  1. Thomas, I was afraid you might ask!!I had the need (a nice need) to configure my system with CH yoke, quad throttles, and pedals - all USB.I had FS configured to boot giving me PMDG 738-winglets, Qantas livery, sitting at YMML with all lights on and the fires lit. - Lazy? Yes - I like flying this kite and I do not have much time. Patriotic? Well, I can still knock out a verse of 'I Still Call Austalia Home'!! So, all this was prior to the new shiny CH hardware and all worked well before this, at least within my capabilities.Configured the CH hardware. All went well considering the horific stories on the forums. However, on booting into FS (remember my boot setup) I was presented with blue skies/cockpit ceilings and the like - not the cockpit view of the panel and runway etc. I simply could not fly the PMDG 738 (a bit hard without a panel!!) Within the same FS session, it was possible to adjust 'views' to see a panel and fly. So, many, many hours were spent pulling apart .cfg files trying to find out, why. At least my logic would have to say it was 'hardware'. It was only out of deparation that I went to basics and let FS boot into the default Cessna. Wow, all the views were fine. Move to PMDG 738-winglets (PMDG livery) - fine. Move to PMDG 738-winglets (Qantas livery) - blue skies in the cockpit! This also tended to corrupt FS within this session.I then loaded Air Berlin livery (for 738-winglets) and this was fine. I then elected to delete the PMDG Qantas livery (I nearly cried!!) and reset up my FS boot scenario.Thomas, when your post came along speaking of some liveries that needed work, my curiosity got the best of me and I needed to ask some questions as my above experience defies all logic - well at least mine. Before writing this, I thought that I should load the Qantas livery again to be sure, to be sure. Yep, blue skies and a corrupt FS.In Summary:All of my CH equipment works and I have more buttons and axis to play with than you could dream ofPMDG 738 continues to work fantastically in all modes auto and manual using the CH hardware (given that I do not have a Qantas livery)Despite this, I can still remember at least one verse of 'I Still Call Australia Home'. Sigh, I hope the 744 Qantas livery works!!Hey Thomas, ask a simple question and get a 'confused' reply. Thanks for your input, it is appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML) g

  2. Mats, Thanks for response. No I am not running Active Camera. During this drama, I have actually configured the 3 CH devices (using FSUIPC) and flown - other than PMDG 73NG - bit hard without a panel!! So all devices work, it is just when the pedals are introduced that you get this weid 'Cockpit View'. Got me tossed that hardware could manifest itself this way. I have not got anyone close to try the pedals on their system to prove that it is my setup that is causing this. Will sort with PC Aviator. So, in the meantime I have a yoke and quad throttles configured for reverse thrust through FSUIPC. Got the ailerons coupled up with the rudder and at least I can steer the PMDG 'Mother' on the ground.I will get a few hours flown over the weekend. Thanks for your attention.RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  3. Folks, Thank you all for your input.I believe that I have resolved the issue. I think I have a hardware problem with the CH USB pedals. It will be back to PC Aviator on Monday with the goods.I completly deleted all CH Manager software from my system. Backed up FS9 config and then deleted. Unplugged all the CH devices. Started FS9 which of course took all the defaults. While sitting at KSEA in a 182 in cockpit view, I trusted all the wonderous things about USB and plugged in the yoke and configured in FS assignments. Thought pedals should be next and as soon as I plugged in, cockpit view turned to 'look up/back' direction. Bingo, as they say in the classics. Unplugged pedals and rebooted FS9. Plugged in the quad throttles and did the FS assignment stuff. No problems. Tried the pedals in another USB port with the same result. Unless FSUIP is doing something strange with my pedals I think I have a hardware issue. I really believed that it could have been the CH Manager software, but I think not. I will give FSUIP a shot to fine tune the yoke and quad throttles especially (I have the latest payware version).Thank you all again for your assistance, it is appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  4. Folks, I have spent considerable time in configuring CH USB devices, Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant. Having read quite a lot on this prior, I guess I knew it was not going to be too easy. Well the configuration has turned out OK with just some fine tuning to do.However, and this is my real issue, somehow I have corrupted something in the start up during the process. When selecting an airplane and model and hit 'fly now', in 'cockpit' view, the panel is not displayed, only the inside of the cockpit roof or in the case of the 737NG, lovely blue sky. If you go to the views menu for 'cockpit' and look at 'view direction', I find the 'look back/up' view is locked in. When you attempt to change to 'look forward' and hit OK, momenterily, you see the forward view and panel and then it reverts to 'look back/up'. OK, this happens with all aircraft in the menu so it looks like a FS9/CH issue, however, with other aircraft, the change in 'view option' does take and you can use the aircraft. (This is how I know my CH equipment is basically working OK.) With the PMDG 73, I can never get a panel. It always goes back to the 'look back/up view. So I am devoid of flying the best add-on available!! Incidentally, when you change the views with other aircraft and get a panel and forward view, when you exit FS9 and then come back in, this situation is not saved and you are back with 'look back/up'.I could have directed this to at least two other forums but there is at least something unique with the PMDG NG 73 and the co-operation and help I see with this forum is also commendable and I was hoping I could call on some assistance here. I have spent some 10 hours trying to sort this and am becoming quite tired.I am running FS9 (ver 9.1). Everything was fine before I started configuring the CH USB devices. (I was using gamesport CH joystick and pedals prior) I am not running Active Sky or the like. Apologies for the long post and any assistance would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  5. Guys, This is an interesting thread and the Stoenworks site is very helpful. However, I am still a little lost with the "RNAVNP04L" = RNAV (GPS) Rwy 04L /with RNP (Required Navigation Performance)...that is: an approved vertical guidance perfomed by GPS and your FMC to creat a "virtual" glideslope down to approximately cat.I minima. Can I actually program this type of approach into FS2004 either using FMC or GPS? There is at least one airport in Australia (YHOT) that only has this type of approach listed in the official Departure and Approach Procedures. Without 'Lat, Lons' of the crucial points given (IAF,FAF's etc) I cannot work out how I can enter 'User defined waypoints' and the like.Any help would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  6. Hello Ulf, Thanks for your input. Think I will go direct to CH and ask the question about compatability.Purchase the quad and replace the analogue pedals and joystick (I would have to go the yoke) with USB devices - BIG Australian dollars!!RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  7. Ulf, Thanks for links etc and Bob Church's stuff is great.I am thinking of purchasing the quadrant but have two questions that you folks maybe able to answer:-1. I have CH analogue pedals and joystick. Can I use the USB quadrant with these. Am aware that you cannot mix analogue and USB joystick and pedal devices.2. Can the quadrant be used for 4 engined (jet) models? Of course thinking of the 744 PMDG here.Any help would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  8. Folks, I have a ViewSonic P810 (that is a CRT), now that is old gear. Picked up from a CadCam mob upgrading their stuff. OZ$500 LCD's were in the womb at the time. Thought I was mad paying that, but I have never looked back. The Wife did not understand but she had to help me position it as it is a 'two person lift'. Absolutely fantastic performance. i.e. from the CRT!!Now it has come to pass that the Wife wants to re arrange the 'cockpit'. (The Wife needs to share the 'cockpit' with a second PC for her work) The Wife says that if you get one of those 'flat screens' it will not take up so much desk space. True indeed, but I am looking for performance (from the CRT - well at least in this context!!). The Wife cannot understand that an odd map, approach chart and the like spread about is in the norm however, if the Wife uses my CH peddels for a foot rest again there could be a enquiry into the inappropriate use of equipment.Looking at the specs. on the latest LCD's, say 19" to be fairly close to viewing area of a 21" CRT, they look good if you are prepared to spend the money at the high end of this spectrum to be somewhere near to the equivalent performace of the CRT.Hard call just now as I am sure in 6 months or so the technology will be there and of course cheaper. But hey, is that not always? For me (and the Wife), maybe it is a compromise of re-arranging the desks and bringing in help to shift the screen. I love my P810 ViewSonic!!RegardsJock McIntyre (YMML)

  9. Keith B or anyone, I cannot get the 1900 to track the course. I have the blue GPS light on the EFIS, the AP on and NAV on. The CRS is auto set correctly and the Gamin 500 looks fine. In FS9, the Navigation Device in the options menu reads 'Flight Simulator 2004 GPS, and is ticked.Keith, I don't know what you did but I can't get it to work.Any help would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  10. Oliver, Thanks for your comments. However, this is my issue. The PMDG Catagory/folder is empty. Somehow the file was not loaded at install. One question :- what model 737 appears at KBFI when you load?RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  11. George, thank you. Was aware of this but PMDG talk about not doing this in the manual due to some possible differences and suggest using the supposedly supplied scenario.Hey, if you have got this work, I will give it a shot.Thank againRegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  12. Folks, Feeling a little silly here but I am sure someone will set me straight.I have been flying the 737 for some time now. I have not ventured into the button pushing etc to start from cold. Thought I had better do this for further depth.I actually 'RTFM' and at 0-26 (rev 1.4)it talks about the PMDG Cold and Dark scenario to get started from scratch. I have searched my hard drive and cannot find this file. I am completely up to date with revisions and own 600 - 900 series. Running on FS9I would like to start off with the 2D cockpit 800 series.Any assistance would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  13. >Congratulations to you and your new bride Captain. Just>celebrated my 31st yesterday. Hope ya'll have many, many happy>years together.Hey George, Thought you were an 'oldie' on this forum and I could relate. (You have asked all of my questions on this fine forum) Now I find you are but 31 years old. Cheez. Just Jocking!!!Logged 39 last May - Capt'n Rob got some catching up to do.RegardsJock McIntyreMelbourne, Australia (YMML)

  14. Sorry to shove in on this Shane and it is not related to the white thingos, so apologies. But, the wife wanted to know who is the F/O. (Better than asking questions about wedding arrangements for the Son, while on finals, I thought!!)Clearly, identified that the Captain is good ol'e Mick (as in Mouse), so got that sorted!!Hey, the wife is showing some interest, lets keep it going.RegardsJOck McIntyreYMML

  15. Per & Terry, Well you have both come up with the same reason while I have been sleeping and working (more of the later, unfortunately). When I look at the YSSY airport chart and the positioning of the SY VOR in relation to 34R, it is very conceivable that the kite could be above 500 before passing the VOR. That has fixed the logic around it all for me.So, I now have 3 'fixes' including my own. I often ride this SID (as a passenger) and I will work out what appears more realistic.Thank you both for your response. It is most appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  16. Hello Folks, I am experiencing trouble with a SID. I am getting 'DISCO INSRTD AFTER (500)' I have checked this using Terry Yingling's guide for this type of error, but still can't get it sorted. Here is the SID:SID MARUB3 RNW 34R KEEP HDG UNTIL 500 HDG 120 INTERCEPT RADIAL 075 FROM NAVAID SY FIX MARUBHeading for Rnw 34R is 335.I have got around this by creating and inserting a FIX after 500 which is placed within the arc of a turn to 120 degrees to ensure that you intercept the 075 radial. However, I cannot logically understand why the original code will not work. It almost seems like you need to force the plane through 360 degrees to make it work.I guess I am missing something real simple here. Any assistance would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  17. Folks, I fly the PMDG 737 almost exclusively using the CH Flightstick Pro and CH Pro pedals. Yes, old stuff but they work well.Would some of you more experienced simmers using similar equipment be able to give me some ideas on what button assignments work well for you flying the 737. I feel that I could be getting some more benefit out of the old CH Flightstick with better assignments.Currently I have it set up as:Hatswitch - outside pan view'Trigger' - brakeButton left - flaps downButton centre - flaps upButton right - well nothing yet!!Throttle wheel - I use only on taxi as it appears more accurate than keypresses.Yep, not too creative. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This may help to pass the time while waiting for the 800/900!RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

  18. Hey Scott, Bought my 1900D on Visa. Went straight off and got my sideline 'Croc Air' going. (no livery yet, just painted out Impulse) Loaded her with 19 PAX and off to Gove (YPGV) out of Darwin (YPDN). Put her down like a charm and the PAX were happy. Off they got and while me 'china' and I were cleaning the 1900 up, out comes a croc and bites 18inches off of one of the starboard propeller blades. 'Crikey', I sez, 'call the PAX back'. You have never seen a 1900 loaded like this. And no toilet (note Robert Randazzo). Not too much of a start checklist here (well that's what PMDG Express is about) and the fans were turning in no time. Off we went. A bit of a vibration on the right side, but the PAX were happy. Commuter Airlines - all fun.I am thinking of a new venture. Need a 737 900, how long do you think I will need to wait??Ohh, my company has not gone bust, well yet, due to the use of Visa. Keep you posted.RegardsJockYMML
