I have tried everything from the Caribbean to St-Johns to the air port code of ANU and it seems there is no Caribbean in my flight sim, any thoughts on this baffeling mystery would be great. Strangely enough I also looked in FSX and found no Antigua or VC Bird Intl.Thanks in advance.Shayne

I get an appliocation has generated an exception it can't handle, press to debug. I tried that and get registered de-bugger is not valid.Any help would be great.Shayne

Hi everyone, my HD crashed and after re-installing FS9 I can no longer use my mouse to walk around aircraft and Zoom in and out with the wheel on top and I can't rememeber if there is a special program or something that does that. Any thougths would be great and I am going to look into active camera but I never paid anything for the use the last time and it has been a long time since I have had to resore.Thanks Shayne

I was hoping to pick the brains of the community that know a lot more about computers then me. My C drive crashed and I have now installed a new 500 gig Seagate Drive and re-installed XP ect. I had backed up the entire FS-9 folder so I have it on two other drives and was wondering what the best way to re-stroe it would be. I understand I will have to re-install my payway stuff but I am trying to avoid doing all my add-onn sceneries. I also have the CFG backed up somewhere but can't find it yet. Any suggestions would be great and thanks in advance.Shayne

I am not sure what the best way to g oabout his so I figured I would ask people that know. I have built a new computer, Mother board up and its a Duo Core 2 2.4 with 2gigs of ram and Nvidia Geforce 7900gtko video card and I ahve had it along with my original C: drive 40 gig Western Digital drive and when I built this a few months back I was able to keep the C drive and all my stuff but now I have two extra drives, both serial ATA Seagate drives , one 160 G and one 300 G and my old C drive has only 2 Gigs left so I would like to move everything or take FS9 and all the addons and move it to another drive or just change my c: drive with one of the newer one and I am not sure the best/easiest way of doing this. Any help would be great as I am okay with computers but not as knowledgable as many.Thanks in advance for your help, I tried to search but couldn't get what I wanted.Shayne

I installed the FS Genisis full rockies install along with the west Coast terrain mesh all downloaded here at Avsim and lost what seems like about half of my winter snow textures covering teh mountains, any suggestions.Shayne

Is anyone else having this problem?? I live in Costa Mesa CA and we have had some good Santa Ana winds at 30 plus mph and every time I download real weather on FSX it is no where close to what the airport or local cities are having. Another example would be if I creat my own wind layer and I tell it to have the wind from 110 degrees then it actually shows up about 15 -20 degrees away from what I have requested. I have also check on Snow and rain and they do not always work as the real wether at the location. Did the weather genration enginer get an over hall becasue it does work fairly well in FS9 and they at least are very close but not so in FSX????Shayne

I have been using FSX as most of us have and wanted to go back to FS9 to fly a few United Virtual flights for the airline and went to change the load for the 737 flight and got the error that said Could not detect a valid flight simulator installation. I thought that was strange as I didn't change anything ith FS9 so I fired up the sim and was going to take a look to see what I got. The plane loaded okay and I was reading it for take off and a little test flight jsut to make sure. Once I started moving my frames that usually are around 30-40 everywhere in FS9 with all the addons, dropped to 1-2-3-6 once I changed views and went back into the cockpit. I have hunfredes of hours in the 737 and never any problems but one thing I noticed was that if I hit the ALT key in every view but the cockpit the frames would come back to normal. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great as I lovet his aircraft. I have a new Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 and 2 gig of ram along with the Nvidia Egeforce 7900gt ko and I have not had a single problem with it in the past even with the 737 and I have flown it lots because I can go anywhere with any scenery and all the AI aircraft and never have any frame rate isuues. Again, any info would be great. I havenot yet trried to reinstall as I didn't wantto loose all my addon liveries.Thanks Shayne

I have noticed that in California in the Sierra Mountians, and the Rockies in Colorado in the dead of winter have hardly any snow and only a few peaks covered here and there. I also notice this in winter around Douch Harbor. It seems as if the hard winter textures that were in FS9 were much better and even looked nicer then the mountains in FSX. Can someone who knows what they are doing offer a fix, it seems like we have new terain mesh and the mountains themselves look better but the textures that cover them are not the greatest. The new farmland and rural stuff looks great but the mountians really take away from the experience. Any thoughts suggestions ect would be great.Shayne

I have been playing with FSX now for about a week and I think t has lots of potential but some things like the deserts of CO, CA are awefull. I tried something this morning and was very suprised and was wondering if you guys can duplicate this. I loaded up the Baron, changed the season to winter and went to Telluride Colorada and no snow. For those of you that don't know Telluride is located at 9000 feet and has snow on the ground and in the mountains for about 7-9 months out of the year and many of the surrounding peaks are glacial and never completely clear. The big questions is how would you fix this?? The mountians look great and flying in winter is one of the great things we can do in the sim but flying throught parts of the Rockies with no snow is unacceptable. I also tried Aspen and only the highest peaks have snow, can anyone confirm that this is the way Microsoft programmed this or am I doing something wrong??Thanks Shayne:-(

I must be doing somethng stupid and I haven't found out what it is. I created and new folder inside teh Simobjects foler called aircraft and then edited the FSX CFG and no matter what I try to do manually like I have for over 300 FS9 aircraft they just don't show up. I have installed a couple that were unzipped into FSX and then made for it. Here is an example of the POSKY CRJ CFG, I have tried everything can anyone offer some suggestions as I know I am doing something correctly and its probably so obvious. I maxed everthing out and got 12-16 also and it was still flyable, not great but not as bad as I expected. My old computer crshed so I had to biuld a new one and if I have to get Vista and a new video card in a year so be it, At least I am one of the fortunate ones that can afford it but I am also 38 and have been working for years.Shayne

I thinks it's the lower line one as it dosn't have DTS sound and I think there is another one that comes with some sound controller that plugs into the back. I ahve only had it for a day now and only have about one hour in FSX but so far it has been great. I have also flown FS9 for about 4 hours and I had a problem with PMG737 but it said it was a Nvidia Driver problem and it locked up the computer so I went to the EVGA website and got the latest drivers and it works great so far. I am more than happy with the quality and the speed and if it can work in the final version as good as this one I am going to be one ofthe happiest simmers around. Make sure you have a good power supply as everyone I talked to said that you can't have to much power.Thanks Shayne
