Okay, okay, I see...I thought animations would be stored in some kinda data-table mapping certain sub-parts to movement-data like axis, sense of rotation, min & max angle, degree per input and so on..If the animation is stored for every vertex seperately, I wont even think of giving it a try.Well, will try to talk the author into either modifying the model or giving me the source, but I suck a 3D-stuff, I feel much more comfortable surrounded by hex-values ;-)Anyway, thanx for the kind and fast reply!Kai Bambey

Hi,I dont know if that has been asked a hundred times before, but:I use several models for AI traffic and some of them as player-a/c on my aging laptop when I have to travel.Among them is the DC-8-61-Model by Dee Waldron, that looks great for the polycount given. But some of the animations r wrong, specially the left aileron moves on a wrong rotation-axis. Is there any way to fix that by "hacking" the mdl-file? I remember back from the days of FS95 that animations could be added to an existing mdl, so there should be a way to change existing animations using a hex- or even a binary editor. I just dont know how. And befor I take on the task of analyzing the mdl, what is painfull and time-consumig for sure, I thought I could give it a try and ask the guys here that know alot more than I do.Best regards and thx in advance for any hintKai Bambey aka OneDownOne2Go

    EPR-Settings at low temps/pressure

    Thx for tne fast reply.So basicly I thought the PDCS would be a lill smarter then it acutally is. Guess flying the modern birds with allmighty systems spoiled my expectations ;-)I did what u described as "work around", but it's nice to hear that it's something that is done in real aviation From the experience I got with the Tinmouse, I usually climb at 3.000fpm up to 10.000ft MSL, then go on with 2.000-2.500fpm until at FL 210, above FL210, I climb with 1.500fpm. Is that realistic, or what rates should I use instead?Best RegardsKai

  5. Problem solved, seems to have something to do with either the folder-names or the title.Dropped all files unchanged except the title into a stock rfp-AC-folder and it worked.
  6. I know I should not bump up old topics, but...I tried that merge and it worked well, no problems that far.I have to travel alot and like to play FS2K4 on my aged laptop. For that purpose, I tried to merge the RFP V2 with a model from ProjectAI that saves alot of FPS and still looks okay, and guess what: engines wont start.Basicly what I did was take the FDE - air-file and cfg-file - and only edited the lights, engine-placement and contactpoints. I dropped the freighter-mdl in and "flattened" the folder-structure (PAI 741V2 uses 3 optional models for PW, GE and RR..) Then I made the panel-cfg point to the classical panel with that lovely collection of "clocks", enabeld CIVA INS (V1.50) fired up FS and... The plane 1st loaded with the panel I used before, after I copied the panel-files from V2 to the local panel-folder, it loaded correct and gave me a nice Ready for pushback?-welcome. But the *#/@ engines wont start..Well, did that over and over again, checked everytthing at least twice, applied the "october-patch", but I cant get it to work. I used the "startes" to control if the virtual engines gauges display data or not and to cause some delay like on a real startup. Using the v-e's trhustlevers as "multiplier" for the engine-data, I even got independent gauges. Disadvantage: Setting engine 2 (real FS-engine) to 0% and engine 3 (virtual FS-engine linked to engine 2) to 100% will result in engine 3 showing data like it's in idle. Not to mention that virtual engines have no effect on the total thrust this way. Anyway, best that can be done quick just to get the needles moving.

  9. 1st: The power-output of the engine - should I have said thrust instead?2nd: I know it's not realistic, that's what I said in the "I tried that"-part.3rd: I thought of using a "flat" power-curve for the "twin-engines" in the air-file and then use another curve - read from a section of the airfile unused by the simulator - to modulate power-settings along the thrustlevers travel.4th: I read from one of ur previous postings that u had a similar "problem" and solved it using DirectSound. I did not take that as undoubted proof that the simulator cannot do anything else.5th: In general, I dont like solutions that do not allow a max of customization without changing and recompiling code. That's why I wanted to stay as close as I could to the way FS does it's things. Like use external sounds, read the curves from the airfile and so on.I'll take your kind reply as a general "no, nay, never, not this way" and will tinker with the stuff a little more when I'm deeper into FS-gauge-programmig.   10. Hi,just a thought: I was thinking how to break the 4-engine-limit. Since this is hardcoded in the simulator, there seems to be no clean solution to this.It's not quite a problem to code a thrust-gauge that will split the engines power up into 2 or more "pieces". Let's say, lever 1 is at 35%, lever 2 is at 20%, and the "real" engine is set at 55%. I tried that, and it works. But it end up in very unrealistic engine-behavior,Could one code a gauge in C++ that can read an unused section from the airfile and then modulate power-output along a curve given there?And could that gauge also control the engine-sounds, giving each virtual engine its own sound?

  12. Hi,once more, it's me with a neewbe-question. Sorry for that...With all the kind help, programming goes along quite well. Now I found a new problem I cannot solve and find no hints on:I want to trigger an event depending on conditions checked by a select-statement. The idea is to create a virtual "co-pilot" that will do certain things he would do in real life. Like operating the gear, flaps, spoilers, airbrake, thrust-reverses etc. based on simulator-conditions and a preselectedt mode like taxi, takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, approch, land etc...Looks like this:(A:AIRSPEED INDICATED, knots) (L:VCP_FLU1_SPEED, knots) ><-trigger event here->I Also tried:(A:AIRSPEED INDICATED, knots) (L:VCP_CONTROL_SPEED, knots) >(>K:FLAPS_UP)as a basic test. I Know this will fire the trigger over and over again as long as condition is true. But it just did nothing.. What do I have to do to fire a trigger here?

  14. Well,I guessed it would be like that. Makes sense, from the pov of the simulator ;-)But if it does only apply to the startes - and I guess the radios - it's not quite a problem. The "virtual" electric system will run, and when it comes to starting the engines, it's not a problem to make the starter-switch turn on the batt and hook up a gen-alt when the engine is running.Looks different if more systems need "real" battery-power. Then you could drain the battery quite fast while going thru the prestart-procedures.There is a section in the acft.cfg that sets load for several systems in amps. Would it help if the load is set to zero there and only simulated using local vars in the virtual electric system?
