  1. I don't know how I missed that Andy. I think I was definitely having a senior moment today. I have got the system working using Linda at the moment which will probably give a bit more flexibility to change things.
  2. Just an update Brian. It's working fine using LINDA. I must admit I have only skimmed the instructions so far I am probably too impatient. Now for a proper study then setup the Saitek Pro yoke and pedals. I wasn't sure if Linda.exe needed to be left running, but apparently not. It seems it's only used for configuration. On another note. At the moment I only have one Saitek throttle quadrant but need to setup for two engines. Can Linda do this. I have been plodding through the Angle of Attack tutorial (flyaoamedia.com) and all the setup there is using two throttle quadrants.
  3. Thank's again Brian. I am reading now :Nerd: . Hopefully will be all straight forward as FSUIPC etc. are all latest versions.
  4. Thank's Brian I will give it a go. I presumed I had to install the VRinsight stuff so that the panel would communicate with FSX in the first place.
  5. Having just returned to FSX and PMDG 737NGX I dug out a VRinsight MCP Combo I bought a while ago. Unfortunately this is the original and not the new version 2 Boeing type. I have installed the VRiSim software and the panel seems to be communicating with FSX ok but I am getting funny readings on the MCP display with 737NGX. Speed reads 000, Heading reads 090 and ALT reads 00300. This does not reflect the readings in FSX on the 737 panel. Adjusting the respective knobs on the panel does adjust the display readings within the 737NGX in FSX but the VRinsight display stays at the readings I have shown. They do appear to try and change but are instantly forced back to the above readings. I have PMDG 737NGX selected in VRiSim and all the buttons seem to work correctly. I tried the default FSX Boeing 737 and set VRiSim accordingly and that seems to work ok with displays and buttons. So the problem is only with the PMDG 737 by the looks of things. Any ideas?
  6. Thanks for the advice folks. In the end I got the VRInsight gear and I am quite pleased with it.I got both the MCP Combo and the M Panel. Now the piggy bank is empty.
  7. Yes I did a search and there were a few comments on the radio panel. I was more interested to see if anyone had used it with the JS41 yet.A recent chat with someone in the trade suggested the quality of the Saitek panels wasn't as good as it could be.
  8. I am using the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System. Does anyone know if the Saitek radio panel and possibly the Pro Flight multi panel will work with the J41. I am hoping that the radio panel would make frequency selection easier. I doubt the multi panel will work though as it looks like it has its own built in autopilot system. It's hard to find out enough information on these two products other than general reviews.
  9. I have just bought and installed J4100. I am starting to work my way through the tutorial. I notice on page 10 it says CTRL + SPACE should reset the view to it's original location and zoom factor. It seems to set the view back to the original but doesn't reset the zoom to it's original 0.50. Is this a bug, a missprint or have I got a setting wrong somewhere. Thanks.
  10. My apologies John I hadn't realised I had missed off my name. The test was using a new installation of FSX on a newly installed Windows 7 machine as described above.I left everything as default in FSX apart from the graphics settings. I tried various resolutions but I didnt notice much change.Global Texture resolution is set high by default. Lens Flare and Advanced Animations are checked.Filtering is Bilinear and Anti aliasing is checked. Other than that I have not changed anything. The cockpit is in the VC mode. There is no addon graphics etc. This is straight after a new install up to FSX Acceleration level.I get around 20 fps if I change from VC to a 2D cockpit. Going by the figures you get for your system something must be sadly wrong with mine.I had loaded PMDG 747 Cold and Dark - KPAEI hope that has clarified things a little. Rob Lister
  11. After finally managing to install 747-400X I checked my framerate and found it was sat around 13 - 15 fps. A lot lower than I had hoped. This was using the default cold dark loadup supplied by PDMG. I have the framerate set to limit at 60fps in the FSX config and this is what it usually sits at with the Cessna 172.I built a purpose PC for flight simulation a few months back with what I had hoped was a reasonable spec. I have tried various screen resolutions and settings but it doesnt seem to make much difference. What should I be expecting? The PC is Windows 7 based. Using an Intel i7 920@ 2.67Ghz and has 6Gb ram. The graphics card is an Nvidia GTX295.Any suggestions appreciated.
  12. UPDATEAfter much hair tearing and reading it turns out the dll.xml file had been corrupted, possibly by installing Wilco PIC 737.The easiest cure was a complete uninstall of FSX and then a re-installation. It makes me a little bit hesitant at re-installing the PIC 737.
  13. Thank's for that. It looks like this is the problem. I only have 3 .dll entries for PMDG in the fsx.cfg file. When I finally found the cfg file tucked away in some totally different directory. I am growing less fond of Windows 7 by the minute. I definitely have said yes to everything offered on the install so I have no idea why it wont add the other entries into the trusted section. I have reinstalled it three times now but still no luck. I don't think I can add the extra lines by hand as I dont know the long sequence of characters that comes at the end of the line.I might have to email support at PMDG and throw it over to them.
  14. I have a clean FSX installation on a Windows 7 PC. I have just bought PMDG747-400X and installed it without problem. However when I come to run it via the Cold and Dark cockpit at KPAE I get a number of error messages saying a number of DLL's cannot find PMDGOptions.DLL followed by a FSX fatal error then FSX restart. I have checked in the PMDG directory in the DLL's folder and PMDGOptions appears to be there. Any ideas?
  15. Thanks folks, the reassurances are much appreciated. I don't think I will partition though.
  16. Having returned to flight sim after around a 5 year break, I have installed FSX along with a few addons. 737, Airbus and 767 etc. I have a fairly well specced PC and seem to get the 20fps that it is preset to by default. However, I am sure this 20fps is acheived at a price and my visuals etc are suffering. This is not too bad flying at 30,000 feet when there isnt much to see. But as I am interested in general aviation as well, I thought installing FS2004 to use for that sort of thing. Is this a good idea? will they coexist happily. I bought FS2004 when it first came out, just didnt install it. I think what I am trying to do is find out what route people with more experience would take.
  17. Thank's Craig and other folk. This problem is still eluding me. I have tried everything mentioned short of a full re-install. It's not stopping me using the controllers, just inconvenient.
  18. I tried that and exactly the same. I get the very first Flight Sim flash screen for a second then desktop when any of the Saitek Pro gear is in. I might just do a full FS reinstall and see if that fixes it.
  19. I found it and deleted it. Let it rebuild another cfg. Then tried after just plugging rudders in. Same problem. I am starting to pull my hair out.Rob
  20. I have a fairly new installation of FSX upgraded to SP1 running on Windows XP. This weekend I bough the new Saitek yoke as well as rudder pedals and an X52 stick. Whenever any of these items are plugged into the USB, FSX refuses to boot up. I get a quick flash as it tries then nothing. Remove them from the USB port and FSX starts fine. I can then plug them in and all is ok. Anyone any ideas?
