  1. I do have the reg version of it. But it doesn't work with DWC on, right? If I switch DWC off I get windshifts going through full 360 degrees in a couple of seconds. Using FSUIPC I can slow this down do a degree a second but it is still very annoying if you go from a 60kts headwind to a 60kts tailwind in 3min.What is the recommended setting for the moment flying PDMG planes?DWC on/off?Disable Winds Aloft on/off?what about all the sliders for Wind?FSUIPC reg. what settings? It's all a bit confusing...thanksSteve
  2. I installed the beta 355 and wind sways and s-turns are as bad as ever with the PMDG 747. It's up to a point I can't fly it anymore on autopilot. It's not only S-turns with bank angles over 45 degrees when autopilot is on (I get 'bank angle' warnings), the wind sways can cause the airplane to stall at cruising altitude or take-off/I hope this gets better soon. Not much fun right now. I'm flying on VATSIM and it's embarrassing! :)Sometimes I can see the wind changing direction on the 747 nav display 360 degrees within seconds. It's a spinning arrow! When the aircraft is totally out of control it helps to enable or disable DWC. Just going to the opposite setting. What are the recommended settings with winds at the moment for the PDMG 747?
  3. What settings do I need in FSUIPC to get rid of this problem?I suffer from this with the 747-400 ASA and FSX.
  4. >>Yes. But I need it for my work. FS9 doesn't take advantage>of>>it anyway.>>You may want to investigate this further. You may want to>disable some CPUs (through BIOS) and see what happens. There>was a very similar problem with Flight1's Piper Meridian>product (may care to to go to their forum or search throuygh>Avsim) - after they disabled the other processor or disabled>something else related to threading they regained the>performance. Sorry that I can't be more specific.>>Michael J.>http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gif>http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpgThat still does not explain why I can fly the PMDG 737 perfectly fine! This doesn't make sense...
  5. >Steve,>>Do I read those specs correctly, you're running twin dual core>CPUs!? (4 CPUs total)Yes. But I need it for my work. FS9 doesn't take advantage of it anyway.
  6. >There is a mysterious FS parameter called PanelAsTexture. It>sometimes has dramatic impact on performance in 2D cockpit.>Please search for explanation of this parameter and where to>set it (or reset it) on the main MSFS forum and its knowledge>base/technical forum (here on Avsim). Some people had to set>it others had to reset it to see dramatic changes.>>Michael J.>http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gif>http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpgI tried it. Didn't do anything. And it still doesn't explain why 737 has a full frame rate without this parameter.PMDG should be able to answer what's different between the 737 2D cockpit ant the 747 one.
  7. Yes I looked at all these threads. It doesn't apply. I don't have any other windows behind the 2D cockpit. When I press Shift-1 there are no panels left and only the scenery can be seen. (Filling the upper half of the screen). The moment I press Shift-1 and the cockpit panels disappear I get the full frame rate.As I said before, the three CRT/LCD displays for ND, PFD, etc. seem to eat up the frame rate. It's possible to switch the Upper right (from the captain seat) to blank mode, so it doesn't display anything (usually the Engines and warnings plus flaps) and I see a slight improvement of the frame rate.If I click on the displays so they get big I have less than 3 fps.My questions is:Why is everything perfect with the 737 and not the 747?The 747 is supposed to be an improvement over the 737. Now I hope PMDG will never 'improve' the 737!I'm really out of ideas...
  8. I have a 30fps rate in external view but as soon as I switch the 2D panels on it falls down to less than a third. Approx 6-8 fps. This is not fun and makes the 747 unflyable for me.It has to do with the CRT/Flat panels screens. PFD/ND/U/L.When I switch the upper CRT in the middle position off I notice a slight improvement in the frame rate.Do change the 2D display update rate in the PMDG menu>General has no impact. As soon as I press Shift-1 to hide the 2D-panel I get the full frame rate. Now here comes the most interesting thing:With the PMDG 737-800/900 I don't suffer from this. I have an amazing 25-30 fps with the 2D panel.Considering that 747 is the newer and supposed to be more advanced product this doesn't make sense to me!My display settings are:Render to texture ONTransform and lighting OnAA OffFiltering BilinearMIP quality 4Hardware-rendered lights 8Texture size: MassiveI use an ATI X1900XTX graphics card with a 30" Apple monitor 2560x1600 resolution. On a side note: I wish PMDG would update their bitmaps for the 2D panels to cater for more modern and higher resolution displays. I can count the pixels on my big 30" monitor on the 2D panels. The settings on the ATI are:driver Catalyst 6.4AA 6X (temporal AA Off)Anisotropic Filtering 16x (HighQuality AF ON)Disable Catalyst AI (ON=disabled)Mitmap Detail Level QualityWait for vertical refresh: Off, unless application specifiesAdaptive AA OFFAs I said frame rates with the 737 in 2D are amazing, why not with the 747?thanks,SteveFS9.1 | 2x Dual Core Opteron 270 | SuperMicro H8DCE | 4GB ECC REG DDR400 RAM | 8x SATA-II drives | ATI X1900 XTX PCIe | Apple 30" | Magma 7-slot chassis | WinXP Pro
  9. Thanks everybody again. On a final note: I used my Kensington for a long time with every kind of software and no problems.I still use it but with no Kensignton software. That way it behaves just like an ordinary mouse. (It's actually a Trackball)And I found out that's it's FS9 itself that seems to have a problem with MousWorks 6, not just FSUIPC or PMDG.Because I complained that all the dialog windows in FS9 were very sluggish. When I choose a new location (airport) and pressed 'ok' it took FS9 almost a minute(!) to come back. I still could fly all the default FS9 planes ok.Anyway..... glad it all works. Now I can go and install the rest of my scenery, etc...cheers,Steve
  10. I FOUND IT!!!!Haha!!I just flew my first quick round in a PMDG with 25fps! Man did that feel good!As a last resort I removed pretty everything what was left from that little software I had installed and guess what?It was that bloody driver for the mouse. Kensington MouseWorks 6.11.I don't know what it's clashing with but both FSnavigator and PMDG work fine now. Could it be FSUIPC?Steve

  12. >There are many parameters in the BIOS. Things like for>example your AGP setting. Therefore as I mentioned above you>ought to go through the documentation prepared by Sonar5 (read>my post above) that goes through many, many hardware settings>one by one. This list of yours just shows what you installed,>tells nothing about your system settings.>>Michael J.>WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB>Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2I don't don't have AGP settings since I use PCI express.what system settings would you like to know? Everything is standard except the ones I mentioned. (with standard I mean as WinXP pre-configures it)
  13. I had HT on before, but my system performs slightly better with HT off. The same goes for Background services. Of course I tried it with set to Programs. It doesn't make any difference in my case.AI overclocking: 'standard' means 'no overclocking', it means the machine runs in standard mode.StevePS: I made a quick test with settings to Backround Servies vs Programs and can tell you that my frame rate is 20% better with Backround Services. Check it out yourself. It's an old trick from working in the recording studio. All the realtime critical recording software performs better and click free that way.
  14. Thanks to anyone helping. I really appreciate it!OK. I got all my facts and figures ready.Yesterday I installed WinXP clean on a different drive. I had to get down what's causing that.I tell you step by step what I did.0. Install Bios v10101. Install WinXP SP22. Install driver for HD controllers from ASUS CD3. Install Ethernet card drivers (for internet)4. Windows Update5. Install Chipset drivers 6.3.0.10076. Switch Hyperthreading off within BIOS7. Install Nvidia drivers 7.1.8.4 for GeForce 68008. Install Spybot & ad-Aware to clean out any nasty things.9. Install Kensignton software for trackball10. Install Logitech game software for Joystick11. Install Google, Flash, Java2 for IE12. Install FS9.1 from CD's (9.1 built 40901.01)13. start FS9 and set Display settings as in attached screenshotLoad standard 737 and get a 25fps perfomance which is ok for a standard 6600 GeForce.14. Quit FS9 and install PMDG 737 NG, restart, and install PMDG 800/900, restart.15. start FS9 and loaf standard 737 NG. 25fps. Then load PMDG aircraft 2d cockpit and frame rate plummets to 1-3fps.16. I'm gutted!17. Install new version of FSUIPC 3.47, launch FS9. Same frame rate. Here are my PC details again:ASUS P5AD2 Premium Motherboard1GB Corsair XMS2-5400 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit2GB OCZ DDR2 PC-5400 Performance Series Dual ChannelP4 Prescott LGA775 3.6 GHz 800FSB HTnVidia GForce 6600 PCI-Express cardCoolermaster Blue WaveMaster CaseTagan 480W ATX Power Supply Metal Braided Floppy, IDE and SATA cablesWIFI: offHyperThreading OffAI overclocking: standardDirect X version 9.0cNividia 7.1.8.4WinXP SP2 all Windows updates installed1GB fixed page fileProcessor scheduling set to Background servicessystem restore offindexing service off for all HD'sFS9.1 built 40901.01FSUIPC 3.47Display settings:AA 4xAnisot.Filt. 16xImage: qualityVertical sync: app controlledFS9 settings:Traffic: noneWeather: clear skies, rate of change: noneI have event logs available for applications and system and can email them if you want to see them.Enclosed some screenshots:http://uk.geocities.com/[email protected]/thanks again for your help!Steve
  15. >Hi Steve,>>You may be right about the FSUIPC.dll, if you installed the>PDMG it may have installed an older version of the dll for>FS9, this might cause problems with FS9.1, There is as far as>I know a new version on FSUIPC made to work with FS9.1, please>check and download the latest version from this site>>http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html,>>I hope this helps,>Best Regards,>Robert MeierThanks for you help but I wrote in my original email that I installed both.>I installed the latest version of FSUIPC and the default one that comes with the PMDG installers.
  16. I already did. Paul suggested to delete the FS9.cfg. But I already did as I said in the original post.I really have no more ideas. Seems like goodbye PMDG for me. It's a shame because it was the only reason I bought FS9....
  17. I highly suspect FSUIPC. I have no problems with planes that don't use it.Since I also have problems once I launch FSnavigator it points to FSUIPC. It's the only thing both have in common. It really would be helpful if one of you guys could tell if he's using the new MS FS9 installer CD's that already include the update together with FSUIPC / PMDG sucessfully.thanks,Steve
  18. >Please go to the main MSFS forum here on Avsim and search for>"panel_as_texture". You will get more information.>>Michael J.>WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB>Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2ok I found it and it didn't help.Why do you write it "panel_as_texture"? I thought it's 'PanelAsTexture=0'
  19. OkI downloaded the latest chipset drivers and Bios. It didn't change a thing. When I fly the MS default 737 everything is fine. But when I switch to PMDG, the moment the 2d or 3d cockpit loads, the computer locks up. It's almost like sucking all the processing power out. The low frame rate is just a by-product of no processing power left.Could it be a memory leak or something?Bear in mind I have 3GB which can cause problems. But I removed 1GB to reduce to 2GB and had the same problem.Has anybody of you guys Flight Sim FS9 CD's that is already 9.1?Because my installer CD's that I bought this week are already 9.1. Maybe something is different here compared to having 9.0 and upgrading? It's the only explanation I have left.....
  20. The stuttering occurs when I launch FSNavigator [F9]. I just installed it. Once I press F9 there is constant stuttering which I can't get rid off.But don't get confused. The stuttering is not the low frame rate I get when launching PDMG planes.Seems the whole machine I'm working on is cursed! :-oI never had this much trouble before. I'm a simmer for many years on many machines. I know a lot of tricks but this time I'm stunned.I noticed something else which doesn't seem normal. When I go to 'create flight' and choose an airport, once I make a selection and press ok I have to wait 1 min(!) until it becomes responsive again and I get the menu with all the selection for place, time, weather etc. This is not normal isn't it?I have this right away after I install a virgin copy of FS9.Maybe this is a sign I should not spend so much time doing useles things like flying virtual airplanes?haha
  21. >Did you try Panel_As_Texture set to 1 or 0?>Where do I find this parameter? I looked in FS9.cfg but it wasn't there. Do I have to add it? If yes, where?thanks,Steve
  22. HiNo Flight plan loaded. I did not even bother to open the FMC at that frame rate. It's almost like frozen. There was never FS9 installed on this machine.I use this computer also for my recording studio and it's working flawless with my recording software. It's really fast with no drop outs.Everything is in top shape. Latest chipset software, latest BIOS, I always scan with Adware, Spybot and Norton 2005 Antivirus.I de-installed Norton yesterday to see if it has any impact. It hasn't.I noticed that FS9 also behaves very strange. Maybe it's not as noticable. But today I noticed stuttering in approx 1sec rhythm. I've never seen this before. All the dials in the standard 737 start to stutter and the external view when I pan around stutters too.Re-installing Windows is out of the question.I would lose all my authorizations for the recording software.I had the same setup on my old machine for years and never any problems.
  23. HiI did a clean install of Flight Sim 2004 (9.1) on my new PC.The only thing installed besides MS FLightSim is PMDG 737 800/900.When I launch FlightSim with a default MS 737 I have about 25 fps (tried Seattle, Gatwick, Heathrow)The I load PMDG 737 (doesn't matter wich one, I tried 2d only, and all the others). The moment the 2d cockpit loads the frame rate goes down to 0-4 fpm and the computer becomes very sluggish. IE when I press a button/switch there is a short delay.I was using a Nvidia 6800GTO and switched to my older 6600 with no difference.I'm using 71.84 video drivers. I cleaned them out and went back to 66.93. No difference.I have 3GB RAM so I removed 1GB down to 2GB. Nothing.HT on and off. No difference.I installed the latest version of FSUIPC and the default one that comes with the PMDG installers. The PMDG installers are recent ones because I bought PMDG yesterday and all the updated are included.I removed everything (PMDG remove software), de-installed Flight Sim and reinstalled everything. (cleaned out FS9 in the application data folder before re-install) No change.I installed only PMDG Next Generation and no 800/900. Same problem.I think the Flight Sim install CD's are already 9.1 so I can't try 9.0.I'm really at the end of the line. Don't know what else to do.When I go to external view with a default MS plane and then load a PMDG 737 the frame rate seems fine until I switch to 2D cockpit view.I tried all different combinations of setting in the display settings. Render to texture on and off, antialiasing on/off, etc.Help!!thanks!SteveASUS P5AD2 Premium Motherboard1GB Corsair XMS2-5400 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit2GB OCZ DDR2 PC-5400 Performance Series Dual ChannelP4 Prescott LGA775 3.6 GHz 800FSB HT(nVidia 6800GTo 256MB DDR3 PCI-Express Graphics card)* not in usenVidia GForce 6600 PCI-Express cardWin XP SP2 all updates installed
