  1. Ryan, thankyou for your comments. I will contact the manufacturer and see what happens.I do run FSUIPC which speaks to FSX and not directly to the aircraft but the FSUIPC software will I am sure need to be updated with the extra functions of the NGX.O'h, and Dario, I don't consider myself to be a 'geek'. I am married and have 4 grown up kids and I have worked hard for my retirement and now it is time to relax and enjoy the pastime of flight simulation, which by the way, being on this forum, you would appear to enjoy too !!!

  2. Hi all you hard working guys at PMDG.Great news about the beta testing and shortly to be announced release of the NGX.This has really spurred me into asking a question which I have not yet found on your forum.I have for the last 2 years, been constructing a full size 737 800 cockpit in readiness for the NGX. I have already purchased the MCP, EFIS, FMC, transponder, VNAV and COMM radios from Open Cockpits. They all run off of their own SIOC software. My question is this. Will all my Open Cockpit modules work with NGX.Keep up the good work.Gary

  3. Fantastic videos and a real treat to watch them. Everything else has been said. One minor complaint though, - the wife says the engines on the 7:1 surround sound are to loud as she can't hear the film in the room next door - perhaps you will fit a volume control in the FMC!!!Excellent stuff.Gary

  4. iKey,Very envious.I live in Spain but whilst travelling across the US last year (actually this week), The captain of a Delta 737-800 gave permission for me to enter 'the shrine' once landed so I could get some of my own pics for my current cockpit build. Alas, once everyone had got off the plane, the Capt was too busy with the ground crew to accomodate me. I was gutted and so was the wife as I had kept her waiting for quite some time only to be told 'He's too busy at the moment'One day !!!Gary

  5. Dazz, I would sure love to get a 50mb broadband if we could get it here. I am stuck with a 3.6 mb connection in the hills via a dongle which allows me to download at a rate of around 13-15 KBS if I am lucky.Ryan, thanks for the reply and answering the 'grief' bit for me. I hope no offence was taken - none meant. The way the internet runs over here, you may get a few ticket submissions.

  6. In this day and age I still don't see why anyone would want a box when you can download it, burn it to a cd/dvd and have essentially the same thing. Plus you'll have it immediatly, rahter than waiting for it to be delieverd or driving to a store to buy it. I don't understand the mystique behind having a box to look at or display. It's not like its a collectors item or something.Sean Campbell
Whilst I quite agree Sean, it was a valid question. My internet connection here in Spain is so slow. I don't mind waiting a few days for NGX to download but and here is the big BUT - if I lose my connection, I will have to go through the grief of explaining to PMDG why I have made one purchase and still need another download.I will need to order a boxed DVD and it would be very nice if they could be released within a very short period of the download version being released.Gary Buss

  7. Guys, please.I have just spent last night and this morning trawling through the 23 pages thus far in this post looking for updates from the PMDG team.Whilst I am always up for discussions, nothing is gained by posting what can only be described as, in most cases, useless drivel. There are other threads for general discussions and ranting and raving. I eagerly await the NGX release like all of you but so far in this post, no-one has gained anything further about release dates than what was originally posted by Robert.Robert/Ryan, I am sure I speak for the majority of the forum members that purely want updates from you, so, after making an update, would you please lock it so that we can see it at a glance instead of having to wade through countless pages. If anyone feels the need to comment on a latest update, then please start a new post. Gary

  8. Cheers Ryan.I am sure there are others, like me, that have 'older' equipment, albeit under 2 years old and there will need to be some upgrades required. The MD11 does run a little slow on my system so hopefully it will cope with the NGX initially.I would hope that the system requirements are released when known, prior to the actual release of NGX, to allow us to prepare.Gary

  9. Hi to all at the PMDG team.Would it be possible for you to give us the heads up on the minimum computer system details that will be required to run the NGX software. I have tried to find previous threads on this topic but with no luck.Apologies if I have repeated a similar question but having just had a system crash with Windows Vista I am upgrading to W7 and it got me thinking.Gary

  10. Hi Ethan.Thank you for taking the time to write up your review. I have also received my Captains set and would concur with you comments. There have been comments in other threads about the print quality in the FCOM's which whilst a tad annoying for the price paid, they are still readable and usable. My main concern is the packaging and that is something that does need to be addressed. Mine were undamaged but there was damage to the outer carton and the lack of packing inside will I am sure eventually lead to the damage of the manuals if not rectified. This is the first set of manuals I have bought despite owning the 747 and MD11 and they will I am sure open up a whole new world of flying and procedures once the NGX finally arrives. What I would have like to have seen somewhere in the manuals, bearing in mind they are for simulation use, is the minimum or recommended computer requirements that will be needed to run the beast once it arrives as I have not found this in other threads.Cheers again Ethan - top man.Gary

  11. Guys,Mine arrived in Spain this morning with no extra charges.I have literally finished my olive harvest today but have managed to have a quick flick through the manuals. I echo what Chris has said. Whilst I am pleased to have them in my hands now and I will be able to read and digest them, the print quality is poor for the price paid. Not only on the images but on many of the page headings. They are still usable though and I am glad I have them.I reckon that because PMDG are giving the NGX the used and worn look, they are trying to carry on the theme with the manuals!!!!!!All the best for Christmas by the way to you all.Cheers - Gary

  12. Hi guys, sorry to but in on the UK delivery issue but I am still waiting for my delivery to Spain.Ordered on the 7th December and get this from USPS. At least it is in Spain somewhere. Out of Foreign Customs, December 20, 2010, 9:05 am, SPAIN Into Foreign Customs, December 18, 2010, 8:24 pm, SPAIN Arrived Abroad, December 18, 2010, 8:24 pm, SPAIN International Dispatch, December 16, 2010, 5:48 am, ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS) Arrival Electronic Shipping Info Received, December 14, 2010 I am now concerned about the image quality issue. I have had nothing but stirling service from PMDG previously and they were at great pains to explain to us in an earlier thread that the reason for the high cost of these products was due to the connection with Boeing and the printing. I will be very disapointed if I receive photo copied pages and not originals. It will be interesting to find out from other recipients whether they have got image issues with the manuals too. Gary

  13. Right. Hi all. At last all the bickering on this thread and debates on the usefulness of caffeine seem to be over and done with now.It has taken me the best part of 2 hours to trawl through this recent thread. I saw the heading title and my heart skipped a beat. Are we finally getting somewhere with the NGX.I constantly trawl the forum in case there is some good news but I am all too often left wanting.Despite all the pros, cons and views that have been aired over the last couple of days, the PMDG shop said it all. Just read the info on the shop page and there should be no need for half the messages here.I just get in take off and fly sometimes, I am also building a full size 737 cockpit, so regard myself as a general simmer at the moment but with the advent of the NGX, my cockpit will finally start to see some life being fed into it and I can start to take on the more serious side of flying.I have just purchased the NGX Captains Flight Manual Set with a view to becoming more informed and later a more proficient pilot. It is each to their own. I wanted it so I bought it. As to the price - I am retired and on a pension living in Spain. If you want something enough, you will save up for it and budget accordingly - so I do not think the price is too high as some have made out. This is my first post on the PMDG forum despite being a member for some time as I at last feel that this is a subject worth talking about instead of the usual supposition regarding release dates (or am I just being too serious). LolAll the best guys and I will be keeping an eye on the post over the next week to ten days.Gary

  14. Hi Ivan.Try here.http://fsps.737ng.gr/Booster.htmlI can recommend this piece of software and it is now permenantly installed on my computer.Don't worry about the 737ng bit in the link - it is for general use for FSX.I don't know anything about over-clocking but this software has certainly worked for me - increased frame rates and an overall improvement on smoothness. You get two free demos to try before you buy. If it works, then it is a lot cheaper than a computer upgrade.By the way, 28FPS is acceptable in my book !!!!!. I was acheiving 48FPS today - 3 X 22" wide screen monitors running off 3 Nvidia 9800 GT graphic cards, 3166 dual core CPU and 8GB DDR2 ram.Gary

  15. The specs of my computer are as follows.Windows Vista.Intel duo core E8500 3.16Ghz CPU, 500GB SATA hard drive, EVGA nForce780i SLI motherboard, 8GB DDR2 memory, 780 watt PSU, 3 X NVIDIA Geforce 9800GT (512MB) grapihics cards each running a 22" HANNS.G w/s monitor, one of the 3 cards also running a second 19" monitor for the captains PFD instruments and a second of the cards also running the captains FMC - dual outputs. All complimented by Logitech 5.1 surround sound. The tweaks I had made prior to the FSX Booster installation were gleaned from an indepth article in PC Pilot magazine and this alone transformed the graphics and frame rates from the basic FSX installation. The biggest effect I had was setting the frame rate slider to 'ultimate' as opposed to a set rate of say 35fps.The installation FSX Booster increased the frame rates by 50%.I used the 2 demos to fly from Alicante (my home airport) to Stansted in clear, dry, daylight conditions for the first and then from Alicante to Heathrow (Mega Airport X) in rain, reduced visibility and night conditions. I was impressed with the results and there was a vast improvement on the basic FSX and my tweaks. The support from the FSPS was excellent and despite the problems with my first installation (which was my fault), they gave me a further 2 demos to try.Hope this may be of some assistance.Gary

  16. Hi,To get back to the original question - 'has anyone tried it yet' the answer to that is yes I have. Now there has been a lot of debate here about there being problems with the install. I had a problem but it was me not reading the manual right and the FSPS team gave me another two go's at the demo.I am suitably impressed. My frame rates and smoothness were improved no end.I had tweaked FSX to the best of my ability (which is fairly limited) and the FSX Booster has enhanced my viewing whilst flying. Now I am not a wizard when it comes to tinkering with settings and cfg files so to me this product was a breath of fresh air.Perhaps some of the more talented tinkerers amongst you don't need the Booster but I found it worth while and I am now running the full version on my system.Everyones computer set up will be different so there cannot be a uniform set of results but it has worked for me.Gary

  17. Hi all.Screen shots would be good but I would prefer to see more information regarding the computer requirements needed to get the best out of the beast. There are obviously going to be heavy upgrades compared to previous releases. I have the 747 and MD11 and the screen does shudder sometimes under load.Any chance of seeing some specs in advance please (unless I have missed them from previous threads).Gary
