  1. I understand that to generate AI traffic for use with VoxATC that the FS traffic sliders need to be set to 0. That's fine. But when I want to fly without using VoxATC, despite setting the traffic sliders to any value greater than 0, I see no airline or GA traffic.Has the installation of VoxATC killed all normal FS traffic? Thanks,Vox
  2. No problem Damian, I can let you know any more I spot - that's the problem with proofreading being one of the many strings on my bow :)Great product btw, and as usual the same high standard of support from HiFi. Keep up the fantastic work guys.Vox
  3. Another 'SP1'? Hopefully not as ill-fated I hope :)Are interface spelling mistakes going to be corrected in the update?(for example, 'Altutude' when you load a flight plan in the 'Briefing' section). I'm a bit concerned that the Beta testers were chosen for the technical prowess rather than their English grammar skills ;)Vox
  4. BenzhangarI don't really understand what you're saying in that you have used the trial version and then 'Buy the software. Your using the trial version.' - are you recommending the full version? If so, why? How does it differ, why is it improved from the trial version?Vox
  5. Thanks guys, I'll run things up and let you know if I experience any other issues. Appreciate the pointers.Vox
  6. Hi Jim and allI have just purchased the latest version of VoxATC for FSX (v5.33) and immediately noticed that the ATIS reported by VoxATC didn't match that visually given by FSX (which I've switched off now along with the FSX ATC voice). It got me thinking...Does anyone know if there are any issues between VoxATC and ASv6.5 that I should be aware of before I really start using both in combination? Thanks,Vox
  7. Hi allI have been using the trial version of VoxATC FSX and taken a GA flight from Kansas City International to Eppley. All along the route I was receiving warnings from ATC that I had traffic 1,000ft above me at say, 11 o'clock. When I looked, I saw nothing. Then later on, right out of nowhere, a Cessna Caravan buzzed me and cut right across my tail with no warning. Made me jump out my skin :)This surely isn't normal AI behaviour when using VoxATC is it?Thanks,Vox
  8. Brian,Seems to be working ok now (for me at any rate)...http://www.voxatc.com/Contact.aspxVox
  9. Hi allI understand that the UK version of VoxATC FSX will be out before too long. I have enjoyed the demo of VoxATC FSX and would like to purchase it. However, I don't want to pay for it now, only to find that I'll have to pay more when the UK version/addon is released. Can anyone advise whether it will be cheaper for me to buy now and upgrade later or just wait for the UK version when it's released? Thanks,Vox
  10. Does FSX's 'rate of change over time' slider in the weather settings affect how ActiveSky produces weather over the course of a flightplan? i.e. does AS produce it's own timed changes and updates that therefore require the 'rate of change' setting to be switched off to prevent interference? If so, then it seems to have to be done every time I fly because the slider always defaults back to about a quarter switched on although the global weather setting is 'User Defined'.Is this how it normally should be?Thanks,Vox
  11. Thanks Jim for the confirmation, appreciated. Is the stuttering a known issue too and related to the flashing textures? Thanks,Vox
  12. Bit of an update:With some more tests using various configurations of weather, including MS's own, I found some stuttering to with MS's Jeppesen based weather as well, so I doubt this is directly an AS6.5 problem. Any help to alleviate general weather issues would still be helpful though. Thanks,Vox
  13. I haven't had a great many problems with using AS6.5 in FSX as I'm mostly a fair weather flyer. However, this morning I wanted to take a flight using real-world conditions that were overcast and raining.I know there is an issue with AS6.5 dropping framerates in FSX while weather is loading, but once loaded, periodically I was getting stuttering and flashing of cloud textures for no reason. With Gen-X VFR photoscenery and using TrackIR, I normally get 35-40fps average with normal weather and it drops to around a consistent 22-32fps with overcast conditions. But these stutters and flashes are sporadically reducing the ability to fly to sub-15fps.Any suggestions that you can make to help smooth things out a bit, even if it means reducing the overhead AS6.5 is placing on the machine by turning some features down/off.Thanks,Vox
  14. From my experience, I'd have to say that ASv6/6.5 is a definite must have. While I can't comment about FSX and any versions prior to ASv6 because I have used neither, what I can do is say that the difference between FS's own weather and ASv6 generated weather is hugely noticeable.Initially, I was having problems with ASv6 and dramatic visibility changes, but with the help of the great folks here it became apparent that the problems were down to limits in FS's handling of visibility and the limited data being sent out by weather stations in the area I fly from. I very rarely get these visibility shifts now and even rarer are 'flashing' changes in weather. I can't say that they don't happen, but I think you'll find it usually due to old Wx data and not any limitation of ASv6 and they mostly go unnoticed.A recent flight I made between two airfields in the UK had several Wx condition changes en-route and not a single one flashed - the whole experience was a set of seamless transitions. For the money, it's great value and I think anyone purchasing it would not be disappointed.Vox
  15. Thanks again Thomas for the extra info.Based on everyone's advice and comments, I'm now going to 'pay up an look big' with a purchase of the 180F - and if I get gung-ho on the mouse, I might even throw in the Archer II :)Appreciate all the assistance - happy flying all!Vox
  16. Aw no... just found that Carenado do an Archer II just to confuse me further! This could get expensive :)Any idea if it is as good as the Cherokee 180F?Vox
  17. Thanks Thomas for the explanation and confirmation.I reckon you're right... perhaps I should purchase both :)Vox
  18. Thanks Thomas for the extra advice.I'm actually in the UK, but I have got my eye on the airfield I'd like to learn to fly at - it's only a few miles from where I live and I get a wealth of 'low and slows' over the house most days. They have a mixture of Pipers to learn a PPL on, and I'm inclined to think that the Piper Archer II from Dreamfleet might be the best choice for me as I would no doubt be either learning on that aircraft or the PA28-140.Incidently, are the real PA28-181 Archer II and the Cherokee 180F identical? If so, then the Carenado would be a suitable buy too. Thanks again for the help,Vox
  19. Thanks guys for the extra comments.Wow that Bonanza is cool :) More choice :$I know that none of these aircraft are expensive, and I don't want to seem 'cheap' by not buying them all, but perhaps I can explain why I'm trying to make a wise decision about buying the 'best' one.I'm not a real-world pilot, but one day in the not too distant future I plan to get the funds together to achieve a PPL. It's a question of time sadly. However, I have had some real flight experience in a Piper Warrior and Archer III and so are sort of already familiar with their cockpit layouts and handling. Therefore, for me to make good use of my time in FS and progress towards a PPL, I'd like to find a plane that mainly meets the following criteria:a) Handling and visuals as realistic as possible.:( Pre/post flight checks possible to aid learning.c) Not to daunting for a novice. Therefore, if the A36 is the most suitable - great. But primarily, I'd like it to either be an aircraft that I'm more likely to learn a PPL in or at least allows me to learn the basics of flight/navigation etc. in such a way that these things become habitual enought to take on to real flying lessons (i.e. nav/radio equipment types, their location in cockpit etc.)I hope I'm making some sense here. I guess what I'm saying is that anything I fly in FS should help to gain a PPL, not confuse and hinder the process.Having said that... maybe a payware Cessna would be better, although FS9's default *seems* ok to me.Thanks for reading all that waffle! :)Vox
  20. Thanks folks for your replies and advice so far.SJDickson.. Thanks for the offer for that Warrior. I can't PM you as you have disabled your public profile, but yes, I would be interested. At the moment, it's looking like the 180F. The Dreamfleet was first, but if it doesn't have a clickable VC then that's not really going to cut it for me I don't think.Vox
  21. Hi FSimmersI'm sure some of you own and have had some experience with the following payware aircraft for FS2004. I'd like to buy ONE of them, but I'd like to know which you folks is the best. Realistic flight characteristics and VC are the most important factors for me.Australian Simulation's Piper Warriorhttp://www.aussim.com.au/piper/Dreamfleet's Piper Archerhttp://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=archer01Piper Cherokee 180F by Carenadohttp://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=c180fWhat do you recommend? Thanks,Vox
  22. Just a quick check-in with the HiFi boys... is the updated Wx/airport list available yet? Just wondering! Thanks,Vox
  23. JTI *knew* something was fundamentally wrong - I thought I was going mad and the sky outside my window was bugged :)Seriously though, thank you for admitting this mistake in such a noble way. It's never easy to admit to an error, but hey.. we all mess up at one time or another. This issue has never ruined my enjoyment of ASv6 and I really appreciate the hard work you folks put into this product. So, no worries bud, looking forward to that new list. Thanks,Vox
  24. Hi DamianThanks for the reply.I've just consulted my CAA charts and can provide the following information about the area and the closest Wx stations to EGTH:EGGW (Luton) - 8nmEGWU - (Northolt, RAF) - 14nmEGSS - (Stansted) - 20nmThese are three Wx stations I see appear in ASv6 regularly and two are major UK international airports and one is a military base. The interesting thing here is that the report pulled in by default by ASv6 for EGTH is EGSS - *BUT* EGSS is not the closest Wx station to EGTH (EGGW is, at 8nm). And, if I fly from EGTR (Elstree) which is around 4nm from EGTH, the default weather report for there is EGWU which normally depicts weather correctly. It's only when I fly towards EGTH that I get dramatic visibility problems.Incidentally, EGSS is not near any large bodies of water.Sorry to be a pain about this, but it does seem that if I can get FS9/ASv6 to 'ignore' EGTH then the problem will probably go away. I'll certainly try what you suggest, however I'm loathe to delete a major Wx station like EGSS as I'm sure it's needed.I'll let you know how I get on.Best regards,Vox
