  1. One line of text and 27 lines of system specs, wow! :(
  2. I have Radar Contact and was quite dissapointed with it and after a short trial, deleted it from my hard drive. I found it awkward to use, poor color choice for the text and the ATC voices very robotic. I`m not a RW pilot and for me to go online and begin talking to people like I`m an airline captain is unimaginable. I use the default ATC in FSX, they sound more like real people. As long as your FSX flight plan is identical to the flight plan loaded in your FMC, the default ATC works just fine except for a bit too much frequency switching. :)
  3. You're wasting a lot of ram there, you computer is limited to 3.25 gigs of ram to run Windows, any services as well as your flight sim which is very hungry for memory. You need to find a way to upgrade to 64 bit so that you can have all 16 gigs available. I know on my own system, if I reformat and re-install Windoze, I have a choice of 32 bit or 64 bit. Maybe your system does too (?)
  4. I find it kind of important to have the FSX flight plan and the PMDG flight plan both loaded at the start, that way if you're using default ATC, they will be on the same page as you. I don't fly online so I suppose in that case it wouldn't matter. :)
  5. You must have missed the point of "full name in signature " just like the OP
  6. Try this... get vroute, the free version. You can create a flight plan and export it to FSX. Then go to Flightsim.com and do a file search for pmdgfpconv.zip It's a flight plan converter to convert FSX .pln files to PMDG .rte files. It works, I've tried it. :)
  7. He managed to evade that pretty well and still get a PMDG response
  8. Ahhh... you finally came over to the dark side!!!
  9. FSCommander has all the tools and bells & whistles you could ever need in flight planning. As mentioned already it exports to a variety of plan formats. I like to export to FSX as well as what I'm flying, PMDG, LVLD etc., that way if you use default ATC, they're on the same page while doing your flight.I liked FSNav when I was using FS9, but you have to admit, it's kinda hokey when it will fly your flight plan right to the deck if you let it. Who ever heard of a C-182 doing autoland!
  10. Set your PM's to email notification Dan I'm using Vista 64 and memory might well be the issue with that size of image.
  11. Hi Vaughan, I've been PM'ing and experimenting with Turbine777. I have an older version of PSP that I've been using for years (ver.7.x) because I'm really comfortable with it and it does everything I normally need it to do. In my experiments here I've found that re-sizing to a xxxx.2048 image and then loading it in GIMP and re saving it as PSD without doing anything else, it will load into PSP with layers. With out going through GIMP, it still comes into PSP as a flat 1 layer image. Full size gives just gives me the "You don't have enough memory" error. So it looks like resizing by half all the 4096 files and washing them through GIMP first maybe the only answer for us PSP users... unless PMDG can do something about it professionally, or at least remove the misleading statement about compatibility with PSP :)
  12. For me, PhotoShop is overkill. I'm not a high end graphic artist working for corporate advertising, I'm just a guy that wants to personalize my hobby, so I don't have Photoshop, I'm looking for those compatible for Paintshop Pro textures that PMDG advertises on their site.I used Gimp to load up the master PSD and then removed the 900 layer and the dirt layer and saved it. The file is now 1.2 gigs and PSP still says there's not enough memory to load it.... as I said in my previous post, I have 6 gigs of ram. There must be some other problem with these files because I have loaded 1+gig files into Paintshop Pro before. When saved as PSP, PSD files become very manageable in size, I've converted other smaller files and the difference is amazing. If someone with a super computer could load the PSD's and re-save them as Paintshop Pro files it would be much appreciated!
  13. So has this been addressed yet? The pmdg_7378NGX_fuselage_master.psd is just too big to load. I have a quad core and 6 gigs of memory. Has anyone managed to convert the file to .PSP? I'd like to get a copy!
  14. What is multi-crew? Is that where you have someone in RL join you virtually in the cockpit? What I'd like to see is a co-pilot in the sim that will work the flaps & gear when required
  15. I've never flown a real aircraft and am curious what would be a "good" touchdown rate on the runway?
  16. MarkW... thank you for laying it out in a clear fashion so that even an 'ol phart like me understands!! :)
  17. Thank you, I'll take a closer look at SBuilderX :)
  18. Is there a way to remove or replace the ugly, perfectly straight edge rectangles that surround the runway? I'd like to have some kind of more irregular shaped airport areas. My experience so far is just editing the original airports with ILS, runway lighting etc. and placing some buildings. Thanx for any suggestions! :(
  19. Thanx! I guess I can stop banging my head on the desk trying to figure it out LOL. I sorta figured that was it :)
  20. I believe Vroute has to be registered in order to export to PMDG flight plans. I don't go on Vatsim because I'm a coward, otherwise I'd register Vroute, it seems to be an excellent program :)
  21. I guess my brain is too old to understand the manual. Does the VNAV function actually work in the JS41? I understand there's no auto-throttle but will the plane change altitudes on it's own or does the FMS just "indicate" where/when it should be done?Thanx :)
  22. I think you're right about that, I have a handful gauges that i just can't live without, sadly I'll have to learn to get over it I guess. Thanx again for your input :)
