  1. As a work-around, that did fix the annoyance factor :)Thanx.>Use say the beech... pop into sim>the with the beech.. save the flight by typing semicolon ";">and save it as default.>>Restart the sim and then the beech should be the default>plane... load up the cessna and the problem "should" go away.>>Let me know how it goes.>>Hi from CYOW>>George "Alky
  2. Actually this is the default Cessna that loads when you start FS9. The only difference is the downloaded/installed custom panel. I didn't load the plane, it just comes up by itself in FS9. In order to make the panel look normal, I have to "re-load" it from the menu, then it looks like the second pic.>I think you have run into a bug in FS in where if you load a>plane from the menu while in flight it does not fully reset>the parameters.George "Alky
  3. I've been running into a problem with some panels that I've downloaded in that they appear "squashed". If I go to the menu and re-select the aircraft then they are in normal proportions. Is there a fix for this?I have FS Panel Studio but re-saving the panel has no effect :(Here's a couple of screen shots of what I mean.Any help on this is appreciated, it's too annoying to have to reload the plane to get the panel to look right. Thanks.http://members.shaw.ca/alky/squashed.jpghttp://members.shaw.ca/alky/squashed2.jpgGeorge "Alky
  4. >Dear fellow DC-3 skippers,>>I have just uploaded my DC-3 tutorial.I've just downloaded the tutorial/manual, and it is fantastic, excellent work Sebastian!!I ordered my MAAM DC-3 about a week ago and am expecting it any day now, this makes me even more anxious.Your choice of a flight plan is perfect since it's in my back yard in real life (CYXX).Thanx for your work on this, it's much appreciated :)George "Alky
  5. You guys are getting pretty deep for this wannabe tinkerer :)I'm attempting to modify the performance of a particular turbine engine aircraft whose fuel flow at cruise needs to be 120 g/ph and cruise speed at 248 kias. I've played with the fuel scaler and can get it to fly at around 120 g/ph with some extra throttle available, but my cruise speed is down around 180. In reading Ron's config info I'm gathering that the parasite drag comes into play here also... is that correct? I see these two entries in the aircraft.cfg.[flight_tuning]parasite_drag_scalar =0.504induced_drag_scalar =0.504Are thes the ones I need to adjust to pump up the cruise speed, or is there somewhere else in the .air file?I've been trying to follow the posts here and do this on my own but not having a whole lot of success. In most any of these aircraft I've come across, it seems that if you can get the thing to fly level and have the right cruise speed and fuel flow, then for a casual virtual flyer like me, that pretty much covers any tweaking that would need to be done. Thanx for any help :)- George -http://members.shaw.ca/alky/FSEbanner.jpg
  6. > Also, get my info at Herve' Sor's site on Aircraft.cfg, etc.> It tells what the different lines really do.>> Ron>Thanx Ron, I already grabbed that before you mentioned it :)Well, after reading your detailed instructions Douglas, I now have a beautifully flying DHC-2 Beaver. I used the Steven Grant version but had tried a couple others and they all seemed to go nose down and head for the dirt. I don't know why... my computer / joystick?? dunno. I modified the .air file and now it just floats along with almost no trim required. The other plane I had trouble with was the default FS9 C-182, I haven't tackled that one yet, but I'm sure the results will be excellent. I've not heard of anyone else complaing about these two aircraft for FS9 so I'm thinking it's something on my end hardware-wise.What this little excersise has done is made me more curious and wanting to learn more about the editing of the FD... thanx a lot guys!!I really appreciate everyone's help and wish you all the best in the upcoming festive season :)
  7. >>>>> Is there anywhere one can find info on what some of>these things do when changed and how to change them?<<<<>>George,>>See the link below for a website where this information, and>utilities for editing are available.>>Douglas>Thanx Douglas and Shad. I won't have time to look into this till Sunday, but those are excellent links and suggestions :)I really appreciate the response, thank you. I'll pop back into this thread and let you know how it went :)
  8. I'm not a modeler but I'd like to be able to adjust the flight characteristics in the aircraft.cfg. Some of the stuff in there is pretty cryptic. Is there anywhere one can find info on what some of these things do when changed and how to change them?I have a couple of planes that I'd like to adjust the flight attitude on. They both will go nose down as soon as you turn autopilot off and have trim at zero. In order to fly level you need to set trim to maximum up, I'm not a pilot but I don't think that's right. I've tried loading up the tail with baggage but that has no effect.I've searched most of the places I know looking for info on editing the flight dynamics in FS9 but am coming blank :(Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!
  9. >The background appears black with "prototypes" of Boeing>fuses, wings, and tails of a smashed mesh of green, red, and>blue (see attached). What is the problem???>You need a small program called DXTBmp, I'm sure you'll find it here on Avsim. You need to open those files with it and resave them to a 24 bit BMP or TGA that you can then use in PSP :)
  10. >Hi,>>May be this one?>>volpar_amphib.zip >JanThanx Jan, no that's not quite it. I have that one and it's quite a bit different than the normal Beech 18. I appreciate your reply :)
  11. I've searched in every corner of the Internet for a Beech 18 on floats and have had no luck? The simTECH Beech 18 is an awesome plane and I've thought about trying to learn GMax in order to put floats on it but that looks like a job that's well out of my league, at least for a while yet. There's a real life Beech 18 with floats that I've watched take off on several occasions and it's a beautiful sight (and sound). If anyone knows of an FS9 Beech 18 on floats that I could locate, I'd sure appreciate it, or if someone thinks modeling or grafting floats onto the existing SimTECH version is possible, that would be fantastic!!Thanx :)
