The A318s with the steep approach certification had the callouts: "Standby" at 117ft AGL, "Standby" at 90ft and "Flare" at 63ft to assist the Captain with the landing.

The A318 also has a lower Vapp, is rated 6 tonnes lighter for MLW, and has a much shorter stopping distance than the A320. Well done for being bold, taking the 737-600 into EGLC is challenging enough for me!

Wish Fenix did an A318 with steep approach capability...

Does the Fenix.exe run in the background? Also does it happen with other liveries (default livery)?
If both yes, I suppose a clean install of the Fenix will solve this (remove completely, all folders -> install latest version).

Thanks, hadn't quite considered it could be the livery since it was working before. But it looks like it needs updating.

Well, if they manage to release it this year, of course. Then it may be the release of next year. I do think MSFS 2024 will be the real release of the year though.

Isn't it in beta yet? It seems they are close. They probably wouldn't release pricing information if they were far out at this point in time.

Unfortunately it's just a computer voice from a text to speech program. Not realistic: There are almost no automatic announcements on the Lufthansa A320 fleet, except for the message that the inflight internet is now available.

I would recommend using the recordings from FSL airline pack (if you have access to it by having purchased their A320). I have made some high quality recordings myself with my Tascam DR-05X, which I could convert to the .ogg format, if anyone is interested.

Normally both packs are on till departure depending on company procedures. I believe EasyJet for instance keep pack 2 off then for departure they turn the other pack off unless this has changed recently.

Can confirm. Many airlines keep both packs on until just before departure, then turn both packs off for take-off. Pack 2 comes back on upon thrust reduction, pack 1 when selecting flaps zero. They should not be turned on again simultaneously. It should be noted that a pack off departure is non-standard according to Airbus philosophy.

Well, when the quality of the ATC (including traffic) is better than the ATC of FSHUD I would be impressed. But everybody is talking about the pricing of the voices, which makes me slightly nervous. The ATC-logic seems not to be part of the costs. So - anyone an idea how the quality is? Will we see lots of go arounds, near misses and all that stuff? Otherwise I don´t see a bright future for this slightly overpriced software. Let´s reduce the hype and wait for the first tests. At least I will.

Indeed, it's high time to put the spotlight on the core features of this software.

I'd like to see a full flight between two busy airports with lots of AI aircraft. What they have shown so far looks promising enough, but were usually separate bits of the whole thing.

These things (especially realistic vectors in mountain areas) are extremely difficult to get right in coding. There's a reason P2ATC has been going for about 10 years now and they still regularly fix things with vectors! Overall it will take a long long time for BeyondATC to be "polished" up to an extent that it does not have obvious bugs each and every flight. It's an uphill battle and people will have to manage their expectations for the first couple of years.

It doesn't have to be perfect. For truly mountainous airports (like Innsbruck or Aspen), you can always realistically fly the published procedures; I can't imagine vectors (to final) are a thing there, for obvious reasons. Also, consider where we are a right now in terms of ATC in MSFS: It isn't even capable of doing the most basic vectoring. Which is a step back from FS9 (or perhaps even FS8?). The bar has always been crazy low and has been lowered further. So BATC doesn't have to be revolutionary good (it may well be, though) to bring about major improvements to the experience.

  8. I am actually more interested in the flight guidance capabilities than the voices. For example, will BATC be able to vector me proficiently? Maybe add a 'goof leg' when there is too much other traffic? Squeeze me in between other aircraft, using speed restrictions? And so forth. If it can do that well, then so much has been achieved. And what kind of voice you're ultimately hearing would become a side discussion.
