  1. Ah, I was suppose I was a bit naive ignoring the min. specs as I always have! Apologies, especially since you've got so much do deal with on here. I had a quick flight this morning and I am so so impressed by the immersion, I never expected it to be this good.. the wingview 'experience' is supreme; the sounds are unreal... JUST like you're actually there! I can get a 460 OC for £100 ish and another 2gb RAM for £20 - not bad but I'm going to University to study Aero Eng in a month so it doesn't make much sense really! I hope a Macbook Pro will be able to run it vaguely smoothly...
  2. Would another 2gb of RAM give any noticeable performance increase?
  3. Really? :( That's depressing :( Yep i've chucked in those tweaks, also forgot to mention i've got nHancer running AA for me.
  4. Hi all, I haven't been on FSX in quite a while so i've been blowing the cobwebs off it after I bought the NGX. My main problem is performance, it's not brilliant, I can't even remember what I had before... Oh and it's my first PMDG product. My specs are: Q6600 2.4ghz overclocked to 3.0ghz2gb ram8800 gts ~320mb24" monitor - native resolution 1920 X 1080Windows 7 64 bit FSX settings are as follows: Resolution: 1280 x 768 (I changed this, it helped a lot)Filtering: AntistropicAdvanced animation only tickedGlobal texture resolution: very high Scenery: Complexity: Extremely denseAutogen: SparseLOD: smallrest are 'in the middle' With those i'm getting around maybe 9 fps on the ground at LFMK (default scenery) and around 17 fps in the air. After I was flying for a bit, I changed views, this then caused all the textures to blur and the menu (alt) was unreadable. I'm guessing this is more of a general problem but i'm okay with LDS767, and the SF260. Is this because of graphical memory? Any workaround? New graphics card isn't really an option.Cheers. Richard M.

  6. Yeah the navdata manager has been in development for years seemingly.. I don't know how it's taking so long though I seem to recall them blaming Windows security updates for it.. but that doesn't seem to be problematic for anyone else..? mm The "coanda" effect was and has been in their very first FSX release 900ER x1... and the coanda effect has nothing to do with the apperance of fog/vapour etc due to the pressure differential.
  7. oooh, 1:30 AM here.. gotta be up at 9... should I..........? :(Can't wait for this British Aerospace Godess :)Rick.
  8. Just very briefly... The 800 "X2" is a very nice aircraft really but there's been so much hassle and nonsense around it all that i've got a negative view of it all now. The external model is not bad, excels in some areas yet strangely doesn't in others (i.e the landing gear is superbley done) and the engine nassels yet the wings disappoint me a lil bit. The McPhat paints are very good and they make the wings look a lot more realistic. The flight dynamics or w/e are beautiful.. feels just like it would.. although i've never flown one/nor in a sim it just feels like how I would imagine it to fly like - though again, like other parts of this bird there's issues.. approaching on vref and the noise is only 0.5 to 1 degree up - it's slightly off landing or approaching like the FCOM says it should. Sounds are pretty nice.. well parts of them - the packs and the recirc fans are a nice feature. The VC is very nice, high FPS with nice detail. The bad points... the denial of "people" is just annoying.. a lot of "people" won't accept any bad points of the aircraft and don't seem even remotley botehred about the lack of vnav descent path - to them it's equal to PMDG/level-d.. sure it's their opinion.. oh well. Support is pretty much RTFM or reinstall it and I usually get blasted for "assuming" things :/ As one person pointed out, the product details are deceiving.. and this guy also mentioned that a lot of just doesn't make any sense. Back to the aircraft.. the FMC is okay but i've been having problems with putting routes in (fliping direct to with direc to via) Lack of alt restraints on the LEGS page is amazingly disappointing for such a "professional sim". Also a big fiasco when they released this "X2" product line... they wouldn't discount anyone who had the X1 product and it was another
  9. Hey,I was just wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to add VC Rain windshield textures for planes in FSX?I remember there was a bug on the original FSX CS 757 with SP2 and one of the fixes was to get the FS9 rain texture and dump it in the FSX folders and it worked! Is this not possible for all planes? Would add to the immersion a little bit. I remember the first FSX demo had them - didnt they remove them 'cause it was too demanding or something? Thanks :)
  10. Hey guys,So I've tried numerous things.Put the FEX clouds down to 1024.. no joy.Put a lot of settings down to really low settings.. nothing. Even on Global Texture Resolution 'high' it still got worse! One thing I dont understand is that on some planes - SF260, CS 757, the VC NEVER blurs.. even if everything else does. Why is this :SAlso, I dont know if I mentioned it, but alt-tabbing to desktop and then back again can usually cure it for a bit.. Sureley other people with my gfx card dont get this problem..?cheers
  11. >>but surely it couldn't be graphical memory..?>>>Sorry to burst your bubble, but $1.00 says it is.>>Download and run Memstatus alongside FSX. Watch as it uses>every bit of available graphics memory. Unless you have your>texture radius setting turned back. I have a 512mb ATi 1900XT,>which was once a strong card. FSX uses every bit of that 512mb>and would use more memory if it was available.>>I did a short flight around the greater Los Angeles area this>morning. Too lazy to switch some settings, which for my design>work are all the way to the right. Gosh, the autogen and>scenery objects were everywhere. And because of that my>texture resolution blurred up further away from the airplane.>Normally when I fly my settings are less aggresive, so I don't>run into that problem.>>Bottomline, throttle back your settings on the autogen and>scenery and radius of view or accept that the 320mb on your>card is incapable of handling those settings and that you'll>have blurred textures.>>Me? If a good valued card comes out with 1gb of useable>graphics memory I'll give strong thought to taking out the>credit card. But until then, I recognize and accept what my>hardware is capable of and set the sim to reflect that. Thanks again for replying.I see. My main concern for the settings is that, for example, FTX Blue - I could run with very dense autogen around Hobart with bareable FPS with, say, the SF260 - it was fine - and, surely, this must be a very high load?Yet these airports, especially the FT and Aeros stuff just blur out totally. And when I say 'global textures' - everything blurs - even the VC textures.Even at EGLL where i've got photo scenery for the london area (so no autogen around) it still goes to pot. And, again, the FEX issue.. could this not be a problem - these are very high res textures...?I tried, memstatus, just reset once I alt tabbed to desktop.. cheers
  12. just to add, i'm using FEX's hd 4096 cloud textures.. could this be a prob?I read somethign on there forum about going into menus - changes the "visual quality"..I do task change A LOT - to change music on itunes etc... could this be linked?
  13. Thanks for replying guys :)So I tried locking the FPS at 15 - didn't work.I'm not sure what my RAM speed is.. I put down a little for my OC.. or is that something else.. mmmbut surely it couldn't be graphical memory..?look at Doom 3, Crysis.. they all run fine. Could it be a tweak or something?cheers
  14. Hi,I've had this problem for a while now - it's really irritating. Basically, when using addon aircraft (CS 757, for example - those with more complex systems) with (and espescially) scenery - like FT's Kai Tak, EGLL etc the 'global' textures will blur A LOT to the extent they look like "Global Texture Resolution" is on the lowest possible setting.Alt-tabbing to desktop and going back to FSX a lot some times helps to fix it temporarily. I find it mainly occurs when I switch from VC to locked/spot but it does happen just when using VC.My main thought is my OC - my system is:Q6600 - 3.0 ghz2gb ramIP35 mobo8800gts 320 @ 620/920And nope, limiting FPS doesn't fix it (erm.. I think..) but the FPS would be below playable if I did.Any ideas?Cheers :)
  15. >FSX-Wow!!! No texture problems for me. I did use the FSX SDK>texture choice in the setup. I have a hunch it works better>with sp2. Frames are amazing.>>Lee:-eek Yeah i'm using Sp2.. can't figure it out.. any ideas? although i'm using the non sdk mode - it is the same with the TNCM scenery.
  16. It's very nice.. just playing around with it now. Performance is excellent for the sheer amount of scenery and detail on view.Although just like St Maarteen i'm getting global texture blur (low res w/e) on everything when ever I put the global texture resolution to Very High.. so annoying :(
  17. Hi,First post here! Just wondered if anyone could help me...Righty, I recently updated my drivers (nivida) to 175.16 (or the NEWEST ones).Had to change the AA settings in nhancer back to what they were (they msut have got changed when updating drivers). Set it as 8xS supersampling.Got into FSX, was in VC, everything ok, switching to spot/locked spot view and the AA jsut went, disappeared. This is so frustrating. My spec:Q6600 stock8800 gts 3202 gig ramAnyone?Cheers!
