  1. I had the same problem which started a month or two ago. My fix was to make sure I'm in FULL window mode (Not windowed mode) ALT Enter will toggle between the two modes, . . . . before I hit the FLY button. Has been working for me, so it may well be a nvidia driver problem as mentioned previously. Maybe worth a try.
  2. Hi Everyone, Is there anyway of adjusting MSFS 2020s brightness and contrast independently. Can't see anything in the graphics settings. Many Thanks
  3. Hi, During my test I only let EF start auto with P3D, so I'll look into starting before P3D. What's the reasoning behind you having to start EF first?, Also if its possible could you start P3D as normal, allowing EF to load, and then, LOAD a SAVED flight from within P3D, and let me know if you have any problems. Just something I'm looking at. Regards
  4. Hi There, My findings so far, Using P3dv4.5+hotfix, Active sky and Rex ENVforce ONLY. The problem I have, appears to be related to Rex ENVforce. I can replicate the Black screen and crash, and can also apply the fix and get P3Dv4.5 running as normal. 1) Completely UN-installed Rex ENVforce. . . . . . . . . . . . (RESULT: after PC re-start, P3D runs quicker and operates normally). 2) RE-load Rex ENVforce. (default programme NO updates) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (RESULT: after PC re-start, P3D runs quicker and operates normally) 3) Install Rex ENVforce. (UP-DATE version 5.0.2019.0503) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (RESULT: after PC re-start, P3D runs and operates normally) 3) Install Rex ENVforce. (UP-DATE version 5.0.2019.0517) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (RESULT: after PC re-start, P3D runs slower and crashes with Black screen). 4) Have done the above, with Michaels advice regarding the de-bug button, but experienced the same results on my PC. Conclusion: After UN-Installing Rex ENVforce, My P3D operates great, with no problems. I have since RE-installed Rex ENVforce and Updated to version 5.0.2019.0503 ONLY (Not version 0517) and up to now P3D is working fine. No other SIm programmes were used during these tests APART from Active Sky which was used as the weather engine. Hope you can understand this and maybe help point you in a starting direction if experiencing similar problems. Regards John
  5. Hi There, Is it, or would it be possible for a Camera to Start at a specific point and then follow a specific path. (If the camera has to be physically attached to an object, then could the object be transparent). I'm thinking: 1) For the camera to be able to follow inside the gate walk-way, acting as the eyes of the crew/pilot, . . . . so they could give the illusion of walking down the walkway and entering the cockpit. 2) Give the illusion of walking around the aircraft, doing the crews checks. Only ideas to create a bit more realism into the sim, Thought as you guys know a thing or two about cameras, it may or may not be possible. Thanks for your time. John Specs: Intel i7700k, 32gb Ram, SSD, AORUS 1080ti Graphic card, running windows 10
  6. Hi there, Thanks for your time helping out. The story so far, UN-installed everything (and I mean everything) Checked all windows 10 is up to date, including the NEW update. 1) Installed P3dv4.5 (complete with hotfix) + installed FSUIPC and controllers + SPADnext. …………………………….. Checked P3D with various default aircraft, ALL works great. 2) Downloaded and Installed PMDG 777 + ALL updates: …………………………………………….. Checked P3D and PMDG 777, ALL works great. So to conclude, as stated above it is NOT a PMDG issue, or P3Dv4.5 issue. ……………… I will report back ONCE I re-install the many Addons I've accumulated, and Identify the problem Addon. Regards John
  7. Whoops!, Having checked, I have in fact been re-installing the Hot-fix (v 4.5.12.30293). So I'm back in a pickle. Having completely un-installing PMDG 777, P3dv4.5 works great, I can swap all the available aircraft within the sim, all at different airport and it works fine. But as soon as I install PMDG 777, and try to select it before launch, or indeed select it from within the sim having started P3D with a default aircraft. It just goes to black screen (with no Re-loading scenery window). Regards
  8. Hi There, Doe!!! I've been that obsessed with the PMDG problem, I completely forgot about the hotfix when I've been re-installing P3D. I'll let you know how I get on! Thanks for the reply John
  9. Hi Everyone, Having re-installed P3Dv4.5 three times now. Every time I select the PMDG 777, the aircraft selection pane, (the one where the aircraft revolves/spins) TURNS solid white, along with the OK button, to start the flight. These remain solid white in colour for quite some time (10 secs) but eventually P3D does start up with the Black screen as expected. BUT the black screen just hangs, and I haver to restart my PC, However when I restart my PC, P3Dv4.5 boots up and places me back at the selection window (Aircraft selection, airport, weather, time). If I select any default P3D aircraft P3D operates and loads as normal. Just for your information: I have also re-loaded latest PMDG 777, several times now with same result, and have also deleted P3D.cfg file several times with no improvement. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated, thanks for your time. John Specs: Intel i7700k, 32gb Ram, SSD, AORUS 1080ti Graphic card, running windows 10
  10. Hi There, If memory serves, try: C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 I think you only have to point/browse to the P3d folder and PFPX does the rest, (puts the files into PMDG, WX etc) give it a whirl and let me know if it works OK. regards

    P3d v4.1

Hi there, Thinking of buying 777, but just need to confirm if the T7 is compatible with P3D 4.1 (it states P3Dv3 and V4 on their web page). Many Thanks
  12. Thanks Gerard, I've just had a quick look at PTA on the forums and after reading a post regarding Ground shadows I'll probably leave them alone for now. many thanks
  13. Hello there, Does anybody know if its possible to change the density of the casting shadows within P3Dv4. Basically I'm trying to find the most realistic shadows for my system and would like to make them darker if possible. Many thanks for any advice or suggestions Cheers
  14. Hi James, Thanks for your suggestion. I tried to open the whole zip file which I downloaded: AIG_BritishAirways_Summer_2016.zip via AIFP3/files/open Flight Plan File (.txt or .zip) I receive the same "unhandled exception has occurred in your application ERROR MESSAGE. (STATING Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 2. position 1". Thanks for your advice though. John p.s. forgot to say I'm running W10 just in case that has any bearing on the problem, (but AIFP3 appears to open and work OK)
  15. G/day Ian, Have now joined AIG and downloaded a British Airways flight plan Summer 2016 and saved it to a folder, along with, Airports and Aircraft files: - Flightplans_AIG_BritishAirways_Su16.txt Airports_AIG_BritishAirways_Su16.txt Aircraft_AIG_BritishAirways_Su16.txt However when I open AI Flight Planner v3.2.09 and choose files/open Flight Plan File (.txt or .zip) ..................... I receive the following OPTION with YES / NO / CANCEL choices Day-encoding scheme of "Flightplans_AIG_BritishAirways_Su16.txt" is not specified. Is day-encoding 0=Sunday, 1=Monday,...6=Saturday? (i.e., for FS9) YES NO CANCEL Whether I select YES or NO, ....... I receive a unhandled exception has occurred in your application ERROR MESSAGE. (STATING Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 2. position 1. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong. In the mean time I'll search the internet for any related info. Many thanks John
  16. Hi Jim, Thanks for the reply, The post/link you highlighted is how I got started on this journey. I thought I'd buy the A380 and give it a go. Hi Ian, Have just joined the sites you recommended and I will download AIFP3 and see if I can follow your instructions. I'll report back my progress. You've both been a big help, thank you Kind Regards
  17. Hi there, Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum. Can anyone tell me how AI flight plans are used by P3D. (which folder do I place them in P3D) or If anybody can point me in the direction of a good tutorial for AI traffic. I'm struggling to find good information on how I can get AI traffic into my P3Dv4 world. Having purchased several FSP AI aircraft from Sim market. I've installed these along with several Liveries into P3Dv4, but I'm not quite sure how to get these aircraft working. I know I have to find a flight plan and install it, but I don't know what format it has to be in or which folder it goes in within P3Dv4. Any help or guidance will be very appreciated. (pity there's not a section here on the Avsim for AI traffic) As you can probably tell I'm a bit of a novice regarding AI traffic, have always used UT2 in the past with FSX. Thanks for your help
  18. Okay, I'll head over to Sim-Market Thanks for that.
  19. Hi guys, With you saying you have ALL the FSP models, could you please confirm if ALL the FSPXAI aircraft are P3Dv4 compatible. Looking at Sim-Market I can only see the A380 for P3Dv4 and the B787 is listed for FS 2004. Many Thanks
  20. Thanks Nico, I've only just purchased P3Dv4,....... so I'm still trying to find my way around. cheers
  21. Hi Nico, Guys Sorry for being stupid, but could you please explain what you mean by: Don’t forget to add the correct entries for your installed freeware and payware aircraft in P3D v4: C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects.cfg Here's my current P3Dv4 Simobjects.cfg [Entry.0] Title=Default Airplanes Path=SimObjects\Airplanes Required=True Active=True [Entry.1] Title=Default Avatars Path=SimObjects\Avatars Required=True Active=True [Entry.2] Title=Default Rotorcraft Path=SimObjects\Rotorcraft Required=True Active=True [Entry.3] Title=Default Ground Vehicles Path=SimObjects\GroundVehicles Required=True Active=True [Entry.4] Title=Default Boats Path=SimObjects\Boats Required=True Active=True [Entry.5] Title=Default Animals Path=SimObjects\Animals Required=True Active=True [Entry.6] Title=Default Misc Path=SimObjects\Misc Required=True Active=True [Entry.7] Title=Default Submersible Path=SimObjects\Submersible Required=True Active=True [Entry.8] Title=Default Weapons Path=SimObjects\Weapons Required=True Active=True [Entry.9] Title=Default Countermeasures Path=SimObjects\Countermeasures Required=True Active=True Many Thanks
  22. A big thanks guys for taking the time to respond. I think I'll go ahead and order the monitor I have in mind (ASUS Curved PG348Q). I was also thinking if Track IR would be effected in anyway, so thanks for clearing that up. regards John
  23. Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying a curved 34" wide monitor, solely for Flight sim in P3D and was wondering if there would be any issues/drawbacks relating to the 21:9 scaling when using PMDG ,A2A aircraft. Basically is there any issues with the clarity of gauges (due to the screen curvature) or any visual impairment in the cockpit. If anyone is already using a curved screen I'd be interested in your thoughts before I commit to buying. Thanks for your input. p.s. I think My specs should be OK running the monitor: W10 64bit, I7-7700K, 36MB titanium ram, Aorus 1080ti card, Maximus Formula IX M/B, Be quiet water cooled, AX1200i P/S, NVme 960pro's.
