  1. Hi Chaps,

I just purchased a second 27" monitor that is paired up with my old 27" (both running at 1920x1080 res).  I am trying to get the VC to span across both screens.  I have tried everything...both monitors are recognized in the FSX display setting screen, and I have them set up in Win 7 to "extend these displays."  I go in to FSX, load up a plane, switch to windowed mode, drag the VC across both screens to fit, and I get the dreaded black screen on the right side monitor.  It's a problem of resolution...I can't figure out how to get my computer to see both screens as one large 3840x1080 screen.  From what I've read on various forums, it seems that I need to use nVidia surround for this, but it seems that my video card requires that I have 2 cards in SLI configuration?  Am thinking correctly?  Is there something else I need to do that I haven't yet?  Thanks!

  2. Hi guys,

Sorry to ask such a dumb question, but I am considering doing the 3 monitor setup, and I know that my wife will not want to use all 3 monitors when in desktop mode (checking email, working in MS Word, checking Pinterest, internet, etc.).  So my question is, how easy is it to switch between the massive screen back to using only the normal resolution on the center screen?  Will I have to set everything up each time I want to fly, and then undo it all after each flight, or is there a more simple way to do it?  Thanks!

  3. Hello! I just downloaded my first Blue Sky scenery area (San Fran area). I cannont seem to get it to appear in FSX. Here is what I'm doing to install it:

I created a folder called "Blue Sky SFO" and put all the bgl files I downloaded into it, inside a folder called "Scenery"

I put that folder in the Add Ons folder inside FSX main directory

I fire up FSX, go to the scenery library, click on Add Area, select the "Blue Sky SFO" folder, click in the white area in the box. It then appears in the scenery list at spot number 1, with the check box checked.

I exit FSX, restart, position at KSFO, and I get the same default scenery as always. Any ideas? What am I doing wrong? Thanks,m

  4. Hello All, after a complete reinstall of FSX under Win 8 with all associated addons back up and running, I now have the problem where after a time of flying (10 minutes or so), my USB controllers (CH Flight Sim Yoke, CH Throttle Quadrant, and Saitek rudder pedals) all die. I went into control panel and set things so that the computer never goes to sleep, and I also changed the USB selective suspend setting to disabled. I have all of my USB controllers plugged directly in to the rear of my computer, so there are hubs to worry about. Any ideas? Thanks!! Paul

  5. Thanks for the reply, Jim! I followed the advice in the PMDG article to the letter, but did NOT do a registry clean after the uninstall. Maybe that was the source of my problems. I have gotten FSX back up and running properly, though! I uninstalled Acceleration, then installed SP1 and SP2, without reinstalling Acceleration. It left all of my add-ons untouched. The only problem was that FSX was asking for the product key each time I ran it, instead of Acceleration! After hunting around on the interwebs a bit more, I stumbled upon a post that suggested running FSX as an administrator, and doing that, it works. I set FSX to always run as an administrator, and it loads up now without asking for the product key. Just took a flight from Skagit Regional (ORBX scenery) to Diamond Point in the RealAir Lancair Legacy...absolutely breathtaking, and I think I have noticed a slight improvement in FPS under Windows 8. Thanks again! Paul

  6. Hi Guys, I know that this topic has been beaten to death, but despite my best efforts, I can't seem to find a solution. I just had to do a complete uninstall of FSX and all associated addons (and there are many) after installing Windows 8. FSX was unusable...wouldn't load at all. So, after many hours uninstalling and reinstalling, I now have the problem where each time I load up FSX I get a message from Acceleration asking me to input my product key from the inside of the box (yes, both FSX and Acceleration are legal copies). If I input the key, FSX runs beautifully. No key, then I have to hit cancel, and I get dumped back into the desktop. Does anyone know any way around this? Honestly, I don't care to use the aircraft/scenery that is a part of Acceleration. If I uninstall Acceleration and then install SP2 separately, would that do the trick? Thanks. Paul
