If you ever heard the lyric "speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing", it refers to Flora McDonald's rescue of 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' who was trapped on the Isle of Benbecula after the battle of Culloden. Getting to Skye gave him access to a French ship and escape. She and I both migrated to America - different centuries though.

A centerline thrust bush plane - the 'DoubleEnder'. A pair of Rotax 130hp - a bit clumsy but very STOL. This is off 'Coldfoot' along the Dalton Highway in AK.

The German aeronautical engineers were next level in WWII...as horrible as war is...its undeniable that it advances technology in every field at a quickened pace, the ONLY good thing that comes of it. (Huge advances in the medical field as well...and logistical planning, etc)
Might have been a greater success had the 'good glue' not been bombed out of business. What they used as a substitute had a bad habit of eating wood - the primary structure.
