747-400X CTD when assigning keys
Hi Ron,thx for the tip, but I tried that already.I guess it happens when FSX tries to write the config-file to disk. At least I guess there's a config-file for the key-assingments, I never checked that on XP.Can anybody tell me if a config-file is written, where it's placed and what format it has?I wont keep trying with the faulty stuff if I find a way to do it in notepad.Best regardsKai aka OneDownOne2Go

747-400X CTD when assigning keys
Hi,I just reinstalled FSX and the 747-400X on my new vista32-ultimate system and got the queen working with some little adjustments, but:when I try to assign key-commands using the options-menue, fsx performs CTD.The submenue opens, I can select category and item, click on set, and when I hit a key, the CTD happens.I run FSX with the admin-account to prevent any troubles with the user-rights.Any idea what may cause this or how 2 fix it?My specsAMD FX2 BE23002GB RAMgForce 7300GTVista 32 ultimate (no SP1)FSX AccelerationPMDG 747-400X 2.0Best regards and thx in advanceKai aka OneDownOne2Go

problems with track !!!!
Hi again,as u can see from my erlier posts, I had the same problem. But after I installed AIRAC0804-cycle, it vanished mysteriously. Now, the queen is right on the track again. I have to admit I did not try this with 0803-cycle. But I did some testrides the other day, and no matter where in the world I tried it, it worked. A longhaul over the pacific also passed without any troubles. So if u did not try it again after cycle 0801/0802, u maybe should try it now, u may be as lucky as I was.Best regardsKai aka OneDownOne2Go

Ken Salter's AlacrityPC released!!
I'm using AlacrityPC for some weeks now and was quite happy with it.It did cut the mem-usage down from 850mb to 350MB and was working safe and stable - just until yesterday!I installed some updates as suggested by the program, and what I get now is this:while FSX is still running, alacrity is restarting all services and programs and restores the shell.I noticed that there's an entry in the log I did not see before. It says "Press X to stop waiting for monitor programs"The undesired restarting always happens while I'm programming the FMC in Wilco Airbus'. So I guess there's a keystroke sent some way causing alacrity to stop waiting.I was looking at the options, but found no way to inhibit this key-commands.Anybody got an idea if it's this what causes my problems, and how it can be solved?Best regards and thx in advanceKai aka OneDownOnw2Go

problems with track !!!!
>Hi Onedownone2togo>>first please sign your name... welll, you know the drill>>According to "The unofficial Boeing 747-400 Simulator and>checkride Procedures manual" by Mike Ray:>>"SOME IRU FACTS:>1. The IRS position can ONLY be updated (by pilot entry) on>the ground through the CDUs.>2. There is NO capability (like some other IRSs) for the pilot>to enter the position on the unit.>3. There is NO updating of the IRS position, once the units>have entered the NAV MODE!">>So as you can see you should leave the IRS untouched>throughout the flight so apparantly you are doing it>correctly.>>My problem went away with updating the magdec.bgl file, but>others obviously haven't been so lucky.Sorry, just woke up and looked at the forums before I went 2 the shower. Seems I was a lill' uncautious.I took the magdec.bgl from a fresh installation of FSX on another pc. Did u use a different one?Best regardsKai Bambey

problems with track !!!!
I have the same problem.1st I thought it might be me making mistakes when aligning the IRS, but even following the normal procedures, the IRS-position starts to differ from the gps-position within minutes of flighttime. The difference is a few seconds in the beginning, but adds up to even degrees on long hauls. I understand that an IRS that does not get corrected during flight will end up with accumulated position errors at the destination, but I doubt that makes u miss it by 100 nm in real life. I use GPS-position to initialize the IRS as suggestes in AOM, so the error is not coming from a wrong initial position. I still have to go thru the FMC-manual, but taking a short look at it, I did not find instructions to re-align IRS in flight using VOR/DME for example.I run FSX Accelerator on WinXP SP2 with no other addons installed than the PMDG 747-400X. I de-installed and re-installed, dropped in a new magdec.bgl.. nothing helps. For now, I fly the long hauls using AP in heading-mode calculating drift manually, but that's not "as real as it gets" in modern aviation.Hope this will be adressed in a patch soon, it really spoils the experience with the big girl.

747-400F FSX Autpilot not showing data
Hey, what'cha think?Rebooted, and WHAM, readouts! :7 Okay, after I changed to XP, I lost the manor of rebooting after each and every installation. And I did not think about the fonts being the actual problem.Thx alot, now it's big fun taking the lady out for a ride.

747-400F FSX Autpilot not showing data
>The cargo version's MCP panel uses LEDs instead of mechanical>readouts. You should see the digits once electrical power is>available. Not sure which bus but that's in the AOM.Well, I tried my best. I loaded the standard-flight and the corresponding panel-settings for cold and dark startup and cycled thru the AOM normal procedures step by step. But I still have no display of any kind. The MCP allows to make al the settings and the ap flies the plane, but still, nothing on the displays.I also noticed that radios are not working, like if the the master-av-bus would not be powered on a stock plane.Any more ideas?thx ind advance

747-400F FSX Autpilot not showing data
Hi,I just installed the 747-400X-package and made some trials. The passenger-version works just fine, but I have a strange problem with the freighter-version.The autopilots main-panel shows no data, neither in VC nor in 2D-view. As I can see on the MFD's, the knobs work and the values r set, but I dont see them on the autopilots readouts.I de- and re-installed several times, but the result remained the same.I run FSX with SP1 and accelerator-pack.Anybody got a hint what may be wrong?Best regards and thx in advanceK. modifying animations in mdl-file
OneDownOne2Go replied to OneDownOne2Go's topic in FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How ToOkay, okay, I see...I thought animations would be stored in some kinda data-table mapping certain sub-parts to movement-data like axis, sense of rotation, min & max angle, degree per input and so on..If the animation is stored for every vertex seperately, I wont even think of giving it a try.Well, will try to talk the author into either modifying the model or giving me the source, but I suck a 3D-stuff, I feel much more comfortable surrounded by hex-values ;-)Anyway, thanx for the kind and fast reply!Kai Bambey

modifying animations in mdl-file
Hi,I dont know if that has been asked a hundred times before, but:I use several models for AI traffic and some of them as player-a/c on my aging laptop when I have to travel.Among them is the DC-8-61-Model by Dee Waldron, that looks great for the polycount given. But some of the animations r wrong, specially the left aileron moves on a wrong rotation-axis. Is there any way to fix that by "hacking" the mdl-file? I remember back from the days of FS95 that animations could be added to an existing mdl, so there should be a way to change existing animations using a hex- or even a binary editor. I just dont know how. And befor I take on the task of analyzing the mdl, what is painfull and time-consumig for sure, I thought I could give it a try and ask the guys here that know alot more than I do.Best regards and thx in advance for any hintKai Bambey aka OneDownOne2Go

EPR-Settings at low temps/pressure
Thx for tne fast reply. So basicly I thought the PDCS would be a lill smarter then it acutally is. Guess flying the modern birds with allmighty systems spoiled my expectations ;-)I did what u described as "work around", but it's nice to hear that it's something that is done in real aviation From the experience I got with the Tinmouse, I usually climb at 3.000fpm up to 10.000ft MSL, then go on with 2.000-2.500fpm until at FL 210, above FL210, I climb with 1.500fpm. Is that realistic, or what rates should I use instead?Best RegardsKai
