  1. I've tried installing editvoicepack and it said I needed the .NET framework version 1.1 like the doc's said - is there no way to get it installed with higher versions of .NET framework as I only have ver 2.5 and ver 3 on my machine? Will it do anything to your machine if you install version 1.1 back on your machine?Thanks.Paul.

  2. I don't necessarily want to convert any. I just want to find this list I remember seeing stating that for example the 027b2*.bmp were forest textures and the 039b2*.bmp where city/town textures etc.I'm not looking for a converting tool or anything like that just this document/pdf or what ever it was that lists what each texture is for.Thanks.Paul.

  3. Hello all.Tired of flying at night and it looking blah.Could you recommend a good night time lighting package for the ground - NOT for aircraft/strobes/beacons etc.I don't care if it's payware or freeware - just want something decent n realistic (as much as it can be in FS).I'm using FS9.Thanks Paul.

  4. Was just wondering as even some of the 'replacement' cloud textures don't help terribly much. Some but not a lot. You'd think they'd be able to come up with a bitmap for clouds that mostly any system could handle.Well it looks like the hunt is still on or stick with what i have and try to find a balance between the bitmap and my system.Thanks.

  5. If this has been asked/stated in the forum already - my apologies.I know already that clouds are a big FPS hit it FS9 and that it is a balance you have to find between textures and your system to find the 'sweet' spot. The question is why are the clouds such a drain on FPS?I would think the scenery, mesh, autogen would be a bigger drain then mere clouds in sky?Yes clouds can cover the whole sky in overcast conditions and yes cumulus clouds seem to be the most damaging to FPS but what is it about those textures that hurt FPS over 1024X1024 ground textures or buildings or mesh or anything else?I can be in the middle of a city center on the runway with buildings and autogen and detailed mesh around me and be getting high 20's to 30 fps but the second even a few cumulus clouds show up - bam I could be down to 10-15 fps.I speak not only for my system but I'm sure a lot of other peoples too but this thread is not about how big your system is - it's just a question to find out what is it about the clouds over anything else that is such a drain to the system?Thanks.Paul.

  6. haha I change my fs9.cfg all the time - yet I do know what I'm doing.I did delete my .cfg file and let fs9 rebuild a new one. It did correct the problem BUT even after putting all my other tweaks back in, it looked the same as before so I still don't know what it was that caused the fps do go down only in 2d cockpit view.Things that make you go hhhmmmmmmm.Paul.

  7. After doing all of Nick N's tweaks for the OS and FS9 and nhancer I have my system running pretty good (well for a 4year old P4 2.4 ghz Gateway E4100 machine can).4 GB memory (3.3 GB recognized by Win XP 32bit) - Nvidia Geforce 7600GS 512 mb video cardIn chase (outside) view I can get up to 30 fps (locked at 30) flying around and at regular sized airports. Some larger ones and payware ones it will drop as one would expect but not terribly low.My only problem now seems to be in cockpit view (2d) that I can get 30fps in outside view but switch to 2d cockpit view and my fps is almost always below 10.This holds true for any downloaded aircraft from avsim etc, payware aircraft or even default stock fs9 aircraft. Is there some setting that would increase the resolution or display characteristics of the 2d panel? I don't remember changing anything - settings or fs9.cfg that would do this.Any suggestions?ThanksPaul.

  8. Priced at 1649.99The Gateway FX6801-09h desktop PC packs a powerful punch thanks to the Intel Core i7 920 processor and a barely-fathomable 12GB DDR3 SDRAM for blazing fast performance. 9. It's not my config - I found that one in their aircraft 3d light database list. You could try using it for yours. I'd backup the one you have (remembering to take the _ out of your beacon ones) and then try this one. If it works for you great. If not just resort back to your own corrected one.Thanks.Paul.

  10. For your beacon lights take the underscore (_) out between the word beacon and the 'h' and/or 'b'. The effect file is called fx_shockwave_beaconb and fx_shockwave_beaconh. There are a few other beacon effects but none that are _h or _b.As for the flashing strobe lights - they are light type = 2.Sometimes you won't find any for a particular model as sometimes they are hard coded into the model itself.Thanks.I found this config for the POSKY 757-200 in their 3d light database[LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing light.0 = 3, -14.30, 63.30, 6.10, fx_shockwave_navgre , light.1 = 3, -14.30, -63.30, 6.10, fx_shockwave_navred , light.2 = 3, -14.30, 63.30, 6.10, fx_shockwave_navgre , light.3 = 3, -14.30, -63.30, 6.10, fx_shockwave_navred , light.4 = 2, -21.40, 67.00, 13.50, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2_nl light.5 = 2, -21.40, -67.00, 13.50, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2_nl light.6 = 3, -19, -61.8, 6, fx_shockwave_navwhi light.7 = 3, -19, 61.8, 6, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l light.8 = 4, 71.00, 0.00, 6.50, Opensky_747_vclight , light.9 = 1, 41.5, 0, 11, fx_shockwave_beaconh light.10 = 1, 3.5, 0, -3.8, fx_shockwave_beaconb light.11 = 5, 20, 7.55, 0.7, fx_shockwave_landing_light light.12 = 5, 20, -7.55, 0.7, fx_shockwave_landing_light light.13 = 6, 59.5, 0, -4, fx_shockwave_landing_light_double light.14 = 6, 59.5, 0, -5.5, fx_shockwave_landing_light_double I didn't see one for the a 777Paul.
