  1. Ok I just had to share this with you...I managed to get home thins last weekend and changed my RAM to 1.65 volts, the updated my FSUIPC to the lates version. I HAD NO AND I REPEAT NO CTD AT ALL!!! I even used the latest Carenado Piper Malibu at YBBN under Orbx with ASE and many clouds. I was using the Reality XP GNS 530 and flew for 1 hour and didn't even have a g3d.dll crash. That one have been a plague for the Orbx YBBN area since I bought it. I've never been able to get off the ground let alone airborne from that airport without a g3d.dll CTD. Now that hase been fixed through FSUIPC. I checked the event log in the moduals folder in my FSX drive and found that the sim had 5 g3d.dll crash attempts but FSUIPC trapped them and prevented the sim from crashing. AMAZING. I had no other CTD at all. If you don't have FSUIPC get it it will save you so much frustration and make FSX much more stable. Also on the FSUIPC log I had an average frame rate of 44.6 in the YBBN and the serounding areas. All my slider were maxed except for water. That was one notch from the right. Also I had my traffic 5.2 and 70% for airlines and 50% for ga trafice 16% for cars 40% boats and ships and max for airport traffic.

  2. Ok when I get home next Friday I'll see what CPU- z shows and try to figure somthing out. I just don't understand RAM very well yet. I've set it to just under 1.65 volts it's more like 1.64367 in bios the next setting was over 1.65. I don't remember exactly what its set to because I'm back on the road and away from the computer. Can you explain in more detail about the memory timings and speed and voltage settings. I do remember seeing 1.5 and 1.65 displayed on CPU-z, but do I have to set the DRAM to 1.65 and somewhere set it to 1.5? I guess I don't understand everything about RAM yet. However I have notice since I've set the DRAM to 1.64 FSX has not yet crashed or even crashed on exit with CTL+ E.Ps I using my IPad for these messages

  3. I'm defiantly looking at the future with FSX and realizing that it is with P3D. I am willing to spen the $500 on it as well. To me this isnt and expense but an investment. My #1 problem in FSX is the random crashes with the sim the g3d.dll, application hangs, and the CTD that are unknown? Does P3D suffer from these as much or at all? FSX has been abandond by Microsoft since SP2 whereas P3D still has the support of L.M. I'm not to concerned about the FPS issue but the overall stability of the P3D platform. What are you guys seeing here. I would get the $9.99 monthly subscription but I am not home enough to really have time to test it. That's why I need your input on what you know so far. I'm looking at XPX but really don't want to get into that now. Also here is a list of the ad dons that I use all the time for FSX.All ORBX scenerysAll PMDG aircraft with fs2 crewRegistered FSUIPCUltimate TerrainREXGround Environmet XtremeActive Sky EvolutionAll Carenado planesreality XP GNS 530/430 waasFlight 1 MustangRadar Contact 4.3 (I think they have a new Version out now too)Real Air Duke both piston and turbineEZCA 1.7Track IR v5Does P3D crash allot or at all? Thanks

  4. IT'S A COOK BOOK!!! IT'S A COOK BOOK!!!This reminds me of and old classic episode of the Twilightzone or was it the Outer Limits. When a group of aliens came to Earth and offered to solve all the worlds problems. They solved hunger, war, bringing in a era of peace, and made the planed bloom again. Every time the leader of the aliens spoke on radio and television he had this book entitled "To Serve Mankind" any time anyone ever saw this alien he always had that book tightly in his arms. Some how the people of the Earth were able to get ahold of the book but it was in the aliens language except for the title. The Earth scientist were trying to translate it as fast as they could and found out that the aliens were fattening up the human race for food. It turned out to be a cook book. Love it.Funny thing about that...

  5. Getting back to the basics............You actually CAN feel, with your eyes, to a degree. Those of you, that have experienced the stop light or car wash syndrome, in which the vehicle next to you, or the carwash machine moves...............and you slam on your brakes, because you feel you're moving backwards...........know what I'm talking about. The same can be done in flight sims. However, there will be some differences, when a pilot's mind, or non-pilot's mind, has to fill in the mind gaps. It's either based on actual feel, or percieved feel. And it's all done through the visuals on the screen, combined with the small resistance of a joystick/yoke spring. It's done with delays, and non-linear action to the joystick. An example is ballooning in a high wing Cessna with flap extention. The nose wants to move upwards, and you push the yoke forward. By not immediately dropping the nose "visually", for the short amount of yoke travel..........the yoke is pushed a bit more to get the visual image on the screen level. This provides a sense of feel on the yoke . It gives the impression of pushing against air forces on the elevator. It's a compromise, but works rather well. The same can be done for other sensations, such as dampening, power to weight, etc.L.Adamson
In fact you are right, I can see what you are saying.

  6. replace FSX and bring back the true spirit of flight simulation back to my home Brings back? Are you stating FS2004 or 2002 or 98 had the spirit and if so. Why are you not still using it? Some evolution of a simulator in the past must have had "The spirit"
Sorry by that I meen I can focus on flying and enjoying the sim without the thought in the back of my head that I was going to get a CTD. Constant CTD take away from the spirit of flight for me.

  7. For me I think I will adopt a wait and see with XP 10 I really do hope that it will live up to the hype and expectations of us simmer. I really want to move from FSX be it XP10 or Flight and I just saw on another post about yet another sim called Aerofly FS. The later is just in Switzerland and is only in German but they are looking to convert it to English as well. There are some great things coming out way!!!

  8. I've been an avid Flight Simulator user since I had my first copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator for my old IBM 8088, back in 1986 then came Sublogic ATP and I fell in love with the heavy irons. I've owned every version of MFS since then and including FSX. I have also owned X-plane 9 and have pay ware aircraft for it as well. My biggest frustration with FSX is how badly we have all needed for Microsoft to fix the bugs that crash your system. That's why I have tried to switch to xplane to see what I was missing. X-plane 9 was a good sim but not great. FSX was a good sim but not great also. I have found that the argument of the flight model in XP vs FSX is completely irrelevant, and I say this because of my own personal experience in the real world as a pilot. Some things I have noticed in XP is that the flight model is unstable. The physics model that is in XP-9 doesn't calculate the flight model correctly. If the physics engine is inaccurate the flight model will compound that inaccuracy. In FSX the physics model is interpreted by the aircraft models data. Therefore, if you know the data from an actual aircraft, it will be entered in and will fly exactly by the numbers with a few exceptions, according to the limitations of FSX. (ie: spins). I will say that XP-9's physics engine is better than FSX, but not by much. In order to get the real feel of flight, you have to have real controls with real forces. As hard as XP-9 and FSX try, you cannot feel with your eyes. The new word that I am getting really tired of now is "Plausible" there used to be a phrase before from Microsoft " As real as it gets" that get old to. But these are the targets of what they are trying to make there sims be. So I am forced to to now ask myself now when I fly do I want to fly a plausible aircraft or a as real as I gets aircraft. XP has some very nice pay ware aircraft that should work with version 10. Like I have said I own some. FSX has many more som are bad some good and som are absolutely incredible. Therein is the answer for me. I want the most realistic simulation as possible with a depth of learning and sence of accomplishment. This is just my opinion but for me plausible aircraft and systems won't cut it. Now who knows in the future with aerosoft and carenado and so on that this will change. But for nowFSX still has what I am looking for in that area. One of the most importation aspects of flight simulation is the suspension of disbelief through the scenery. When I was in flight school we learned that the terrain itself was a navigation device. Using a map and compose and if you were lucky enoupf to have 2 nav radios you could pinpoint yourself on the map. FSX default scenery scored in my book a 4 out of 10 for recognizable land features and scenery. XP 10 haste som amazing new visuals and objects that I only wish FSX could have had. Unfortunately the scenery is so unrecagnisable in most areas that you really can't use good VFR skills. Looking out the window is what flying airplanes are all about. XP 10 scenery look great at night but falls apart when the sun comes up. But that is once again my own opinion. For me I am looking for somthing that can replace FSX and bring back the true spirit of flight simulation back to my home. I don't want to worry about taking long flights and have the sim CTD on final Microsoft are you listening. We had a plausible sim 10 years ago and need a sim that can but open but looks the part on release. XP are you listing to. Dont get me wrong I am very hopeful for XP10 and I hope that it get better with time. FSX has been a great sim with all the add ons I have for it but it's been needing to be fixed for so long. My 2 centsCheck out my youtube page.

  9. Hi im kevin and i have made to full flights on the j41. I have a youtube chanel if you want to see how to set up and fly this bird. It has been featured on the pmdh facebook page as well. There are two series one is Kelowna to Kalispel witch was moore of a show and tell video the other was Buffalo to Boston. There are 9 videos on the first and 12 on the second. Ive also made an MD11 series aswell. My youtube chanel is cobrakev1526

  10. OK this one took me a while to make. Mostly because I wasnt to sure how I would put it all to geather. But after 383 GB of video and 2 weeks of trial and error I have just finished uploading the MD11 flight from Boston to Atlanta. I was trying to be as complete as possible using what I had avalible, however its not 100%. But i think its pretty darn close to real as I could make it. There are 20 videos in total and I wouldn't expect many people to watch them all. So I have titled them accordingly. I am glad its over with now!!! Enjoy!!!here is the link:http://www.youtube.com/user/cobrakev1526
