  1. Hi, I've just upgraded to FSX from FS9 and am getting texture tearing in windowed mode only. I have vertical sync activated in my Nvidea settings and in full screen mode there is no tearing. Any ideas ? Cheers, Mark. System. Win7 64 bit i7-3820 3.6 ghz CPU GTX470 gpu 16 gig RAM
  2. Thanks for the replies,The drivers are the latest available, and the power supply exceeds the cards specs. As I said FS9 runs beautifully. I take your point about a bad driver install though, I'll sweep it clean and try again.Cheers, Mark.
  3. Hi,I've just reinstalled FSX after upgrading my graphics card from an 8800 gts to a GTX470 1280mb. When I start FSX all is well, the User interface displays normally but as soon as I try to load a flight I get a blue screen and a system restart.The info reported after the restart is as follows...BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : BD09A966 BCP3 : B31EB908BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1C:\DOCUME~1\Mark\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER0380.dir00\Mini071010-06.dmpC:\DOCUME~1\Mark\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER0380.dir00\sysdata.xmlFSX is installed with SP2 and no addons.FS9 by the way works perfectly.Can anyone help?SYSTEM SPECSGigabyte S series motherboardAMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.61 ghz2 gb DDR2 RAMNVIDIA GTX470 1280 mbWindows XP ProfessionalSoundblaster Live

  5. Hope you're right. I was getting excellent performance with my old 8800GTS on the same system. The only reason I replaced it was because it died suddenly. I figured I would get the best card I could afford and the GTX470 seemed to offer the best bang for buck.
  6. Hi,I take your point, but what I don't get is why I'm getting good frame rates generally. and why does pressing the alt key clear the problem temporarily. Also, I can fly around an addon scenery area like "Tongass Fjords" or "Misty Fjords" with very detailed terrain and airport scenery, for hours, and have no problems at all.
  7. Can you elaborate?
  8. Hi,I've just installed an NVIDEA GTX470 1280mb card. I'm getting great results with this generally in fs9. Averaging 25-35 fps (locked at 40 fps) with heavy addon scenery and all the sliders on maximum. However when I am over built up areas after two or three minutes the frame rate drops sharply to single figures. Pressing the alt key (to display the menu bar at the top of the screen) clears this, and I am back up to 30 fps again for another few minutes. Can anyone tell me what's going on here?ThanksGigabyte S series motherboardAMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.61 ghz2 gb DDR2 RAMNVIDIA GTX470 1280 mb Windows XP ProfessionalSoundblaster Live
  9. Hi all,I have started getting this message when I start FS9..."Your computer has run out of available memory. Flight simulator will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard drive. Run disc cleanup to free up space and then try running again."The drive in question has 89% free space. Then I get this dialogue..."Application errorThe instruction at 0x7c14f0e7 referenced memory at 0x0000001c.The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate program."Nothing new has been installed or changed on the PC.Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?Cheers, Mark.
  10. I am still using FS9 almost exclusively although I have FSX installed as well. For me it comes down to a couple of addons. Until somebody comes up with an equivalent to FS Navigator for FSX I wont be leaving FS9. I am a dedicated bush pilot, and I can't live without Holger Sandman's superb Misty/Tongass Fjords scenery, not yet available for FSX.Also as a user of TrackIR there are some issues with this in FSX.Most importantly, while FSX runs adequately on my current hardware FS9 runs brilliantly, all settings maxed!
  11. Hi Alistair and all,Just a quick bit of background, This problem is with my fathers set up, not mine. He is 82 and got the simming bug from me a couple of years ago. The idea of consulting a forum was a bit daunting for him however so I said I would do it for him.His system is ...Pentium 4/3.2 GHZ processor 1 GB. GEIZ DDR RAM120 GB SATA hard disk256 mb. ATI PCI graphics cardWindows XP Pro The problem first started when he started fs9 a couple of days ago and it started rebuilding the scenery cfg. I think this was the usual daylight saving rebuild as it had started that day.The next time he tried to open it, the splash screen appeared but then a window came up with the following error message;ERRORYour computer has run out of available memory. Flight Simulator will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard drive. Run disk cleanup to free up space and then try running flight simulator againOK buttonHe did this and then got a second message; The instruction at 0x7c14f0e7 referenced memory at 0x0000001c.The memory could not be "read". click OK to terminate program. The hard disk is segmented into three sections;C drive 55.8 gb. free 28.5 gb.D drive 45.3 " 42.7 "E drive 10.4 " 10.0 "The flight simulator is on D driveThe Task Manager screen shows the following;Performance physical memory;Total 1047788Available 592752System cache 674964We would greatly appreciate any ideas you might have.Cheers, Mark (and his dad)
  12. Hi all.I keep getting this error message every time I start fs9.Application error Fs9.exeThe instruction at 0x7c14f0e7 referenced memory at 0x000000e7The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate program.Does anyone know what this means? Thanks, Mark,
  13. Hi all,I have a problem with the new Alphasim Tornado for fs9.Whenever I load this plane I get blurry scenery textures. This effects ground textures and autogen. The textures on the plane itself remain fine.I've found that reloading the textures works for a second and then they revert to blurry again. This happens both in VC and external views. This only happens with this plane. Can anyone help?SYSTEM SPECSGigabyte S series motherboardAMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.61 ghz2 gb DDR2 RAMNVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 320 mb Windows XP ProfessionalSoundblaster Live
  14. Hi Kim,Thanks for the tip. Updated the driver and problem solved.Cheers, Mark.
  15. Hi All,I have a problem when changing views in FSX. When I switch views, particularly from an external view to the VC, the sim freezes for about 30 or 40 seconds before the textures load. This usually happens, but not always. It effects all aircraft and locations.Other than this I get good frame rates in most situations.I have installed SP1 but not SP2.Can anyone help?My system specs are...Gigabyte S series motherboardAMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.61 ghz2 gb DDR2 RAMNVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 320 mb Windows XP ProfessionalSoundblaster LiveFS9 also runs on this system beautifully, all settings maxed and no problems at all.Cheers, Mark.
