  1. i've started getting the same problem lately. Got 8800gtx and e8600 @4.1 , suddenly started after i installed mytraffic 5.3 some months ago(but dont expect that to have anything to do with it).Was actually planning on upgrading to 980x/480gtx soon, so dont like to see this occuring on such a rig. Would also assume its heat or ram-related. What happens for me is sometimes ctd after a quick view-shift. get a display driver stopped working error-message. the white textures can be really anoying, even though the just appear for a split-second.Think maybe also bp=0 might have something to do with this.-a.
  2. until recently, I was never really happy with performance in fsx and was planning a major upgrade (probably 480gtx, ssd and i7-something). my rig is E8600 @ 4,1 8800GTX, 4 gb ddr3, vista 64, trackir4 and 42"lcd, logitech g940 and fsforce. For a long time i used dx10, and didnt realize that the utx/orbx streetlight blinking was mainly a dx10 problem. Before the BP=0 (and all the other) tweak, my problem was mainly fps with dense AG and Clouds. then stutters and spikes appeared as my gfxcard was struggling, and i used the external limiter together with enb bloom and nhancer. Could never run with ag maxed, and clouds had a huge impact. But I did see what both the cpu and the gfx card could do, just didnt manage to balance it. Also didnt manage to get rid of some spikes while panningAfter adding the shader 3.0 mod, and fftf=0 and going back to internal limiter (locked at 20), i am now able to run with max autogen, and max distance and density on clouds (still havent noticed the major perf.hit from clouds after shader3.0) going low and slow is wonderful (ex darrington/pnw in a2a cub) with ase (but not maxed on number of cloudlayers in ase) and mytraffic around 30 and car traffic on 15.Flying wilco 737 enzv-engm (with utx and gex europe) i notice that the scenery loading almost keeps up on approach keeping 240 kts at 3000 ft for some 15-20 miles. but once i lower the speed the scenery catches up. Have had several flights with no blurries at all. sometimes AG falls behind a little but then catches up again.not sure if I can see any iq difference on the clouds with shader 3.0, but it looks so much better with enb bloom with max distance and density on clouds. I do notice water reflections are more sparkling. My impression is that the shader 3.0 actually has an performance impact also on nvidia, but it could be just placebo...Read recently someone here said fftf=0 doesnt work with c2d, but for me it probably does. Tried btw to use AM to run fsx on second core (as bojote says the fiber thread will remain on first core), but that wasnt any success :)lot of details in this post, but what i'm trying to say is that thanks to Bojotes great work!!, combining all these tweaks I now get a lot more out of my current hardware (far beyond my expectations actually). Think my major hw upgrade can wait a little longer..arne jonasen
  3. As "rapid"david above explains, it only says vista32 bit compatible, i thought i should try and buy the upgrade as it works for some, for me it only fixed the speedbrake... hope a fully functional version will be released some day, but after pmdg is released im not so sure i would care any more
  4. I got the same problem with vista 64. When using it with XP, I experienced problems in vc when using other liveries than boeing. If I remember correct then gauges didnt appear, and vc was not clickable. After moving to vista 64, I just copied the files into the aicraft and fsx folder, now it was just the cdu and pedestal that wasnt clickable. (also the speedbrake could only be fully extended, and not retractet). Thought buying the vista upgrade and a full reinstall might solve the problem, but only difference was that speedbrake now works fine in vc. However, think it works fine using the simicons panel for acces to cdu and pedestal, kind of hard to work on the pedestal with track ir anyways. Really like this plane, but would be nice with a upgrade for vista/w7 64.-a.
  5. Buy both! At the moment I prefer the Hellcat actually, but everyone should have the realair spit, so if you can only buy one, go for the spitfire.:)
  6. my first post here, after being reading the forum for some years, just thought i had to comment on this one. Bought the san francisco scenery yesterday and I think its great. Covers a very large area, and as long as you got a proper system the tiles look crisp and clear. think actually it looks better than on the screenshots at pcaviator. I almost didnt buy this because of the original post here, but i am very glad i did, its really worth the $15.the bay area looks much better now than with utx and gex. cant wait for the rest of norcal to be released. Must say i'm also very happy with the socal megascenery x title, and think the quality in san francisco is just as good as socal. also looks very good with night lighting from utx. wasnt so impressed by the free redwood scenery that comes with san francisco. autogen has wrong colors, so works better without. but not so much difference from utx and gex, just a lot greener. about download speeds, buying from pcaviator optional download from megasceneryearth was available. I'm living in norway, and from pc aviator best speed was above 300kb pr second, from megasceneryearth it was around 95.-a.
