  1. @Republic  No - it was Meigs being there when i started the sim right after the download. It read it's own data first - which didn't have a Meigs, so it stopped processing the rest of the world data. If I had chosen an existing fieId - all would have gone un-noticed. After emptying the Comm folder - it didn't see any airfied there at all - just a park with a long pond, I then added the mod - z_guillermozulueta-meigs  from Flightsim, to I think - and it was recognised straight away, so all is well!    👍

    Plowing thro' TIR now....   👎

  2. I'll be darned! I've just looked at the world screen - it's been untouched for about five minutes - and it's there now.  In between posts I dumped the Community folder and restarted it but didn't check.to see if this might be the cause. . .  Duh.. Sorry for wasting your time - but many thanks for the assistance. Moral support is sometimes needed and appreciated!

  3. Thanks, Republic, but yeah - I did the "mouse to default" 'enhancement', and that allowed for the left button to rotate the world, but it didn't bring back the Fly thing .... All other "Easy" settings are back where they oughta be, and everything esle seems "ok", but I do need this yellow thing ...

Crossed posts, Bert - but - yes - NP - KORD to Meigs as a usual quick test (done using the mouse wheel rotation.. grrr)

  4. As this could be a software issue - you might want to empty out the Community folder first, then reboot the PC, and restart the sim. Verify if it's fixed or not.  Then - to really isolate a mapping issue - do you have any attached controls, like Thrustmaster/Logitech sticks/yokes/pedals or whatever?  If so - simply start the sim - select the aircraft and the flight, do the 'fly now' thing, confirm the issue, then pull each one - i.e. pull the (yoke/pedals, etc.,) USB plug from the PC, one by one, until it stops. Include both the mouse and the keyboard in this, (though the PC might not like it).  It should stop. If it continues after all the hardware switch devices are gone - then it is a real problem and one that Asobo should be looking at.
    Good luck!

  5. Slashed's advice is correct:   A "momentary" pushbutton switch that is stuck in the "down" position will send a stream of on-off's to the function that it's mapped to, so check in your mapping for the generator/alternator switch - find out what switch is actually mapped to it, then change it to something else. KB's are all momentary contact - i.e. - they pass an "on" pulse when they're pressed, which disappears when you remove your finger. Joysticks have many combinations - some are "on" - and they stay on, and whether one can use that switch or not, will depend upon how the simulator code is done.

  6. @fppilot  "My question was about the default fuel load (50%).  I did not find the setting for that in the file and asked if anyone is aware of where that setting is held.  It might be a universal MSFS setting and then not aircraft model specific. "

No - I understood that, Frank - I'm running a grepwin search (atm) on several words in the Official folder to see where it goes.
This flightsim is so full of maddening incongruites it would make a cat spit.

  7. Hi Skully: I reckon he already knows that: - "I routinely move the fuel loaded slider to 70% or 80% depending on the length of my flight."

What Frank is asking is  " Where (in the file system) is the config file that contains the default load configurations for particular aircraft".
The Asobo file system is deep and so many of our older flightsim files have always been in the same spots, with the same (logical) file names, for years: Asobo has changed all of that - and been secretive about it.

  8. Hi Solito:  Sorry you've had no answer for your question yet. I had it in the back of my head to do a search for you, as I had found it several months ago, and couldn't find it again when you posted. Well - five minutes ago - it came back - so here it is!

My FS is on my "H:\" and yours may well be on some other drive. If you know where your Community folder is - "Official" is next one below it in your "Packages" folder, and "OneStore" is inside "Officiai".  Browse down to fs-base and dig away!  There are several folders under \missions that have a number of familiar pics, but "BOOT" is the one I suspect you're looking for.

    H:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3869908899-3504216640-1147265394-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base\missions\

    Enjoy!

  9. Hi Rob: Thank you so much for this update. I've had your Spitfire XIV since Mar, 2005, and she has been flown regularly since that time: She is still my favourite - and one of my very best-flying and most realistic aircraft in the stable. , and you freely gave out updates for that aircraft as FSX faded and P3D came along.
With MSFS 2020 now pushing all others aside - most of us feel pretty happy - even excited about the almost-perfect graphics we now have, but very short-changed in many ways when it comes to strapping on something which we can actually enjoy flying - in a manner as is did for years, in those other "old" sims; it's been a hard pill to swallow, but your mod makes me pretty confident it'll get fixed, one way or another. Your selfless leadership, and the work you put into your mods for the Bonanza (as with the avionics mods from the "Working Title" guys) - have shown the flight sim world that fixes absolutely can be done - and in a relatively short time.
I have downloaded the v4 from the Github site - but, feeling a strong need to give a donation because of the above - how long before the Nexus site will be up again? Github doesn't have this.

    All the very best,

    pj

    Edit!
Well - Stoopid me! - there's a link in the Readme. . . . My thanks are on their way. .

I get what you are saying but given the turn around for these patches is every month, 2-3 weeks user testing seems pretty generous. It's really about making sure what they've delivered isn't breaking anything and performing as expected.

Yes - but it always does break things!! and our "expectations" are treated as if we're spoiled brats when we expect the same - or BETTER than FSX flight models..

  11. After reading some of the Microsoft Support fora, I discovered a number of people suggesting (with a few variations) that the #1 cause of "no landing or takeoffs" being recorded are due to folks running in dev mode in order to see frame rates.... so I turned mine off, restarted the sim - and found the logbook working. I don't know that this is a cure-all for the spurious errors we have been seeing, but even though it's a step in the right direction - I'm not sure Asobo will fix the problem as we would want it to be fixed, Anyway - I reckon someone else already has. In digging for a different purpose I accidentally found one which might just be a much more solid answer.  So - while not seeming to be related - there are many mentions of Little Nav Map being the goto flight planner - on many forums, and I've used it too,  but I've always loved Plan-G... which is now compatible with MSFS - but here's the piece that grabbed my attention:-

    • Flight & aircraft Logbook. This is stored as a relational database, but is also editable from the UI.
    • Aircraft Profiles are now part of the logbook system. Aircraft (including individual registrations) are tracked and movements logged

  12. Interesting subject...

    4790k @4.8gig, 32gig GSkill @ 2.665gig, 3080Ti OC, stock timing: Sim on Samsung 260 QVO 2TB, OS on Samsung 250 Pro 512 gig. Paging 21.248 gig across 5 SSD's.  Prem. D/L. Community 16.1 gig, Official 160 gig. Coffee 2 cups @10 fl.oz/cup.

test 1 to main screen, after cold boot, then reading this thread, closing it, then starting sim: -
          2 min 56 secs
test 2, after closing sim and restarting sim after first test:-
          2 min  33 secs

  13. (sigh)   MASM, v1.something, purchased in 1985......  then Nantucket's Clipper III..  I still have C on 5-1/4" floppies . . only arthritis in my wrists, and continuous brain fog prevents further mutterings about this new object-oriented stuff. . .darned new-fangled editors..
But I reckon Rod takes the biscuit here... He remembers morse and semaphore . . .
