  1. I have pause on my x52 stick, mostly for screenshots - use in the cockpit seems to depend on the aircraft, some things are clickable on some models but not all.
  2. Bill has a Trinidad update (man. press./fuel flow gauge) on the Lionheart site, Trinidad page.
  3. I've been informed that a 'manifold pressure' gauge will be part of a forthcoming update.
  4. The VC is as advertised except for nothing indicating manifold pressure. The FS2004 version had the correct gauge. The closeup clarity is excellent and it all works and no, this is for FSX/FSX Steam/the various P3D's.
  5. Another Trinidad purchaser, in spite of Bill's disclaimer about DX10. He was correct. Switching to DX9 eliminates the glass distortion but, in a screenshot, the jaggies are impressive. This was an FS9 model but Bill says it's a complete rebuild. Interestingly, none of his FSX original planes have a problem with DX10. Completely OT but has anyone found a 'manifold pressure' gauge?
  6. Intrigued by your avatar. I too was class of '81 - Anchorage Tracon.
  7. You and I are on the same page - owned four aircraft over the years so I'm fairly caught up on the nuts and bolts stuff and, with over 6000 hours flying them and others, my airmanship is fairly good. Those of you who enjoy all these "extras" in the package should enjoy them but a few of us would prefer them a little 'leaner'.
  8. Saw the video and bought the plane. Would have much preferred a version without the 'Accusim' - strictly a marketing tool but cleverly done. For those of us with a bit of A&P and/or CFI the word 'superflous' comes to mind.
  9. Looks like the problem wasn't with the Orbx forum. Holger Sandman posted that clicking Ctrl+F5 while on the forum will reset it and you're back in business. Worked for me.
  10. I saw you were back on - still no joy for me though.
  11. Both J.K. and N. Cooper have acknowledged the problem - working on it - still exists.
  12. Got the same problem, since yesterday. Unable to post, reply, quote etc - can still PM members and, according to my profile, am not in 'bad boy' status.
  13. When I load up any Fairchild, it opens with a glimpse of nav light on the exterior and a couple of knobs on the VC. The engine sound is nice but otherwise nothing. I know it's there but I can't see it.
  14. The manual (PDF) is one of three items in the download. Eula Manual PrecipitX.exe Your unzipped folder will have it.
  15. Bought the software yesterday 12/10 and have a few questions. My first download had broken files so your Michael suggested not using Internet Download Manager (been great so far) which I did, using Firefox browser instead. It appeared to install normally but my opening screen revealed a black 'tall grass' effect along the runway and black particles for the snow. Once airborne, the black grass disappeared and the snow effect lightened but not to the color of snow. Is this normal? The manual infers there are five intensities of precip - are these adjustable and if so how? My weather textures are REX4 but using the default engine - any suggestions here?
  16. ElprimAll 'jumpers-in' are more than welcome. With Xmas only 24 days away, I'm getting the ducks lined up for my Santa requests. Ebay has provided an older P4 3.0 with 1G RAM. Whether or not I'll need more (RAM), remains to be seen. We have a 19 inch monitor so, if Santa comes through (FS2004, video card and Saitek controller), should be good to go solo. Heels on the floor and smoothly with the throttle :)
  17. AlexJust like my FAA years - as soon as you have it figured out, they change the book. Still looking for the SWAP forum and the box check for email notification of new messages but, what the heck, all I'm using up is retirement. Thanks for the reminder about AMD. There's a ton of cheap P4's out there so probably AMD's too.
  18. AlexLooks like the old 2400 will be a doorstop again. Am shopping around for a used P4 machine so we'll see how it goes.
  19. Thanks for all the advice so far. Looks like I'll be going with the wife's old Dell 2400 - Celeron 2.4G 2G RAM. This has PCI only video card slots so I'm looking at a GeForce FX5200 PCI which may require more power than the 200W presently installed. Any thoughts on these two items and anything else needed, other than the loaded FS9 program and a suitable flight controller, to get this thing off the ground? Thanks for all the advice so far. 20. AlexThanks for the input. Both Dells have 2G RAM - not sure of the chip in the 2400, all it says is Intel. Another flat screen seems necessary - not enough room for the old CRT. How about power supply wattage? Been reading some scary stuff about 400W being a low minimum whereas our's say only 200W.You mentioned Victoria - a beautiful city. Been there a couple of times, done Butchart Gardens and the bus tours. Last time, with my two English sisters - they were impressed.Cheers,Dave
  21. AlexThough I claim to be older'ndirt, it appears yours is seven years older - hope mine holds up. We do have another box with CPU, drives etc, an older Dell 2400, so I'll see if its Gigs and whatnot are up to scratch. Like you, I may get 'my own little corner of the room' and find out if flying a box proves beneficial. Do you by chance have any specific used equipment websites you could pass on? I'll give it the old Google but sometimes that's just an exercise in wasting time.Cheers,Dave Ronaldson
  22. For a while it looked like this 'Sport Pilot' thing might be an answer but, as with all things FAA, too many hoops to be jumped through.
  23. An impressive set-up. The fact that my wife considers the 'puter hers will make whatever I end up with much more portable than yours. I'm leaning more to a stick and throttle since that's been most of my flying experience and will have to make do with "tunnel vision". Right now I need to be pointed at what will help to improve what I've got and, in keeping with the times, money is a factor.
  24. Sounds promising. To clarify, are you saying that with the addition of a decent graphics card, I'm good to go? If so, which should I be looking at? A joystick would be my first choice - been admiring the Saitek X52 as a possibility.
